The document discusses a study that aimed to understand how user-generated pictures on Flickr could be used to determine similarity between destinations for recommendation purposes. The researchers harvested pictures from 233 cities on Flickr and represented each city based on tags from the pictures. Four systems using different tag data were tested with users, with one system using random tags from pictures (System C) found to be most reliable. The results indicate it is possible to define similar destinations and recommend them based on analyzing tags from user-uploaded pictures on social media platforms like Flickr.
This document discusses tourism reputation in the age of social media. It notes that consumers now comment frequently on their experiences online through social media. It explores conceptualizing online reputation from social web, web search, and firm/brand management perspectives. Online reputation is seen as an aggregation of feedback from various online sources. Firms must listen and engage with consumers online, tell stories, and co-create personalized experiences to manage their online reputation in this new environment.

The panel workshop discussed emotions in online tourist feedback. It addressed whether web reputation can be managed by aggregating all online feedback and representations about an organization. While web reputation may be influenced mechanically, the human factor is a central issue. Examples from Slovenia and Basilicata showed how emotions can be generated in online content but whether they can be managed or tracked requires further discussion.

This document discusses a usability study conducted on the VisitBath.co.uk website, which is a destination marketing organization website for Bath, UK. The researchers created a usability kit to test the website based on user profiles, goals, tasks, and heuristics. They found some usability issues around search results organization, depth anticipation when booking tickets online, and the shop section. Analysis of website usage logs validated some of the usability problems found during testing, such as issues with the search engine. Overall, the study found the website to be of high quality but with room for improvement on some usability issues.
This document analyzes the convergence of tourism destination information from official and unofficial sources on the web. It examines the search results and classification of websites for keywords related to visiting London. Both official tourism organization websites and unofficial websites provided information, but unofficial sites lacked authority and objectivity while official sites were authoritative but lacked currency. Integrating high quality unofficial information from sources like user-generated content sites could improve tourism organizations' online information strategies.
The eTreasure project aims to enhance tourists' cultural experiences through a treasure hunt game played via SMS and MMS.
