The Saxon Open Online Course (SOOC) is a connectivist massive open online course focused on individual learning and knowledge management using social media, involving participants from various universities. The impact of the social web on personal
lifes were focused in the third section of
the SOOCs. In addition to data security as
a central aspect, open educational resources were discussed.
In the second section, participants
were encouraged to rethink their
personal knowledge management
and to experiment with new tools
for this purpose.
The use of social media in business and institutional organizations shaped the fourth section. Besides the developments in the professional training
sector, perspectives of Learning 2.0 for higher
education were critically discussed including the
benefits and risks of MOOCs in this domain.
