This document provides an overview of deception analysis and how to detect lies. It is split into four parts: an introduction to deception analysis and who uses it; a brief introduction to tells and cues; examples of reading microexpressions; and a conclusion. Some of the signs that someone may be lying include talking in the future tense rather than past, deflecting to other people, going out of their way to convince you, distancing from the subject, and rehearsed-sounding language. Microexpressions and body language cues can also help identify deception.
