In part I of the psychology in media project I reviewed the article "Why Young Girls Don't Think They are Smart Enough" written by Sarah–Jane
Leslie and Andrei Cimpain. The authors of this article explored the psychological research they conducted– along with Lin Bian – which is aimed at
discovering the underlying cause for the disparities between men and women across academic disciplines. In the media article published in the New
York Timesthe authors concluded that stereotypes are mainly to blame for these disparities. They also noted that these social stereotypes start affecting
girls as young as the age of six, and that the shift in thought is drastic. In a more formal report which they published in Science Magazine, through a set

The writers do also state alternatives for the results of studies one to four, among them that boys are held back which may inflate confidence and
women's modesty norms. They also give reason for why these alternatives are not possible. The writers omit writing about the alternatives all together
in the media article. All in all, I believe that both works are very well written informative pieces. Both are concise, easy to read, and very get to the
point. The main difference is that the media article pushes a call to action by stating suggesting methods in which we can change how this
"brilliance=males" stereotype is affecting young girls. This is definitely an understandable difference due to the fact that the media article is directed
towards the general public, while the science journal is mostly directed towards the scientific community. I believe that the writers did a fantastic job in
the NY times article, however I believe that the article would have benefitted from using more real life anecdotes to show the extent to which this
"brilliance=males" stereotype can affect women. Altogether, I strongly agree with both the media article and the scientific journal, something has to be

Montessori Class Reflection
These two past weeks we have been doing a lot of lecture series in class, which I enjoy a lot, I feel like I learn better when having a power point
presentation to see, read, and listened to, instead of just talking about something or reading it. This past week we also had our first paper due, our
thoughts and beliefs paper which we had time to talk about what we wrote about with a partner. I thought this was a very insightful way to see how
other people interpreted the same assignment, and even though we both answered the questions we may have answered them in a different way or a
different perspective. So far in class we have gone over some general theories of play, some of which I had already learned about in my developmental
psych class, but others that I had not really hear of before. One of the surprising things I learned was about was the Montessori schools. Up until this
class I had a negative connotation towards Montessori schools because one of my friends went there for kindergarten through fourth grade and she
felt like they didn't properly prepare her for public schooling. She was behind in most of her classes, and didn't feel like she could easily catch up. But
after learning that the Montessori schools teach independence to children I realize how she has often acted more mature and independent from people

In the book "Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi, a middle eastern girl who is coming of age, finds that her environment changes her as the country that she
is in goes through an unstable violent state. With the rise of multiple changes, Marji's family must learn how to adjust to the changing times. While
Marji becomes a bystander to the persecution, violence ,and revolution, the main theme of the book is stay true to one's self and forming one's true

Introduction
Young mothers, those under the age of 25, are a special group of women. They can be wonderful parents and love their children as much as older
mothers who are more prepared for their children, however younger mothers can have higher risks for some issues such as depression. There are some
ways that can help lower these risks and these include increasing social support networks for young mothers.
The Aggregate
The aggregate chosen for this paper is that of young mothers. For the purpose of this paper young mothers will constitute any mother under the age of
25. The aggregate of young mothers can be linked to chapter 15, maternal and child health from Community Health Nursing by Stamler and Yiu
(2012). In this group of women some may be married, some single, some have higher education, and some are high school dropouts, but they all are
under the age of 25 who have one or more children.
The Issue Affecting The Aggregate
One issue that is a concern for young mothers is a lack of social support leading to an increased risk for depression. The risk of depression for a
young mother is higher than that of the risk for older mothers to develop depression (Lanzi, Bert, & Jacobs, 2009). The risk for depression is a health
issue as depression lowers the mother's warmth and sensitivity towards her child, which links to poorer behavior in the infant, and also links to the

1. The main question Marjorie Prime opens for the audience is, "what can technology do for the human experience?" The answer to this question is
tricky, but I think it was covered well throughout the play by focusing on the idea of, " what would you say to a person you loved if they were still
here?" First, the definition of "the human experience" is all of the emotions and events someone will experience throughout their lifetime; examples
fitting for this play are grieving and death. The first moment from Marjorie Prime where I felt the meaning was the first time we see Walter Prime.
Walter Prime is clean cut and smooth in his dark blue suit and oxford shoes. He could pass for human, but his voice is eerily like that of a male Siri

They look after each other as a family would! The recruits are taught to challenge themselves to their limits, they learn to recognise what motivates
them and they will develop their own self confidence. They also learn about the benefits of team involvement, resilience and the value that discipline

Childhood, in the 21st century, has become the center of attention because of the highly influential book "Centuries of Childhood" published in the year
1960. In the book, Aries (1960) argued that the concept has been created by the modern history and further indicated that children were considered as

Opinion
This in my opinion was a very interesting account of American Indian rituals. Lame Deer did a great job on comparing and contrasting the "white
folks" way of life with his own. He told us how Indian children are typically never left alone which gives us a better understanding on why he was
so afraid of being alone on the hilltop. I feel like in this story I really got a better understanding of the Indian way of life. They seem to be very tight
knit group who value tradition above everything. Family seems to be the most important theme as demonstrated by his grandmothers willingness to
cut forty pieces of her own flesh in order to make the rattle. This whole aspect about them is admirable but at the same time I feel like they don't
really take any actual logic into account. The whole vision determines your life labor seem really fallible in my opinion. I can't really relate to this
story in the sense that I have never really experienced any of these things as im not a Sioux. I do think though that this story can be related into our
modern world in the sense that many kids are pushed into choosing a life career at a relatively young age. Lame Deer was only 16 at the time but
that is only a mere two years younger than kids today. To some extent I found admirable that he at such a young age had already known what his life's

Every individual is influenced, in some way, by the people and environment around them. I believe that experiences in one's life, good or bad, are
able to shape the individual into who they want to become. As we can see, emerging adulthood emphasizes these types of learning experiences of
exploring and independently living. These times of exploration are available for individuals, who live in a developed and economic society, because
these individuals "marry later, have children later, obtain more education, and have a greater range of occupational and recreational opportunities"

Why I Am A Motor Skill
When observing Presley, with her body size you noticed she is larger than the other children around her. I was informed by one of the caregivers she
is the oldest out of the children there. Not knowing actual height and weight, comparing her to the other children, she was taller and looked fuller.
Presley is two years old and if fully walking. Under the gross motor skill, the third element in the dynamic system; practice– unbalanced, wide–legged,

Imagine this, a young boy being wrenched from his sobbing mother's arms by local militants, kicking and screaming. These mothers are forced to

called it classic of early twentieth–century disability (Lobb 34). The Little Locksmith charts a memoir about Katharine's struggles to transcend
physical limitations and embrace her life, her body, and herself in the midst of debilitating bouts of frustration and shame. That expands her world
far beyond the boundaries. She grew a lot of confidence during her life she said her life was transformed that just keeps getting better and better. Her
story is a frightful tragedy that was resigned into quite modest work of art. That's all Katharine ever was full of art and love. No matter how much her
