In 2010 DECODE conducted a quantitative study (DECODING DIGITAL FRIENDS) focusing on how young people (ages 15 – 34) use social media and other digital communication technologies.
The study was conducted in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K.
The sample size was n > 1,000 for each country.
A person had to be a social media user in order to be included.
This quiz highlights a few of the interesting gender-related insights this data revealed.
An advertisement (or "ad" for short) is anything that draws good attention towards these things. It is usually designed by an identified sponsor, and performed through a variety of media. Ads appear on television, as well as radio, newspapers, magazines and as billboards in streets and cities.
As social users, we heard advice about social media left, right, and center! The 10 most common ones I hear from people either through conversation, or conducted as a question in a training session are the ones listed in this ppt! Check out these statements, and ask yourself …do they sound right, or are they false? I’ve included a tip after each slide, which would tell you whether you’re right or wrong, and why.

On Feb 13th 2012 to mark the launch of the 2012 Social Media Awards we ran a digital/social media table quiz in the Grand Social in Dublin.
These are the questions and rounds that had those in attendance frantically googling, tweeting and goggling to get the answers. We encouraged the use of smartphones during the quiz so some of the tasks and questions were extra hard!!
We also setup a number of twitter accounts for each table in advance of the quiz as a number of the rounds required that answers be submitted via twitter. There were also a number of spot prizes and bonus points awarded to teams for teams who carries out specific tasks on twitter etc.
