It's always been a dilemma -- do you invest in servers, licenses and people to set up and maintain a fully controllable SharePoint infrastructure in-house, or is it time to explore hosting SharePoint off-premise? Legal IT professionals have been struggling with this decision for years.
The on-premise option offers peace of mind from a security and controllability standpoint, but comes saddled with high costs, a demand for resources and limited scalability. SharePoint Online, on the other hand, alleviates the burden associated with SharePoint on-premise by removing the need for servers, software licenses and personnel, and can be rolled out to a large pool of people virtually overnight. However, you'll still need support for integration projects. Join us as we discuss the pros and cons of each option and give you recommendations based on our experiences, deployments and feedback.

SharePoint Online vs On-premises vs Hybrid – 2016 editionRene Modery
With SharePoint 2013, Microsoft added hybrid capabilities, allowing organizations to connect their existing on-premises environments to Office 365. SharePoint 2016 expands these capabilities a bit. But in which scenarios is this helpful? How much has changed in the past few years? When does a hybrid scenario make sense, and what are its limitations?
SharePoint Migration - To Be Or Not To Be ‘In The Cloud’ Adam Levithan
With Microsoft's release of SharePoint 2013 and Office 365, organizations are still unsure which direction to turn when faced with a migration decision. Is the cloud the right fit for my organization? Is traditional, on-premise the best bet? How about the hybrid approach?
The fervor that existed in organizations to migrate quickly from SharePoint 2003 to 2007, and 2007 to 2010 has not been repeated for SharePoint 2013. While there are significant technological and user-focused advances in SharePoint 2013, it has faced rapid changes in the expectations of organizations to implement digital workplaces that its predecessors did not experience. These changes include the confusion and competition between Office 365, Yammer and other systems being introduced as options, even when hosting options have already been chosen.
Join us as we discuss the pros and cons of SharePoint in the cloud, on-premise and hybrid. This webinar will help you better understand the available options and how they fit in creating a real-time, digital workplace within your organization.
•The benefits of each migration option, Office 365, on-premise and hybrid
•Top reasons for moving to the cloud
•The cost of migration alternatives (on-Premise, Hosted, Office 365)

Are you looking for a better strategy to retire your legacy Lotus Notes applications and migrate them seamlessly to the cloud?
Office 365 & Azure brings best of both the worlds together to simplify and enhance the cloud experience. Office 365 with Azure allows more flexibility and greater business agility. It helps leveraging familiar tools for simple deployment, and user experiences as well as a leaner, controlled model for enterprises. Migration of legacy applications to the cloud gets you and your enterprise out of the business of hosting, supporting and maintaining the applications on your infrastructure.
Aqeel Haider, Vice President of Technology Solutions, WinWire Technologies shares an in-depth view of WinWire’s capabilities to retire and re-platform legacy Lotus applications to Office 365 & Azure.
Webinar Agenda:
An overview of WinWire’s approach in performing an assessment of legacy Lotus Notes applications
How to classify multiple Lotus Notes applications and our methodology around archiving, replacing, or consolidation of such applications
From Our Experience – Lessons Learnt
Optimizing your new application in the cloud
Integration is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Connecting two or more end points between applications is a straightforward goal, but how to get there is very different from one company to another. Further, PLM integrations have complex data sets that require analysis before establishing connection points. Not every piece of data may be needed to support the business need of the integration. This webinar will explore the three different approaches that are recommended to support PLM integrations.
In this webinar attendees will learn:
Three approaches to integration
- Pros and cons of each
- Overview of commercial integration tools
- Introduction to CLOVER, Razorleaf’s integration platform and demonstration
This webinar was held on 4/25/17 and presented by Derek Nieding of Razorleaf.

Cloud PBX is the future—definitely a conversation worth listening to help you shape some of your PBX goals going forward.
Have you heard of Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) yet? It may be viewed as a simple equation, IPA = BPA (Business Process Automation) + RPA (Robotics Process Automation) .
BPA represents the long standing traditional way of automating processes over the years using technology to streamline activities and tasks and RPA being the emerging technology that seeks to employ Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to extract repetitive and mundane handled by human actors to that of ro-“bots” who’s job it is to improve efficiencies and reduce potential errors and omissions.
In this webinar, we show you various cross sections of approaches especially around the Microsoft Stack and Independent Software Vendors (ISV’s) like K2, on how you can achieve rapid success within your organization with a combination of what you may already own and what you can easily acquire to take your work processes to the next level.
See some of the integration offerings for Autodesk Vault to Autodesk PLM 360 using Jitterbit. There are different ways to integrate these products depending on how your organization currently uses or plans to use Autodesk Vault. Autodesk Vault along with PLM 360 are robust tools for data and product lifecycle management. They offer a company different tools and process workflows to deal with their design and manufacturing data. Often times Autodesk Vault is serving an organization by assisting with things like data management, engineering BOM management, and perhaps change orders that affect engineering, drafters, and designers. PLM 360 on the other hand may be managing the entire product BOM, complete Change Management cycle, along with other important data related to the product design process. These things could include items & BOMs, suppliers, vendors, change management, approvals, etc. In PLM 360 there may even be ties into quality management, customer management, or other applications. Integration is key to tie the design critical information stored by engineering in PDM to the downstream processes that flow through the rest of the organization. Integration reduces time and mistakes that commonly take place when systems are isolated and managing redundant pieces of information.

Practical tips for migrating SharePoint Customizations to Office 365Haniel Croitoru
When planning a migration of SharePoint on-premises environment to Office 365, the first thing that comes to mind is organizations often focus mainly on their content - all the documents and items stored across their libraries and lists. Of course, why wouldn't they? It's the reason that they started using SharePoint anyways. But in many cases, the SharePoint environment that has been well adopted and his highly use will include some level of customizations to help meet specific business needs. These may include forms and workflows, scheduled timer jobs, custom look and feel, business logic to interface with other line of business solutions, to name a few.
Join me as we take a look at ways to create a SharePoint Online environment that will provide a similar experience for your users. We will look are various technologies, including CSOM Scripting, Microsoft Flow, PowerApps, Forms, LogicApps, and Azure Functions.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

management information in the cloud
Explain to the students what is expected from this module, which is an overview of cloud computing. It will cover basic cloud computing concepts, as well as introduce a general overview of the offerings found in Office 365. Due to the general nature of an overview module, note that each product covered here will be gone over in more detail in later modules.
Simplify the definition of what cloud computing is by explain how it would typically be implemented in a business setting. Briefly review the topics to be discussed in this lesson.
Highlight the differences between a public and private cloud. Use examples of how and why an organization would use either. Only touch on a hybrid solution at this point, as hybrid will be covered in a later module.
Discuss problem solving with cloud computing for IT decision makers (CIO, for example). Use the drivers and challenges that are outlined on the slide and discussed in the referenced white paper found at the link.
Again, the students should already know most of this information. Do not labor the point; just make sure that they all have a common understanding of the services in Office 365.

Call out the various optional subscriptions for Office 365 and highlight that Project is a more fully-featured service than Visio, which is still a desktop application. Students should know that with Project Online, large global organizations can perform portfolio planning, involving multiple projects simultaneously in a number of time zones. Emphasize that this course does not touch any further on Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
