Our solar system consists of the Sun and eight planets, including Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, as well as their moons, asteroids, and comets. The inner planets Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are smaller rocky bodies, while the outer planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are larger gaseous planets. Each planet has unique characteristics such as Jupiter having the largest mass and a Great Red Spot, while Earth is the only known planet capable of sustaining life.
