WHAT IS SMART SCHOOL?
DEFINITION
A learning institution that
has been systematically
integrated with ICT in terms
of teaching-learning
practices and school
management in order to
prepare children for the
Information Age.
IDEAS
To revolutionize the education
system through a holistic
approach to a development
that focuses on the individual,
making value based education
available to anyone, anytime
and anywhere.
ISSUE 1 : LACK OF TECHNOLOGICAL
INFRASTRUCTURE AND TEACHING
MATERIALS IN SCHOOL
• Limitation in infrastructure – Computer labs,
smart whiteboard and media mass materials.
• Limited internet connection – Rural area
• Shortage of computers
Heavy investment on infrastructure
and maintenance
ISSUES 2: LACK OF EXPERIENCED AND
SKILLED TEACHERS
• Experienced teacher – lack of ICT knowledge
• New teachers – lack intensive training
• Readiness of teachers to adapt with the new
concept of learning and teaching
Teaching and learning process in
classroom is not efficient
ISSUES 3 : STUDENT’S PROBLEM
• Passive student – hope every material
provided by teachers and lack of effort or spirit
to gain knowledge.
• Slow learner student – face with challenges to
adapt with new technique and learning
process using ICT in classroom.
Students get bored during learning sessions
in classroom and less fun
APPROACH TO RESOLVE ISSUES
• Improve technological infrastructure and
teaching materials in school
• Training for the teachers
• teachers should change their mindset to adapt
with new environment and changes in teaching
process.
• Teachers should be more creative to attract
student’s interest during learning session in
classroom .
CONCLUSION
The implementation of smart school need
further study in order to overcome all this
issues and challenges for better future as
smart school in Malaysia has a bright future.
In order to promote the goals of National
philosophy of education, the establishment
of smart school is a big leap in our local
education.
