1) The volunteer experience at Mount Sinai Hospital helped develop observational skills through exposures to elderly patients with various conditions. 2) An award was received for leadership skills demonstrated at Ontario Place, including resolving guest issues and encouraging team performance. 3) Customer service skills were strengthened through explaining safety reasons for closing a ride to an upset guest at Ontario Place, resolving the issue without supervisor involvement.

Skill obtained= Observational skills:
During my volunteer experience with the
doctors of Mount Sinai, I was able to
become apprised with their methodology. I
have also gained myriad exposures to
elderly patients with various conditions. My
observational skills, was the skill that was
used the most during this experience.

2. Star Story #2 (Ontario Place Award)
Skill Obtained = Leadership Skill
On more than one occasion I put in 100%
effort on resolving the guest issues which
emerges in Ontario Place. I also encourage
my team to do their best to provide optimal
performance for the guests of Ontario
Place. The management team recognized
my leadership skills and awarded me for my
performance. I am grateful to receive the
award due to the fact that some workplaces
and jobs do not provide awards to their
employees (and I am fortunate to be
awarded due to the fact that Ontario Place
has other team leaders with their own set of
successful methods for leading their team).

3. Star Story #3 (Ontario Place)
Skill Obtained = Customer/ Guest Service Skill
Every day is a different day at work and due to the fact that
many of our rides relies on sunny warm weather in order for
guests to enjoy the experience to its fullest and for safety
reasons, we may have to sometimes shutdown the ride.
There is the example of when a guest said they specifically
came to Ontario Place to ride the pedal boats at Bob’s Boat
Yard. Unfortunately on that day there was lots of wind (it
was extremely windy), so we had to shut down the ride for
safety reasons. The guest was upset and wanted to ride the
pedal boats regardless of the windy weather and requested
to speak with a supervisor or manager. I called for a
supervisor to speak with the guest and the supervisor said
they will be there in ten minutes. As we waited for the
supervisor to arrive, I explained with more detail the reason
why we had to close down the ride. I explained that due to
the level of wind , the boat will not function properly and will
not turn in the desired direction when using the boat handle
to steer and that there is a chance that the boat may turn
over due to the level of wind. I said to the guest if the wind
is calmer later on, we can reopen the ride. I recommended
some rides/attractions that were popular and exciting to go
to that were still operating for today. The guest was still
disappointed with the closure, but was more understanding
and satisfied and gave their thanks. The guest no longer
wanted to speak with the supervisor and decided to try the
other rides and attractions. I called back the supervisor to
give them an update of the guest and that the issue was
resolved.

4. Star Story #4 (Centennial College)
Skill Obtained = TeamWork Skills
When we must perform group assignments for
our courses at Centennial College , team work
skills are required in order to successfully
complete the assignment and achieve a high
mark. Sometimes your group reside of group
members who do not do any work, who do not do
the work properly, who are unable to be present
for group meetings and/or purposely choose not
to be present for any group meetings because of
an unacceptable reason such as laziness or
irresponsibility . It is terrible to be grouped with
such members, but it is worse to be that sort of
group member. I demonstrate team work skills by
attending group meetings and completing a
emend version of the task I am accountable for.
My teamwork skills can be proven through my
marks and past group members as a source of
reference.

5. Star Story #5 (Rawlinson Instructor
Assistant)
Skill Obtained = Organizational Skills
As an instructor assistant I was responsible
to perpetuate organization. The students
are the ages of nine and ten years of age.
The students were full of energy so
maintaining organization was a
challenge, thankfully I was not as old as I
am now back then so it was not so bad. I
was responsible to help the students with
their assignments and ensure the students
were safe during activities.
