| PCB MOUNT SOLID STATE RELAY
PCB mounted solid state relays, also known as PCB SSR Relay, PCB mountable SSR, PCB mount
SSR, PCB mounting SSR, PCB mount solid-state DIL (Digital Integrated Logic) relay, solid state
PCB-mount relay, which are packaged with standard industry SIP and DIP, can be used directly
on the Printed Circuit Board. The PCB SSR also has the advantages of small size, easy
installation, low price, and etc. According to the output power, the housing of the PCB solid
state relay can be metal or plastic. Because they generate very little heat, it is usually not
necessary to install an additional heat sink.
We offer two series of PCB solid state relays: GJ series and JGX series. GJ series PCB solid state
relays use Single In-line Package mounting dimensions. JGX series PCB solid state relays use
Double In-line Package mounting dimensions. They can be used into application with control
signal (3~32VDC, 0~10mA) and equipment load (1~8A, 5~220VDC, 220VAC/380VAC).

| PANEL MOUNT SOLID STATE RELAY
Panel mount solid state relay, also known as panel SSR Relay, panel mountable SSR, panel mount
SSR, panel mount solid-state DIL (Digital Integrated Logic) relay, solid state panel-mount relay,
panel mount switch, which is usually used as electronic switch. Compared with traditional EMR,
Panel solid state relays have longer service life and lower overall cost. Panel SSRs can be applied
to various industries and fields through different circuit designs. The panel solid state relay uses
standard mounting dimensions with a metal base plate on the bottom that needs to be coated
with silicone and then screwed onto the plate or heat sink.
According to the mounting dimensions and load devices, we offer three package sizes: Standard
Package type, Industrial Package type, Compact Package type.
According to the quantity of loads, panel solid state relays can be divided into: Single Channel
(One Channel DC/Single Phase AC) type, Dual Channel type, Three Channel (Three Channel
DC/Three Phase AC) type, Five Channel type.
According to the input-output signal, panel mount solid state relays can be divided into: DC-DC
type, AC-DC type, DC-AC type, AC-AC type.

MGR-1 Series
Panel Mount Solid State Relay
Introduction
The MGR-1 series 1 Channel/Single Channel Panel Mount Solid State Relay uses the Standard
Package (rectangular shape, TRIAC as the output component). According to the load power supply,
it is divided into MGR-1 series One Channel DC Panel Mount SSR, MGR-1 series Single Phase AC
Panel Mount SSR. According to the I-O (Input-Output) signal, the MGR-1 series can be divided into
MGR-1DD Series (DC-DC), MGR-1AD Series (AC-DC), MGR-1D Series (DC-AC), MGR-1A Series (AC-
AC). According to the trigger mode, the MGR-1 series solid state relay can be divided into MGR-1
series zero-crossing SSR (or zero cross switching SSR), and MGR-1 series random turn-on SSR (or
random fire SSR,). The model number of the MGR-1 zero-crossing turn on solid-state relay is end
with “Blank” or “Z”; the model number of the MGR-1 random turn on solid-state relay is end with

Precautions and FAQs
● If the load current is 10A, a heat sink must be equipped; if the load current is 40A or more, an air-
cooled radiator or a water-cooled radiator must be installed.
● When the load is an inductive load, be sure to connect a varistor in parallel with the output
terminal, whose voltage value is 1.6-1.9 times the load voltage.
● What are the differences between Panel mount SSR and PCB mount SSR?
The panel type solid state relay (or device type, screw mounting type) needs to be fixed on a metal
base plate or a heat sink, and is cooled by a heat sink or an air-cooled radiator. The PCB solid state
relay (or pin mounting type) has the industry standard pin configurations, and can be mounted
directly to the Printed Circuit Board, and the natural cooling as heat dissipation without the need for
a heat sink. The PCB type has a smaller mounting size and a larger power density than the panel
type.
● What is the difference between a Standard Package SSR (TRIAC output) and an Industrial Package
SSR (anti-parallel SCR output)?
For resistive AC loads, the difference between the two is small.
For inductive or capacitive AC loads, when the solid state relay is turned off in the on state, a large
voltage-rise rate dv/dt (commutation dv/dt) will occur due to the inconsistent phase of the current
and voltage. Such dv/dt affects the output efficiency of TRIAC, or even damages TRIAC, but the
effect of commutation dv/dt on anti-parallel SCR is very small. Therefore, for AC loads with large
inductance or capacitance, it is more suitable to choose industrial solid state relays.
● What is the difference between Zero Cross Switching and Random Fire Switching?
According to the trigger timing, the trigger mode of the solid state relay can be divided into Zero
Cross Switching (or Zero-crossing Turn-on) and Random Fire Switching (or Random Turn-on).
When the Zero Crossing Turn-on SSR receives the control signal, it will switch the load after the
load voltage passes the zero-crossing point (which is not a voltage point but actually a voltage
zone, about ±15V), which helps to reduce EMI, RFI and the impulse current; Random Turn on SSR
will switches the load immediately (in few milliseconds) as soon as it receives the control signal, so it
is more suitable for applications with higher delay requirements.

Introduction
MGR-H Series Single Phase DC to AC Panel Mount Solid State Relay uses Industrial Package (long
strip shape, anti-parallel SCR as the trigger component), and can also be called enhanced single-
phase panel solid state relay. According to the trigger mode, MGR-H Series is divided into MGR-
H_Z Series (Zero Crossing) and MGR-H_P Series (Random Fire). According to the load voltage, it is
divided into Normal type (480VAC) and High Voltage type (1200VAC). According to load current, it
can be also divided into Normal type (40A-125A), Large Current type (150A-400A), and Ultra Large
Current type (more than 400A).

terminal, whose voltage value is 1.6-1.9 times the load voltage.

MGR-3X Series
Panel Mount Solid State Relay
Introduction
MGR-3X Series Compact Three Phase AC Panel Mount Solid State Relay (or Miniature Panel Mount
Solid State Relay, Mini Panel Mount Solid State Relay) uses Compact Package, which currently is the
smallest Three Phase Panel Mount AC Solid State Relay in the MGR product line. MGR-3X is not a
stand-alone device but a device integrated a heat sink, so you should consider the installation
space when choosing this series. According to the control signal, MGR-3X can be divided into
MGR-3X_D Series (DC to AC), and MGR-3X_A Series (AC-AC). The MGR-3X Series has the same
characteristics as the MGR-3 Series, and its volume is half (1/2) of the MGR-3 Series (with heat sink),
therefore, the MGR-3X is more suitable for equipment where the installation space or power density
is highly demanding.

The PCB type has a smaller mounting size and a larger power density than the panel
type.

| VOLTAGE/POWER REGULATOR
Voltage regulator, also known as power regulator, voltage power regulator, power conditioner,
or electronic voltage regulator (EVR). The voltage regulator is used to adjust the load voltage to
reach the rated voltage range that the load device can tolerate. It has the advantages of small
control fluctuation, smooth output current and voltage rise, etc. The regulator uses solid-state
semiconductor devices as output components. It works like a variable resistor (varistor), by
changing the conduction angle α of the output component to smoothly change the load current
to change the load voltage (load power).
The phase-shift module cannot work independently. The phase shifting module can only provide
a variable conduction angle α, and it also needs a synchronous transformer and a power output
circuit to realize the voltage regulation function.
According to different control signal sources, voltage regulators can be divided into
Potentiometer type, Analog Signal type, Digital Signal type.
According to the electrical insulation between the control signal source and the power supply,
voltage regulators can be divided into Non Full-isolation type, Full-isolation type.
According to the quantity of loads, voltage regulators can be divided into Single Channel/Single
Phase type, Dual Channel type, Three Channel/Three Phase type.
The MGR-EUV series regulators externally house the synchronous transformer and use the
standard package of solid state relay to reduce the size.

Precautions and FAQs
● If the load current is 10A, a heat sink must be equipped; if the load current is 40A or more, an air-

  • 3. | PCB MOUNT SOLID STATE RELAY PCB mounted solid state relays, also known as PCB SSR Relay, PCB mountable SSR, PCB mount SSR, PCB mounting SSR, PCB mount solid-state DIL (Digital Integrated Logic) relay, solid state PCB-mount relay, which are packaged with standard industry SIP and DIP, can be used directly on the Printed Circuit Board. The PCB SSR also has the advantages of small size, easy installation, low price, and etc. According to the output power, the housing of the PCB solid state relay can be metal or plastic. Because they generate very little heat, it is usually not necessary to install an additional heat sink. We offer two series of PCB solid state relays: GJ series and JGX series. GJ series PCB solid state relays use Single In-line Package mounting dimensions. JGX series PCB solid state relays use Double In-line Package mounting dimensions. They can be used into application with control signal (3~32VDC, 0~10mA) and equipment load (1~8A, 5~220VDC, 220VAC/380VAC). You can visit the following pages to find out which products you are interested in and more details about them (e.g. functions, applications, specifications, outline drawings, mounting dimension drawings, circuit wiring diagrams, Precautions). www.huimultd.com 1

Application ● Various commercial and industrial equipment that requires an electronic switch, especially but not limited to air conditioners, balers, household appliances, heating or cooling equipment, professional food equipment, medical machines, remote control system, automotive, lighting system, motion control system, numerical control machinery. Precautions and FAQs ● If the load current is 10A, a heat sink must be equipped; if the load current is 40A or more, an air- cooled radiator or a water-cooled radiator must be installed. ● When the load is an inductive load, be sure to connect a varistor in parallel with the output terminal, whose voltage value is 1.6-1.9 times the load voltage. ● What are the differences between Panel mount SSR and PCB mount SSR? The panel type solid state relay (or device type, screw mounting type) needs to be fixed on a metal base plate or a heat sink, and is cooled by a heat sink or an air-cooled radiator. The PCB solid state relay (or pin mounting type) has the industry standard pin configurations, and can be mounted directly to the Printed Circuit Board, and the natural cooling as heat dissipation without the need for a heat sink. The PCB type has a smaller mounting size and a larger power density than the panel type. ● What is the difference between a Standard Package SSR (TRIAC output) and an Industrial Package SSR (anti-parallel SCR output)? For resistive AC loads, the difference between the two is small. For inductive or capacitive AC loads, when the solid state relay is turned off in the on state, a large voltage-rise rate dv/dt (commutation dv/dt) will occur due to the inconsistent phase of the current and voltage. Such dv/dt affects the output efficiency of TRIAC, or even damages TRIAC, but the effect of commutation dv/dt on anti-parallel SCR is very small. Therefore, for AC loads with large inductance or capacitance, it is more suitable to choose industrial solid state relays. ● What is the difference between Zero Cross Switching and Random Fire Switching? According to the trigger timing, the trigger mode of the solid state relay can be divided into Zero Cross Switching (or Zero-crossing Turn-on) and Random Fire Switching (or Random Turn-on). When the Zero Crossing Turn-on SSR receives the control signal, it will switch the load after the load voltage passes the zero-crossing point (which is not a voltage point but actually a voltage zone, about ±15V), which helps to reduce EMI, RFI and the impulse current; Random Turn on SSR will switches the load immediately (in few milliseconds) as soon as it receives the control signal, so it is more suitable for applications with higher delay requirements. PANEL MOUNT SOLID STATE RELAY www.huimultd.com 49

The voltage regulator is used to adjust the load voltage to reach the rated voltage range that the load device can tolerate. It has the advantages of small control fluctuation, smooth output current and voltage rise, etc. The regulator uses solid-state semiconductor devices as output components. It works like a variable resistor (varistor), by changing the conduction angle α of the output component to smoothly change the load current to change the load voltage (load power). The phase-shift module cannot work independently. The phase shifting module can only provide a variable conduction angle α, and it also needs a synchronous transformer and a power output circuit to realize the voltage regulation function. According to different control signal sources, voltage regulators can be divided into Potentiometer type, Analog Signal type, Digital Signal type. According to the electrical insulation between the control signal source and the power supply, voltage regulators can be divided into Non Full-isolation type, Full-isolation type. According to the quantity of loads, voltage regulators can be divided into Single Channel/Single Phase type, Dual Channel type, Three Channel/Three Phase type. The MGR-EUV series regulators externally house the synchronous transformer and use the standard package of solid state relay to reduce the size. • 81. ● What is the difference between a Standard Package SSR (TRIAC output) and an Industrial Package SSR (anti-parallel SCR output)?
