This document discusses ways to make C-level executives happy with an organization's SOA efforts. It recommends having the key building blocks of principles, best practices, reference architectures, frameworks, reusable components, product expertise, processes, and governance. These building blocks can help achieve SOA maturity. Specifically, it suggests having a SOA methodology, governance approach, investing in products, expertise, frameworks, following best practices, and using reference architectures. Establishing these can help deliver projects on time, reuse components, reduce costs, and provide successful projects and ROI to executive leadership.

A successful Agile transformation requires a combination of people, process and technology, but too often these aspects are treated separately. Agile Coaches insist on remaining tool agnostic, and the agile management software experts often do not know the Agile process. Organizations with successful Agile teams often fail to replicate this success when they attempt to scale these practices throughout the software delivery organization.
To succeed in transforming to Agile, organizations must replace this fragmented approach with one that connects the entire application lifecycle with tools that are tightly integrated and automated to support processes. Join us as we demonstrate how this unified approach allows companies to
speed delivery through real-time collaboration
increase visibility of project status and compliance with cross tool traceability and reporting
encourage the use of specialized tools that support practitioners’ process.

The three Rs: Roles Responsibilities RelationshipsRob England
IT is about people, and more specifically the 3 R’s – roles, responsibilities and relationships. Rob will highlight that this is the key to getting the people side of IT right; define and communicate clearly everybody's roles, responsibilities, and build and cement strong relationships both within IT and with internal and external business partners too. According to Rob, if we can agree who does what and to whom first, then the processes and tools will follow. Without that, IT initiatives are doomed to fail: all the shiny flowcharts and software in the world won't affect improvements until people are working together effectively. Rob will also discuss how to design service models to make sure everybody plays their part: operating models (or their subset support models), engagement models and RACI charts for each practice. He will also look at what we need and what tools are available to help you get there.

Agile software development is a group of software development methods in which requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between self-organizing, cross-functional teams. It promotes adaptive planning, evolutionary development, early delivery, continuous improvement, and encourages rapid and flexible response to change.
The Agile development model is also a type of Incremental model. Software is developed in incremental, rapid cycles. This results in small incremental releases with each release building on previous functionality. Each release is thoroughly tested to ensure software quality is maintained. It is used for time critical applications.
Break Through Agile Transformation StagnationTasktop
Transformation to Agile at scale typically takes 1-3 years. There is a pattern of adoption that most companies go through that achieves initial gains, but tends to stagnate after the initial improvement. In order for true value delivery to significantly increase, a mindset shift that ties business strategy all the way down to the team level is required.
In this webinar, Tasktop VP of Industry Strategy, Betty Zakheim, and Net Objectives CEO, Al Shalloway, discuss the challenges causing Agile transformation stagnation and what must be done to solve them.

Architecture Series 5-4 Solution Architecture DraftFrankie Hsiang
Use Solution Architecture as a tool to produce solid solutions that fully meet business needs, within budget, deploy on schedule, easy to maintain, and use fewer resources.
It is difficult to overstate the importance of governance to SOA initiatives, whether in the context of service governance (i.e. governing the lifecycle of services from creation through deployment) or the broader issues of IT governance (commonly defined as specifying the decision rights and accountability framework to encourage desirable behavior in the use of IT). This session presents a holistic discussion of governance with SOA. It outlines the key policies that organizations should consider with regards to finance, portfolios, operations, architecture, technology, projects and people. It will also outline six successful steps to governance with SOA, as part of the decisions, processes and policies that contribute to successful business and SOA objectives. The presenters will address, how as part of the execution of an SOA strategy, organizations should put together a SOA Roadmap. Also discussed is how organizations need to govern the execution of the SOA Roadmap to ensure delivery of all SOA and business objectives.
10 Steps to Simplify and Improve Service-Oriented Architecture GovernancePerficient, Inc.
Even after engaging in years of SOA efforts, many companies still suffer from SOA governance problems including funding issues, process inefficiencies, and operational problems.
Too many companies look to software to solve their SOA governance issues when SOA governance is more about people and process than technology.
Join Perficient to examine the 10 steps to improved SOA governance:
1. Align SOA projects with business goals
2. Develop a collaborative organization for SOA governance
3. Define organizational roles and responsibilities
4. Establish the SOA lifecycle process and policies
5. Adjust your software development lifecycle for SOA
6. Define SOA foundational standards
7. Define run-time processes
8. Determine the role of technology in your governance processes
9. Establish SOA measurements and monitoring techniques
10. Evolve and improve SOA governance over time
We will also take a pragmatic look at SOA governance to help you:
• Understand SOA Governance best practices
• Identify gaps in your SOA Governance processes
• Define next steps to improve SOA Governance
EA governance is the practice by which enterprise architectures are managed and controlled at an enterprise-wide level. Governance processes should be tailored to the particular environment of the organization, as well as the architectural goals and objectives of that organization, and should never hinder time to market. A centralized governance body can facilitate and drive key functional and architectural decisions across the primary internal stakeholders to ensure that the enterprise architecture addresses customers’ needs.
The presenter has implemented numerous EA governance organizations. As part of a major pharmaceutical distribution company’s corporate-wide SOA adoption program, he adapted the basic governance frameworks such as TOGAF to the organization and the objectives of the SOA adoption program. This session will examine the processes that were used to create an EA Governance organization at a major energy company and lessons learned at this company, as well as at other organizations.

Transformation of the Enterprise to SOAtom termini
A Service Oriented Architecture SOA Roadmap provides guidance and coordination. All roadmap building follows the same four steps:
•Where are we now?
•Where do we want to be?
•What is the gap between the two?
•What is the path to get to where we want to be?
These steps require a consistent measurement to
assess current state and progress toward the goal.
Enterprise architecture and service oriented architecture (SOA) go hand-in-glove, as Tom Termini writes in his book, Zen of SOA. “The Zen of SOA,” Tom Termini, co-founder of BlueDog — which designs SOA solutions for the public and private sectors — contends that a Zen approach can give organizations a comprehensive blueprint for modern software architectures. BlueDog has helped federal organizations such as the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission implement SOA and Web services.
SOA Methodology - Strategy (as of 2010)Akiva Marks
This historical presentation, circa 2010, describes strategies for moving towards Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in enterprise application building and software architectures. It discusses how to manage it, approach it, get value and avoid issues.

Smarter Integration Using the IBM SOA Foundation Stack: Best Practices and Le...Prolifics
Abstract: Enterprise integration can be challenging given the number of products, teams and technology frameworks involved. At the same time, most organizations require their applications to seamlessly communicate with each other, internally and externally. Our experience as field practitioners have enabled us to see these challenges up close and after fighting many battles to successfully implement integrated solutions, we want to share the best practices and lessons learned. We will be discussing IBM products such as DataPower, Integration Bus, BPM, WSRR and SmartCloud APM; however, many of these best practices are product and technology agnostic. We will be looking at what it takes from an organizational, personal and architecture perspective.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
