A survey was conducted of 332 doctors and nurses in Italy working in emergency or critical care about their use of social media for medical education. The majority were between 36-55 years old and worked in intensive care units. Most used social media at least once a day to find quick resources and stay updated on the latest scientific articles and evidence-based medicine. While social media was seen as time-consuming, users preferred content with images, videos, and identifiable credible authors from scientific journals and institutions.
