4. GENERAL OBJECTIVES
• The purpose of this study is to provide information and
knowledge about the “solid waste management”.
• At the end of the topic all the students will be able to
understand the topic “ solid waste management”.
5. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
• To introduce the topic solid waste management.
• To define the definition of solid waste management.
• To explain the types of solid waste.
• To explain the categories of waste.
• To explain the source of wastes.
• To explain the effects of poor solid waste management.
• To explain the process of solid waste management.
6. INTRODUCTION
• The term solid waste management mainly refers to the
complete process of collecting, treating and disposing of solid
wastes. In the waste management process, the wastes are
collected from different sources and are disposed of. This
process includes collection, transportation, treatment, analysis
and disposal of waste.

• Solid waste management denotes the process of collecting,
treating and disposing of solid wastes. Solid waste can be
domestic, agricultural or even industrial wastes.
8. PRINCIPLES OF SOLID WASTE
MANAGEMENT
• Rethink: this is the stage where you should rethink before
buying anything.
• Reuse: reuse of discarded items
• Refuse: refuse buying plastics bags. Carry your own jute bag
or paper bag.
• Reduce: try to reduce the waste you generate at home. Buy
things only that you require.
9. CONT…
• Repurpose: modifying the item in a way to reuse them.
• Repair: repairing broken or old materials to bring them back to
life and to minimize the generation of waste is very important in
solid waste management.
• Rot: Biodegrade solid are decompose by microorganism and
use as manure for growing plants and trees.
10. TYPES OF SOLID WASTES
• Waste can be broadly divided into liquid waste, industrial
waste, solid garbage, radioactive waste and recyclable waste.
This includes garbage from households, industries, schools,
offices, marketplaces, restaurants and other places.
16. SUMMARY
• I’m Naresh Singh student of B.Sc. Nursing of 5th semester I am
summarised my topic solid waste management it includes :
introduction ,definition ,types of solid waste categories of
waste, source of waste , effect of poor solid waste
management and process of solid waste management .
17. CONCLUSION
• It is found that with increase in the global population and the
rising demand for food and other essentials, there has been a
rise in the amount of waste being generated daily by each
household. Waste that is not properly managed, especially
excreta and other liquid and solid waste from households and
the community, are a serious health hazard and lead to the
spread of infectious diseases.
