2. Effects of Attachment and Parenting
Style on Personality Development in
Infancy
What I found interesting about this topic is that an infant’s attachment and how a parent
responds to and interacts with their child is a huge factor in healthy development, and can
affect children in later years if not formed now.

3. Personal Relevance
 In growing up, I am able to stand back
and see different parenting styles of
my parents and my friend’s parents. I
can see the difference in our
development throughout later years
in how we problem solve, and in how
healthy our relationships are with
family, peers and teachers.

5. Effects of Divorce on Early Childhood
 Divorce is a huge factor on development, and the absence of stability in
the home greatly effects the child both short and long-term.

 Having a family with divorced parents
from a young age, I can relate and I
find it interesting to understand
exactly what I went through in more
psychological terms so that I may
relate it to my cognitive and
emotional abilities.

7. Usefulness in Professional Life
 Wanting to work with adolescence and young adults, I feel it’s a good
thing to know factors such as divorce and their different effects at each
stage of development.

8. Learners with Exceptionalities-
Learning Disabilities
 With the amount of children being diagnosed with learning disabilities, I
believe it is important to understand the reasons behind these disabilities
and what remedies are around to counter them.

9. Personal Relevance
 My sister has been diagnosed with
learning disabilities. In understanding
her learning disabilities, along with
the other factors, I hope to be able to
better relate to her and positively
affect her life.

 With the prevalence of learning disabilities in the schooling system, it is important for
me to understand the nature of learning disabilities if I want to work with children, teens
or young adults.

11. Adolescent Health- Drug, Alcohol,
Depression, and Suicide
 This topic is interesting because of the prevalence of peer pressure and a
need to fit in. The rate of drug and alcohol use in the adolescent stage
seems to be on a downward trend, however, suicide and depression is on a
rise, which is a cause for concern.

12. Personal Relevance
 Substance abuse and
depression run in my family,
as well as having battles
with depression myself. I
feel that this topic hits
pretty close to home, and
knowing the signs, as well
as healthy coping and
prevention methods, is a
very important skill to have.

13. Usefulness in Professional Life
 In wanting to work with children, teens and young adults, I find that knowing proper
information on substance use as well as depression and suicide rates within these age
groups will help me to better prevent, educate and help these age groups.

14. Social Development in Early
Adulthood- Choosing an Occupation
and Developing a Career
 This aspect is very
important for young adults.
Having a well-fitted and
fulfilling occupation
promotes good mental
health and satisfaction in
life.

15. Personal Relevance
 This aspect most certainly pertains to me, since I am a young adult in the middle
of trying to develop a career and find a satisfying fit. In this economy, finding a
career is difficult because of all the choices we have available.

16. Usefulness in Professional Life
 This is the most useful
part of my professional
life at the moment, since
this is the basis and
steps I will be using to
determine a career
choice in the future.
