Program Manager

Location: East Coast



The Measurement Assurance Program Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and
oversight to the identification, implementation and improvement of the Measurement Assurance Program
(MAP) across applicable business units, production sites and measurement labs. This includes
establishing standards, protocol and compliance within and across business units and geographies. This
position will work closely with each Business Unit lighting measurement team to oversee the internal and
external qualification of new labs and test methods.

Responsibilities:

        Champion MAP implementation and liaison across business units, production sites and
        measurement labs.
        Provide oversight and accreditation to applicable industry standards.
        Seek out and identify areas where Solid State Lighting (SSL) measurement control and
        quantification of uncertainty is valuable and/or required.
        Continually develop and improve MAP.
        Establish SSL measurement standards and protocol.
        Establish and document alignment with recognized external agencies (e.g. NIST and global
        equivalents; Europe, Asia).
        Develop formal documentation of the MAP for internal and external customers.
        Develop and provide MAP training across sites and business units.
        Work closely with Production, R&D, Quality Departments and Applications to develop consensus
        of the appropriate use of MAP.
        Work internationally to develop MAP plans that are sensitive to each site’s capability and culture.
        Develop relationship with global Marketing and Applications groups for communicating
        Company’s position as a leader in Optical Metrology to external customers.

Requirements:

        BS in Engineering.
        Proven communication skills (written and oral).
        Statistical Analysis skills (ANOVA, MSA, Measurement Uncertainty, Propagation of Error, DOE).
        3+ years LED photometric measurement experience.
        2+ years’ experience with LED/SSL measurement system calibrations.
        Working knowledge of measurement and lighting industry standards.
        Ability to work well in a global organization.
        Capable of gaining consensus across a wide variety of stakeholders.




Research Scientist, Epitaxial Growth

Location: East Coast

Client Company currently has an opening for a Research Scientist, Epitaxial Growth within theirLED’s
Epi R&D group.

Summary:

This position is responsible for development and improvement of Epitaxial processes for III-N LED
products. The successful candidate will be a resourceful, hands-on, problem solver with the capacity to
quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical problems while managing one or more development
efforts. The person should thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

        Work with a team of Scientists, Engineers and Technicians to develop, improve and integrate
        new epitaxial growth processes for III-V, Nitride-based LED products.
        Take ownership of MOCVD reactors and processes including scheduling, data analysis, layer
        characterization, directing equipment maintenance, and experimental design.
        Lead process-improvement and new-product-introduction projects and coordinate process
        transfers to production teams including complete product qualification.
        Support the development ofnext generation LED chip technologies for solid state lighting
        applications.

Minimum Requirements:

        PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or other degree.
        This position is open to candidates with no semiconductor growth experience but who have
        demonstrated semiconductor processing ability. New or recent graduates are encouraged to
        apply.
        Strong written and oral communications skills. Able to summarize data and communicate
        findings quickly to support a 24x7 R&D operation.
        Desire to work in a 24x7 manufacturing environment with strong development focus.
        Passion to “do whatever it takes” to make things happen.

Preferred Requirements:

        Semiconductor wafer fabrication experience (industrial or academic environments).
        0-5 years’ experience in the semiconductor industry in a manufacturing or R&D capacity.
        Experience with databases and data analysis tools (SQL, Access, JMP, Excel, etc.).
        Relevant work experience, such as III-V epitaxial layer growth or III-V LED experience (preferred,
        not required).
Process Engineer, Epitaxial Growth

Location: East Coast



Client Company currently has the need for a Process Engineer to support their Epitaxial growth team. In
this role you would be part of a team that is responsible for the MOCVD epitaxial growth for III-Nitride
based LED products..

Shift: 2nd Shift + 1 Weekend Day (2PM-11PM Tues- Sat or Sun-Thurs)

Summary:

Client is seeking a resourceful, hands-on, problem solving Process Development Engineer with the
capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical challenges. The ideal candidate will thrive
in a fast paced, deadline-oriented atmosphere and be capable and willing to work in a team of scientists,
engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities:

        24x7 MOCVD reactor & process ownership.
        Set-up, scheduling, and evaluation of LED production runs.
        Data driven process decision making based on timely and thorough data analysis.
        Process improvement through designed experimentation.
        Yield improvement through identification and elimination of yield limiters.
        Mentoring, coaching, and training of process technicians.

Minimum Requirements:

        BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.
        Willingness to work on second shift (2PM-12AM) and weekend rotations.
        Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
        Must have a “Whatever it takes” attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

        MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.
        Undergrad GPA of 3.3 or better, graduate GPA of 3.5 or better.
        Thin film deposition or MOCVD experience.
        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
        Knowledge of SPC and experimental design.




Wafer Fab Scientist
Location: East Coast

Company currently has an opening for a Research Scientist within our LED Chips group.

Summary:


In this position you will be responsible for development and improvement of wafer-fab processes for III-
V Nitride based LED products. In order to be successful in this role you should be a resourceful, hands-
on, problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical problems
while managing one or more development efforts.

You will work with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to develop next generation LED chip
technologies for solid state lighting applications and coordinate transfers of these products to
production. You will drive tool selection and process validation for a variety of semiconductor
fabrication technologies including but not limited to photolithography, metallization, etch, dielectric
deposition, and wafer thinning.

In this role you will support new product design and development activities in the wafer fab. You will
have the opportunity to lead process improvement projects and coordinate process transfers to
production teams, including producing procedures and work instructions suitable for the intended users
that may include technicians and operators.

Requirements:

           PhD Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
            Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or Physical Science.
           US Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card holder).
           Semiconductor front-end fabrication industrial experience in at least two of the following
            areas: RF/ICP Etch, PECVD, sputtered metal or oxide deposition, wafer thinning, or
            photolithography.
           Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing (Process and
            Equipment Specifications and Work Instructions).
           Hands-on experience with single-wafer or batch fab tools.
           Self-starter with strong personal work ethic.
           Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to identify manufacturing
            improvements, manage change, and implement solutions.
           Able and willing to support 24X7 projects.

Preferences:

           3+years of semiconductor wafer fabrication experience in a research or development group.
           Experience with new equipment selections, including qualification, installation and
            transfers.
           Compound semiconductor processing experience, particularly optoelectronic materials.
   Strong working knowledge of SPC and DOE principles and methods.
           Experience with databases and data analysis tools (SQL, Access, JMP, Excel, etc.).




Process Engineer, Wafer Fab

Location: East Coast

Company currently has an opening for a Process Development Engineer within our LED’s Wafer Fab
R&Dgroup.


Summary:


In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop, design and fabricate LED chips for customers.
You will be involved in process development on new equipment platforms and improvement of existing
processes. Successful candidates will be self-motivated, hands-on, resourceful problem-solvers with the
capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical issues through the implementation of
practical solutions to complicated problems.

You will transfer new processes and equipment into high volume manufacturing sites. You also get to
work with the industry leaders to develop photolithography, metal and dielectric deposition, wet and dry
etching, electrical testing and novel LED processes.

Requirements:

           BS or MS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied
            Physics or other relevant Physical Science major.
           Ability to work with minimal guidance.
           Strong problem solving abilities.
           Willing to work outside the scope of normal job duties and past experience.
           Willing to work 2nd Shift + One Weekend Day.

Preferences:

           3+ years wafer fab process engineering experience in a high-volume semiconductor
            environment.
           Experience with or the ability to learn and perform as necessary all tasks related to LED
            processing, including: dry and wet etching, metal and dielectric deposition, photolithography,
            mask layout and design, electrical and optical device characterization, wafer thinning, wafer
            bonding.
           Strong working knowledge of SPC and DOE principles and methods.
           Familiarity with Access and JMP.
           Optoelectronic device experience.
Mechanical Engineer

Location: California



The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a dynamic, highly individual contributor who will take on mechanical,
optical, and thermal design of complex lighting products. In this position, you will interface with vendors
and cross-functional teams to evaluate and implement designs, materials, and manufacturing for new
product developments and continuous improvement of existing products. You will work closely with
design, quality, reliability, compliance, product, and marketing engineers in a core team environment to
create cutting-edge products and ensure reliability and compliance with industry standards.


Responsibilities:


    Design and develop mechanical systems and solutions for LED based lamps.
    Complete 3-D CAD design.
    Generate engineering documentation such as design reports, BOM's, fabrication and assembly
    drawings, assembly and test procedures, qualification reports, etc..
    Ensure all products comply with regulatory requirements such as UL, CE, and EMC standards.
    Work creatively, efficiently, and quickly with cross functional teams, external vendors, applications,
    marketing and manufacturing groups.
    Prototype assembly and testing for new products, design improvements, and tools/fixtures.
    Provide weekly status on engineering schedule, progress and issues.
    Work to resolve and provide timely information to affected parties of any slippage in schedule.
    Actively contribute to engineering processes, tools, and infrastructure.

Requirements:


    Expert user of SolidWorks.
    Experience with tightly packaged electronics with extreme thermal and mechanical constraints.
    Experience with the unique challenges of high-volume product design.
    Experience with completion of a full cycle of product development from concept to mass
    production.
    Thermal and/or optical design experience a plus.
    Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
    Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams including engineering, sales,
    quality, finance and operations.
    BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 5 years relevant working experience.
Enthusiastic, self-motivated, proactive, entrepreneurial and highly innovative, can-do attitude,
    resourceful problem solver, comfortable in a fast-moving and highly dynamic environment.
    Experience with Agile, Arena, or equivalent PLM software.




Materials Scientist

Location: California



          Evaluate performance and interactions of packaging materials in novel high
          power LEDs.
          Develop experiments to determine root cause materials interactions as they
          relate to performance and reliability of LED devices.
          Develop custom tools to measure specific materials parameters to guide
          development directions with vendors.
          Establish strong working relationships with materials vendors to optimize organic
          and inorganic packaging materials to achieve company performance and
          reliability goals.
          Present Experimental results and suggest material improvement paths for
          improved efficiency and reliability for products.




Experience:

          MS Engineering Degree; Chemical Engineering or Materials Science preferred
          but will strongly consider all qualified applicants.
          Minimum of 3 years of experience with concentrations in any of the following
          areas:
                         Organic/Inorganic materials handling and characterization.
                         Luminescent materials characterization.
                         Electrical, optical and thermal characterization of semiconductor
                            devices.
          Experience in optical Characterization of Materials. Familiarity with optical fibers,
          integrating spheres, detector technologies (ccd, PMT, PD etc), Light sources
          (LEDs, Lasers and monochromater based lamps).
          Experience with safe use and operation of high intensity light sources, LEDs,
          Lamps and Lasers.
          Experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and Project), general
          computer expertise.

Skills:

          Strong hands-on ability to ensure proper experimental build, test and report for
          Luminescent Materials Lab.
          Conceptual sketching or visual communication skills.
          Hands on experience with creating prototypes for experimentation and testing.
Design for Reliability Engineer

Location: California



Client Company designs world-class LED lighting systems and we need to test everything about the
systems to verify our designs. We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual who is intelligent,
committed and high energy.

The engineer will handle critical design for reliability activities for key components and systems during
the product design and development stages. The candidate should fit in well with the team, be result
oriented and have good communication skills. It is expected the candidates be hands-on in reliability
testing, conduct design-for-reliability analysis, and familiar with life data analysis procedures and tools.
Product life cycle analysis is preferred.



Responsibilities:



        Design-for-reliability analysis during product design and development states.
        Conduct design-for-reliability testing for electronics and LED systems.
        Physics-of-failure approach for testing plan and data analysis.
        Failure rate prediction and life time analysis for components and systems.
        Conduct statistical data analysis and prepare reports.
        Design and conduct accelerated stress testing and prepare reports.
        Be able to perform hands-on work if necessary, i.e. test setup, fixture assembly, soldering, epoxy
        curing and wiring etc.


It is preferred that the candidate will have a graduate degree with related experiences in electronics
components, component selection and qualification, electronic systems and product system reliability
prediction. Experience with Physics-of-failure techniques and industry standards such as IEEE 1413, Mil-
HDB-217F and Telcordia standards will be a plus.



Wafer Fab Planner

Location: California
Plan, schedule and track the wafer fab.
        Work with manufacturing and engineering to balance the line, manage bottlenecks and
        prioritize WIP.
        Develop factory build plans to support demand and factory loading.
        Create and mage the wafer fab capacity model.
        Coordinate with procurement to prioritize materials to support the build plan.
        Review material availability and execute the starts processes.
        Work with the CM planner to coordinate and prioritize die shipments to our contract
        manufacturer.
        Track loading against capacity/planned starts and outs versus planned outs for the fab.
        Maintain and update lead times and yields in the planning systems.
        Work with the master planner to establish die bin inventory levels to support the production
        plan.
        Data maintenance: Scrutinize data to catch and correct errors and omissions.


Qualifications:



        Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field.
        Strong analytical skills and detail oriented.
        Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
        English proficiency required.
        Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
        Assertive, collaborative and results oriented.
        Strong MRP and MES understanding.
        Experience in the semiconductor industry is preferred.
        Ability to influence and work cross-functionally with multiple internal partners.
        Experienced in using MS Excel and mining data.
        APICS CPIM certification preferred.

Program Manager Location: East Coast The Measurement Assurance Program Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the identification, implementation and improvement of the Measurement Assurance Program (MAP) across applicable business units, production sites and measurement labs. This includes establishing standards, protocol and compliance within and across business units and geographies. This position will work closely with each Business Unit lighting measurement team to oversee the internal and external qualification of new labs and test methods. Responsibilities: Champion MAP implementation and liaison across business units, production sites and measurement labs. Provide oversight and accreditation to applicable industry standards. Seek out and identify areas where Solid State Lighting (SSL) measurement control and quantification of uncertainty is valuable and/or required. Continually develop and improve MAP. Establish SSL measurement standards and protocol. Establish and document alignment with recognized external agencies (e.g. NIST and global equivalents; Europe, Asia). Develop formal documentation of the MAP for internal and external customers. Develop and provide MAP training across sites and business units. Work closely with Production, R&D, Quality Departments and Applications to develop consensus of the appropriate use of MAP. Work internationally to develop MAP plans that are sensitive to each site’s capability and culture. Develop relationship with global Marketing and Applications groups for communicating Company’s position as a leader in Optical Metrology to external customers. Requirements: BS in Engineering. Proven communication skills (written and oral). Statistical Analysis skills (ANOVA, MSA, Measurement Uncertainty, Propagation of Error, DOE). 3+ years LED photometric measurement experience. 2+ years’ experience with LED/SSL measurement system calibrations. The successful candidate will be a resourceful, hands-on, problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical problems while managing one or more development efforts. The person should thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented atmosphere. Responsibilities: Work with a team of Scientists, Engineers and Technicians to develop, improve and integrate new epitaxial growth processes for III-V, Nitride-based LED products. Take ownership of MOCVD reactors and processes including scheduling, data analysis, layer characterization, directing equipment maintenance, and experimental design. Lead process-improvement and new-product-introduction projects and coordinate process transfers to production teams including complete product qualification. Support the development ofnext generation LED chip technologies for solid state lighting applications. Minimum Requirements: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or other degree.   • 3. Process Engineer, Epitaxial Growth Location: East Coast Client Company currently has the need for a Process Engineer to support their Epitaxial growth team. In this role you would be part of a team that is responsible for the MOCVD epitaxial growth for III-Nitride based LED products.. Shift: 2nd Shift + 1 Weekend Day (2PM-11PM Tues- Sat or Sun-Thurs) Summary: Client is seeking a resourceful, hands-on, problem solving Process Development Engineer with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical challenges. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast paced, deadline-oriented atmosphere and be capable and willing to work in a team of scientists, engineers and technicians. Responsibilities: 24x7 MOCVD reactor & process ownership. Set-up, scheduling, and evaluation of LED production runs. Data driven process decision making based on timely and thorough data analysis. Process improvement through designed experimentation. Yield improvement through identification and elimination of yield limiters. Mentoring, coaching, and training of process technicians. Minimum Requirements: BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering. Willingness to work on second shift (2PM-12AM) and weekend rotations. Summary: In this position you will be responsible for development and improvement of wafer-fab processes for III- V Nitride based LED products. In order to be successful in this role you should be a resourceful, hands- on, problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical problems while managing one or more development efforts. You will work with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to develop next generation LED chip technologies for solid state lighting applications and coordinate transfers of these products to production. You will drive tool selection and process validation for a variety of semiconductor fabrication technologies including but not limited to photolithography, metallization, etch, dielectric deposition, and wafer thinning. In this role you will support new product design and development activities in the wafer fab. You will have the opportunity to lead process improvement projects and coordinate process transfers to production teams, including producing procedures and work instructions suitable for the intended users that may include technicians and operators. Requirements:  PhD Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or Physical Science.  US Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card holder).  Semiconductor front-end fabrication industrial experience in at least two of the following areas: RF/ICP Etch, PECVD, sputtered metal or oxide deposition, wafer thinning, or photolithography.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing (Process and Equipment Specifications and Work Instructions).  Hands-on experience with single-wafer or batch fab tools.  Self-starter with strong personal work ethic.  Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to identify manufacturing improvements, manage change, and implement solutions.  Able and willing to support 24X7 projects. Summary: In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop, design and fabricate LED chips for customers. You will be involved in process development on new equipment platforms and improvement of existing processes. Successful candidates will be self-motivated, hands-on, resourceful problem-solvers with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical issues through the implementation of practical solutions to complicated problems. You will transfer new processes and equipment into high volume manufacturing sites. You also get to work with the industry leaders to develop photolithography, metal and dielectric deposition, wet and dry etching, electrical testing and novel LED processes. Mechanical Engineer Location: California The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a dynamic, highly individual contributor who will take on mechanical, optical, and thermal design of complex lighting products. In this position, you will interface with vendors and cross-functional teams to evaluate and implement designs, materials, and manufacturing for new product developments and continuous improvement of existing products. You will work closely with design, quality, reliability, compliance, product, and marketing engineers in a core team environment to create cutting-edge products and ensure reliability and compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical systems and solutions for LED based lamps. Complete 3-D CAD design. Generate engineering documentation such as design reports, BOM's, fabrication and assembly drawings, assembly and test procedures, qualification reports, etc.. Ensure all products comply with regulatory requirements such as UL, CE, and EMC standards. Work creatively, efficiently, and quickly with cross functional teams, external vendors, applications, marketing and manufacturing groups. Prototype assembly and testing for new products, design improvements, and tools/fixtures. Provide weekly status on engineering schedule, progress and issues. Work to resolve and provide timely information to affected parties of any slippage in schedule. Actively contribute to engineering processes, tools, and infrastructure. Requirements: Expert user of SolidWorks. Experience with tightly packaged electronics with extreme thermal and mechanical constraints. Experience with the unique challenges of high-volume product design. Experience with completion of a full cycle of product development from concept to mass production. Thermal and/or optical design experience a plus. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams including engineering, sales, quality, finance and operations. BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 5 years relevant working experience.

Experience with Agile, Arena, or equivalent PLM software. Materials Scientist Location: California Evaluate performance and interactions of packaging materials in novel high power LEDs. Develop experiments to determine root cause materials interactions as they relate to performance and reliability of LED devices. Develop custom tools to measure specific materials parameters to guide development directions with vendors. Establish strong working relationships with materials vendors to optimize organic and inorganic packaging materials to achieve company performance and reliability goals. Present Experimental results and suggest material improvement paths for improved efficiency and reliability for products. Experience: MS Engineering Degree; Chemical Engineering or Materials Science preferred but will strongly consider all qualified applicants. Minimum of 3 years of experience with concentrations in any of the following areas:  Organic/Inorganic materials handling and characterization.  Luminescent materials characterization.  Electrical, optical and thermal characterization of semiconductor devices. Experience in optical Characterization of Materials. Familiarity with optical fibers, integrating spheres, detector technologies (ccd, PMT, PD etc), Light sources (LEDs, Lasers and monochromater based lamps). Experience with safe use and operation of high intensity light sources, LEDs, Lamps and Lasers. Experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and Project), general computer expertise. Skills: Strong hands-on ability to ensure proper experimental build, test and report for Luminescent Materials Lab. Conceptual sketching or visual communication skills. Hands on experience with creating prototypes for experimentation and testing.
  • 8. Design for Reliability Engineer Location: California Client Company designs world-class LED lighting systems and we need to test everything about the systems to verify our designs. We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual who is intelligent, committed and high energy. The engineer will handle critical design for reliability activities for key components and systems during the product design and development stages. The candidate should fit in well with the team, be result oriented and have good communication skills. It is expected the candidates be hands-on in reliability testing, conduct design-for-reliability analysis, and familiar with life data analysis procedures and tools. Product life cycle analysis is preferred. Responsibilities: Design-for-reliability analysis during product design and development states. Conduct design-for-reliability testing for electronics and LED systems. Physics-of-failure approach for testing plan and data analysis. Failure rate prediction and life time analysis for components and systems. Conduct statistical data analysis and prepare reports. Design and conduct accelerated stress testing and prepare reports. Be able to perform hands-on work if necessary, i.e. test setup, fixture assembly, soldering, epoxy curing and wiring etc. It is preferred that the candidate will have a graduate degree with related experiences in electronics components, component selection and qualification, electronic systems and product system reliability prediction. Experience with Physics-of-failure techniques and industry standards such as IEEE 1413, Mil- HDB-217F and Telcordia standards will be a plus. Wafer Fab Planner Location: California
  • 9. Plan, schedule and track the wafer fab. Work with manufacturing and engineering to balance the line, manage bottlenecks and prioritize WIP. Develop factory build plans to support demand and factory loading. Create and mage the wafer fab capacity model. Coordinate with procurement to prioritize materials to support the build plan. Review material availability and execute the starts processes. Work with the CM planner to coordinate and prioritize die shipments to our contract manufacturer. Track loading against capacity/planned starts and outs versus planned outs for the fab. Maintain and update lead times and yields in the planning systems. Work with the master planner to establish die bin inventory levels to support the production plan. Data maintenance: Scrutinize data to catch and correct errors and omissions. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field. Strong analytical skills and detail oriented. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. English proficiency required. Demonstrated planning and organizational skills. Assertive, collaborative and results oriented. Strong MRP and MES understanding.
