Describe the involvement and participation of African American civilians and soldiers in the Great
War (WWI), 1917 1918.
Initially when the war started, United States remained reluctant. Black citizens saw a chance to be
successful in the approval of their white neighbors. America was a divided society and Blacks
were well thought out at best as second class citizens. Yet regardless of that, there were many Black
people prepared to work in the nation s military, but even as it became obvious that United States
were to enter the war in Europe, Black Americans were still being ignored from working in the
Armed Forces. United States entered the war in April 1917. More than 4.6 million people both
men and women served their forces, National Guard units as well as draft units.
They were faced by many challenges. For instance, over 50000 people were killed in the action
while more than 60000 deaths came as a result of diseases and other causes. Many were also
injured during the war. Among the states which supplied most soldiers were New York, Ohio,
Illinois and Pennsylvania.
While still biased, the Army was more progressive in race affairs than the other branches of the

a sense of unease and angst. Our society and all its needs for advancement from technology and
overabundance is our chosen answer to all our problems, and we rely on such things for a higher
quality and easier life.
Yet, it doesnt seem to be getting better, our problems continue and in ways even increase as a result
of our incessant progression towards a brighter future.
Amidst the massive changes in society we face, we as a result constantly question our reality and
purpose within it, and this rapid mechanized world usually pushes aside any sense of community. I
think a capitalist; consumerist society creates in us a sense of alienation entirely new to our modern
times.
I want to understand the deeper reasons behind this, not only because i think it is very important
but also because i feel it is largely misunderstand and overlooked for such a huge complicated issue

An Elizabethan sonnet is a poem that contains 14 lines. Each line is usually 10 syllables long.
However, Shakespeare created his own type of sonnet that also has 14 lines, but also follows a
rhyme scheme of ababcdcdefefgg. Not only that, but the Shakespearean sonnets also have iambic
pentameter which give the sonnetsa rhythm or beat by emphasizing every other syllable.
Shakespearean sonnets are very similar to those of Petrarchan lovers. The main idea of these
sonnets are usually about exaggerated and romantic love. These sonnets were created by a man
named Francesco Petrarch. He was an Italian student during the Renaissance who lived in
Petrarch, Italy. Petrarch then fell in love with a woman named Laura, and shortly after he began
to write sonnets about her. Many people who also lived in the city continued what Francesco had
started. The ideal woman of the time and in Petrarchan sonnets was blonde, had a high forehead,
had bright eyes, and had pale skin. In the sonnets, they are exaggerated so much that they are
almost viewed as angels or goddesses. In William Shakespeare s Sonnet130, he compares his
mistress to the ideal woman from Petrarchan sonnets, and in a way, mocks them for their ridiculous
flattery. In Sonnet 130, William Shakespeare s use of similes, metaphors, and tone illustrate the
complex nature of love, and reject the clichГ© concepts of ideal love.
First, the narrator compares his mistress to the ideal Petrarchan woman. His tone is very harsh and

due to drugs and dangerous lifestyles, unnecessarily long and obnoxious solo performances, and
overly loud and unnecessary amps that almost sounded like they were going all the way to 11
instead of 10. It seemed that Rock and Roll was dying out or becoming oversaturated as a musical
genre. It is in this environment that the movie This is Spinal Tap bases itself in.
This is Spinal Tap is a 1984 mock documentary or mockumentary about a fictitious band named
Spinal Tap. The movie is told from the interviewing perspective of director Rob Reineras he
interviews and follows the British band for their United States concert tour for their new album,
Smell My Glove . Throughout the film and tour, almost everything seems to be going wrong for the
band. From drops in concert attendance, issues releasing their album cover due to controversial
imagery, sudden changes in management, and the general childish behaviour of the band holding
them back.
The film pokes fun at the many real life rock stars and bands that existed at the time; including

Human beings strive to have better knowledge and intellect in their daily lives. However, can the
power of intelligence be considered a negative aspect? In the play, Hamlet written by William
Shakespeare, the topic of intelligence is a predominant theme that is woven through two of the
main characters: Hamlet and Claudius. Although Hamlet and Claudius are sworn enemies, they
are much more similar in character than meets the eye. Even though Hamlet appears to be insane,
he actually deceives the other characters to retaliate his father s wicked murder. Hamlet s strong
use of words and his significant soliloquies shows that he is well aware of what is happening
around him. Similarly, Claudius is truly the king of deception and trickery. Although, he seems to
have the whole kingdom fooled about his identity, Hamlet is the only one who is able to use his
intelligence to see through the King s faГ§ade. Similarly, Hamlet s insanity appears to deceive
everyone, except Claudius, who believes there is something more to it. Both Claudius and Hamlet
use intelligence to gain power, to discover the concealed truth, and ultimately to get revenge.

1. Freud s essay on The Sexual Aberrations posits the existence of a sexual urge, called libido ,
which Freud finds analogous to hunger. Freud suggests that, like hunger, the libido manifests
itself more or less from birth. The chief question for Freud in this paper is why libido should
manifest itself in unexpected ways as with inversion , which is the slightly old fashioned term

In most non English speaking European nations tobacco use is almost considered a national
pastime. In countries like France and Italy smokers are a majority of the population in general,
so the metal fans do not really stand apart from the cultural norm. In Asian countries smoking is
more socially acceptable than in English speaking countries, but there is a slightly higher rate of

thanking you for allowing me to speak on the topic of how the stereotypical roles of women
have changed and evolved in a positive manner since the Elizabethan era. I will start by defining
a few beneficial terms before discussing how Shakespeare s Taming of the Shrew has been
appropriated by Gil Junger s in the 1999 movie, 10 Things I Hate About You.
To make a modern adaptation of a highly recognised 16th century play, one would have to have a
perfect mix of both similarities and differences between the two, integrating elements from both
eras. Junger, the director of 10 Things I Hate About You has managed to achieve this. By using
many of the same characters and the same plot from Taming of the Shrew, he created a modernised
appropriation of the Shakespeare play that incorporates aspects of teen society. The Taming of the
Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You are similar in many ways, one way they are different
however is how since the Elizabethan Era the nature and role of women in society has changed
considerably.

The Importance Of Work-Life Diversity In Life
The type of environment one works in can greatly influence the risk involved and the level of
satisfaction within that career. When working in an environment with others, I prefer one that
is task driven, open to diversity, and one that promotes work life balance. With this type of work
environment a career can grow to be enjoyable and innovative. I believe work life balance is
something all individuals should strive for in careers and knowing how to balance the scale
between life at work and life outside of work is a key factor to being successful in life. Not many
people know how to incorporate and structure work life balance into their everyday lives making
their jobs both stressful and often unsatisfying. Meanwhile, having job diversity can provide the
opportunity for being open to change and the advantage of knowing how to work with various
type of people. In the past, I have worked at jobs that have incorporated work diversity and it has
taught me how to be a better employee and co worker by examining others work ethics and
understanding how they view work life. According to Waldron and Kassing (2011) having diversity
in the workplace can lead to many benefits such as an even distribution of power, commitment
within the organization, and a career fulfillment (p. 139). I feel that work relationship are not

People are not smart for trying to put laws on how many kids a family can have. The
government would start with something this small, and make it grow larger until they have too
much power. The government (THEY)would abuse the power. There are people dying almost as
much as babies are being born. We are evening out the amount of people in this world. So i think
that (so i think is not needed)People should continue having as many kids as they want. If we
take away the privilege of having kids, we would probably start more violence and stress in the
U.S. There are many different things that need restrictions, but laws on how many children a
couple can have is not a good law.
