Smart Retro, a smart city project by Demos Helsinki and it’s distinguished partners, was kicked off in a spirit of enthusiastic co-operation. Smart Retro aims for creating effective business models and tools, which can be used for refurbishing residential areas in smart and sustainable ways. This is one of the presentations held in Smart Retro Meetup.

Prioritized areas
We focus our efforts on the areas where we have the greatest opportunity to influence and where we can have the greatest impact. Therefore, we have identified the following prioritized sub-areas:
1. Energy consumption
2. Material consumption
3. Waste
4. Transports and travel

But also when it comes to how our tenanta are using the building.
Therefore we try to provide them with different services to help them to develop and be more succesful in their business, but also make it easier for them to be sustainable.
Here are three exampels of services that we provide.
Another way of helping our tenants to be more sucessful is to make them use our buildings more efficently.
At an office of today only around 30% of the desks are being used during the day.
That is anenormous waste of resourses. I mean it actually doesnt count if we try to save energy in the building if the building then is not used in an efficent way.
Interresting future with different kind of business models where companies share more, use less resourses and pay for their premises in a totally differnt way.
