My apologies for missing last week's meeting.
I gather that Aled gave an update on our strategy discussions which was
well received. For us to grow, we need a plan.
Its great to be able to report that the BBQ shelter is nearing
completion.
The BBQ unit itself has been ordered and the roof will be completed in
the next couple of weeks.
All that remains after that is the seating, final landscaping and signs.
I am also very pleased to report that we have been offered and accepted
a $1000 donation from the Peninsula Aero Club towards the cost of the
BBQ shelter. This is a substantial donation towards a very worthwhile
community project. The Aero Club's assistance is gratefully received.
Arrangements for our 30th Anniversary Changeover are well underway
At the date of writing we have around one hundred acceptances.
These numbers are already in excess of what we need to secure the
venue and will make this a memorable night.
One special event that is being co-ordinated by Secretary Graeme is a
30th Anniversary wine sale.
The wine is being supplied by our good friend Paul White in
Somerville. Pricing will allow the Club to make money from the sale.
Some of the wine will be available on the night and orders will be taken.
Unfortunately duty calls once again and I need to miss this week's
breakfast meeting. Su will be in charge to hear guest speaker Greg Hood
from the Bendigo Bank who are now the Club's bankers.

Bev Wilkinson
Bev’s goal in life is to capture ‘living history’ by inviting Seniors to relate their story to young people so
that it may be transferred from an oral history to a written one.
She began in the Frankston area by attending a National Seniors meeting and at first was queried as to
why she was there as she was a bit young. But when she convinced them about what she wanted to do
she was able to attend meetings and chat to the Seniors during their tea break.
This led to her bringing i students from Frankston High School to document the Senior’s stories for the
future.
This has expanded to also using other educational institution students as interns to help capture the
Seniors tales.
Beverley is so proud that she has had the opportunity to connect many seniors and young people
together through the art of storytelling.. She truly believes that everyone has a story to share and
having a simple chat can open many doors.
Not only do the Seniors and young people share stories, they have created wonderful friendships.
Her Celebrate Living History interns are the lifeblood of what she is endeavouring to achieve and their
enthusiasm to capture an amazing story always makes her smile.
Her own enthusiasm is boundless and we are sure that much of everyday Australian’s histories, that
otherwise would be lost, will be captured by the system that she has created.
I suspect there might even be a book or two resulting from this program.
Beverley has applied for a Churchill Fellowship, with the aim of taking the program even further and we
wish he well in her endeavours

Note: President Elect Su and President Elect Heather from Hastings Rotary Club are looking to
identify a location where the RYDA training can be safely carried out on the Peninsula as a
joint club project

Places on my ‘bucket list’ for 2016-2017
I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots.
Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.
I've also never been in Cognito.
I hear no one recognizes you there.
I have, however, been in Sane.
They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there.
I have made several trips there, thanks to my children, friends, family and work.
I would like to go to Conclusions,
but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.
I have also been in Doubt.
That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.
I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.
Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older
