This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Salem MA in the spring
Welcome back to Salem. Now is the time to get to know a little more about
Salem. We will be touring the Witch House, then off to Gallows Hill for a 4D
theatrical experience. Lunch will be on your own. You can spend the after-
noon at your leisure. For those who wish to have a psychic medium, clairvoy-
ant, palm reader or Tarot therapist session this is your opportunity.
The House of the Seven Gables has an 18th century granite sea wall, and
two seaside Colonial Revival Gardens. The museum houses more than 2,000
artifacts and objects, more than 40 framed works, 500 photographs and
glass plate negatives, and more than 50 volumes in a rare book library.
When we arrive at The House of Seven Gables guides will greet us for an
unforgettable historical experience. The House of the Seven Gables, also
known as the Turner-Intersoll Mansion, was built in 1668, and is the oldest
surviving 17th century wooden mansion in New England. The House of the
Seven Gables inspired author Nathaniel Hawthorne to write his legendary
novel of the same name. The home where Hawthorne was born was moved
to The House of the Seven Gables and now lies just feet away from the
mysterious mansion. When you step into the Nathaniel Hawthorne House
(c.1750), you will learn about the life of the famous author.
But there’s more…
Then off to the Salem Witch Museum where we will follow the history of
witches, witchcraft and witch hunts through a presentation of the events of the
Salem Witch Trials of 1692. Witches – Evolving Perceptions is a provocative
exhibit which presents the ancient pagan wise woman, the stereotypical
witch, modern witchcraft and the phenomenon of witch hunts.

In January 2014, Educational Testing Service (ETS), a leader in assessment
development worldwide, launched a more affordable, more accessible high school
equivalency test. The ETS High School Equivalency Test (HiSET®), the first alternative
to the GED® test since 1942, includes elements that are critical to providing
educational opportunities for those who need a second chance to succeed.
Designed with two important
advantages to meet your needs
The HiSET program, designed by ETS and Iowa Testing Programs, two highly
respected nonprofit assessment organizations, addresses the needs of states,
educators, policymakers, employers and test takers. The exam measures the same
competencies as the GED® test, but ETS offers these two value-added advantages:
More accessible. The HiSET exam is widely available in both paper- and computer-
based administrations through existing testing locations, offering a smooth transition.
It is also available in both Spanish and English languages. Candidates can prepare for
the exam with free practice materials and resources available on the HiSET website.
More affordable. Cost is not a barrier to using the HiSET program. The single
pricing model includes all costs — from registration to scoring and reporting. Up to
two free* retests per subtest are included for up to 12 months from the original date
of purchase. The maximum number of tests per subtest is three per calendar year.
*Please note that only the test itself is free; test center fees may still apply and students are advised to
check with their local testing center for detailed pricing info.
The HiSET® Exam —
Providing out-of-school youth and adults the
best opportunity to demonstrate their high
school-level proficiency and their readiness
for higher education or the workplace.
Working with you every
step of the way
The HiSET program is compatible with current professional
development materials used for high school equivalency
