Letter from the
President
2010 is fast disappearing,
with November already upon
us!
November is Foundation
Month in the Rotary calendar,
and this week we will be
hearing from a young man
who will soon be benefitting
from one of the many
wonderful programs of the
Rotary Foundation.
November and December are
extremely busy times for
everyone in the lead up to
Christmas. If you can't make
it to our weekly meeting,
please do let us know in
advance so we can adjust
catering if need be.
Yours in Rotary service,
Simone
Last Week’s
Meeting
Our speaker last meeting was
Professor Jorg Imberger,
Director of the Centre for
Water Research and Professor
o f E n v i r o n m e n t a l
Engineering at UWA.
Prof. Imberger graphically
portrayed the situation with
our waterways and the
pollution in
both the river
and coastal
areas – he

Watercorp and a
variety of
schools are
working with
Prof. Imberger
and his online
real-time service
at http://
www.rmso.com.au/ . He has
spoken to 10 Rotary Clubs
this year and would like us to
help expand this out to all
schools, preferably by
funding IT support to teach
schools how to use the RMSO
system.
This Week’s
Meeting
On Wednesday the Club will
vote to adopt the updated
Club Constitution.
Our speaker will be Justin
Hewett, the successful
outbound Ambassadorial
Scholar, sponsored by our
club. Justin is sitting his final
year law exams and will be
applying to Tsinghua
University in Beijing, where
he wishes to do a Masters in
Chinese Law. Justin’s
ultimate aim is to assist the
Chinese people with their
human rights issues.
AGM
Our club's Annual General
Meeting will take place our
regular meeting on December
8th. It is a brief procedure to
elect the officers for the
following Rotary year,
2011-12.
Please consider nominating
for a position on the Board –
President 2012-13, Secretary,
Treasurer, or any of the
Directorships. A Nomination
Form for these positions is
attached to the Bulletin.
Also at the meeting of 8th
December, Bill Hassell will
guide the Club in the actions
which are required to be
taken with regard to the
RCFB Charity Fund:
1. All members of the RCFB
are required to vote to adopt
the RCFB Charity Fund
Constitution so that it can be
legally formed as an
Association
2. Elect Office Holders for the
RCFB Charity Fund, Inc.
3. A formal determination
that all Club members should
be RCFBCFI members
4. The Club formally agreeing
to each of them being
members of the Fund and
signing them up.

Interact
An “interest meeting” for
forming a community based
Interact Club will be held on
Thursday, 11th November at
7.15pm. A room will be made
available at Christ Church
Grammar School for this
meeting.
If you know of young people
between the ages of 14-17
who might be interested in
joining an Interact Club,
please encourage them to
attend the meeting and to
bring their friends. Rotarians
are also encouraged to attend
to learn more about what
Interact is about.
National Youth
Science Forum
The NYSF will be held in
Perth in January for the
second year. The Committee
are looking for Clubs to host
students on Sunday, 16th
January, to allow them to
catch up on their laundry
and sleep.
Rotarians offering to host the
students are also invited to a
dinner on Friday, 14th
January when students /
hosts will be paired. A
Working with Children card
is required by Rotarians
prepared to host.
Magnifying
Microscopes
Dir. Rob Rohrlach has
submitted an application for
a Grant from the Shell
Company for our Microscope
Project.
Jade Lewis
Our club has provided the
funding for Jade Lewis and
Friends to do their
presentation on drugs to the
year 6 and 7s at Claremont
Primary School on Monday,
1st November.
Member
Movements
Welcome back Claire and
Daniel Forsdyke from their
travels in the UK!
Jane Armstrong has resigned
from the club; with her
appointment as Clinical Lead
for Rehabilitation Services at
Graylands Hospital, she has
found it impossible to attend
any of our meetings or
activities. It is hoped that
when circumstances change
for Jane and she is not as
committed as she currently
finds herself, we will be able
to welcome her back into the
club.

Rotary Club of
Mindarie -
Charter Night
Dear Simone & Marcos,

Invitation to Charter
You may have received this
invitation a few weeks ago
and if you have responded,
you can ignore this request.
Although the invitation was
sent to you personally, it was
extended to your club as a
whole to ensure there was at
least one member attending
to represent your club.
The original invitation
indicated the venue was
numbers limited, but we
have been surprised at the
over reaction - very few
Clubs have responded or are
attending.
We now seek your support to
attend – URGENTLY. Can
you send this request to your
club members and encourage
their attendance?
Please RSVP when you
receive this message with the
name of a club member(s) to
attend.

You and your partner’s
i n v o l v e m e n t a n d
participation in this event
will add both prestige and
significance to this special
occasion.
You will be sharing this
important occasion with
