What is Gendercide
 There is no definition for Gendercide in the dictionary.
 The term Gendercide was first used by Mary Anne Warner
in her book Gendercide: The Implications of Sex Selection
 Gendercide referrers to “gender selective mass killing”.

Or Sexism, is the belief that one sex has more value than the other.
Gender Discrimination
 Sexist attitudes can stem from traditional stereotypes to cultural and
religious beliefs.
Sex selection and Infanticide, which are types of Gendercide that has grown
from being simply a son preference to hating daughters.
 I would like to not that the sex of a child is determined by the male.
It has been estimated that 12 million female babies have died in the last three
decades.
Social Stratification
How people in a society are ranked by socioeconomic levels.
Caste System
 The caste system is the social standing a person is born
into is where the person will remain their whole lives.
 This is very important to the Indian culture.
 The caste system is based on a ranking system.
 The caste system takes away the freedom of individual
value.
 Women in the lower part of the caste system or who is
considered a slave, are the women who suffer the most
from Gendercide.

 There is conflict in every aspect of an Indian woman's life.

belief in cultural norms of the
Indian society.
 Wife beatings lead to a higher

abuses or other grave actions.
But dowry has devalued marriage into a
business transaction.

 Goa Polygamy a law in India which allows a second marriage for the
husband when there is no son from the first marriage.
 When a woman cannot or does not b a boy she is often
abandoned and divorce.
 The law in India sides with the males. A woman cannot own
property or have her own money (Gender Inequality).

eldest male,.
 The eldest female directs the activities
of the other females in the residence.
 The mother-in-law tells the wife
or wives what to do.
