Jonny was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in Chinese Language which included studying abroad at Sichuan University, National Taiwan University, and Nanjing University. He worked as a Student Ambassador at Arizona State visiting hundreds of primary and secondary school students across the Phoenix Valley giving presentations on Chinese language and culture. In 2014, he wrote articles and reported for 美食 Gourmand Magazine, a monthly food publication in Nanjing with work that focused mainly on the confluence of Western and Chinese cuisine in Nanjing and Shanghai. More recently, he has been involved with Smart Air filters, helping Chinese residents to cope with the onslaught of PM2.5 and keep their home and family safe from the harmful effects of industrial pollution. He currently lives in Nanjing with wife and newborn daughter. While we wait for bigger changes that will hopefully bring better air for the people of the People’s Republic, Jonny will talk about his organization, Smart Air, whose mission is to let the world know that clean air in your home doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.
