- SkyTeam announced it will be the official alliance of the 2007 Paris Air Show, after signing International Paris Air Show Le Bourget as the first SkyTeam Global Meetings customer.
- Nine SkyTeam carriers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with British Airport Authority (BAA) to co-locate their facilities in Terminal 4 at London Heathrow International Airport (LHR), providing easier connections and more convenience to the nearly 3.5 million SkyTeam passengers who travel through LHR each year.
China Southern Airlines
 Effects:
- The agreement was a formal step in the alliance’s new member process and indicated that the Chinese carrier was on track for official alliance membership.

Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport (GRU)

SkyTeam signed agreements with Air Europa, Copa Airlines and Kenya Airways

The agreements are a formal step in the alliance's Associate process and outline the carriers' commitment to meet the standards to be recognized as official Associate Airlines.

SkyTeam named Leo van Wijk as its first chairman of the alliance. The announcement was made during SkyTeam's Governing Board meeting in Vancouver.
September
SkyTeam announced the first three members of its Associate Program, Air Europa, Copa Airlines and Kenya Airways. Passengers traveling with the three carriers now receive full SkyTeam benefits, including earning and redeeming miles on flights and airport lounge access.

China Southern Airlines became the 11th full member of SkyTeam

SkyTeam opens its first ever co-branded SkyTeam Exclusive lounge in Terminal 4 at London’sHeathrow Airport
 Effects:
- The two-level lounge occupiesmore than 1,600 square meters and offers space for more than 300 passengers.
- The SkyTeam lounge offers customers a place to work, relax, dine or catch up on reading.
- Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access is available throughout the facility and customers can take advantage of dedicated business areas.
The premium lounge was designed to offer customers a superior experience that meets their individual needs.

- SkyTeam picked up the 2009 "Best Airline Alliance" Global Traveler Award for the fifth consecutive year.

- SkyTeam was prominently present at the ITB Berlin.
- China Southern Airlines announced its plans to join SkyTeam Cargo. With full membership in SkyTeam Cargo expected before November this year, China Southern Airlines will become the first Chinese carrier to join a global air cargo alliance.

China Eastern Airlines announced its intention to join the SkyTeam Airline Alliance in 2011.
 Effects:
- SkyTeam customers worldwide will benefit from greater access to China and Asia Pacific. Current SkyTeam member China Southern already covers China through its hubs in Guangzhou and Beijing. Together with China Eastern and its hub in Shanghai, SkyTeam will be able to offer services out of the three major Chinese markets. China Eastern will bring 25 unique new destinations that will enrich SkyTeam's current network.

Vietnam Airlines and TAROM Romanian Air Transport officially joined the SkyTeam Airline Alliance.
 Effects:
SkyTeam has grown to an alliance thirteen members, now offering its 384 million annual passengers a worldwide system of approximately 13,000 daily flights covering 898 destinations in 169 countries.

China Airlines, the flag carrier of Taiwan, formally announced the start of its joining process leading to full entry into the SkyTeam Airline Alliance.
 Effects:
- SkyTeam customers will benefit from further improved access to SkyTeam's extensive Asia Pacific network.
Shanghai Airlines announced it will become part of SkyTeam, (scheduled to join SkyTeam in mid-2011)
 Effects:
Increase the SkyTeam presence in the region as their combined networks add up to that of Guangzhou-based member China Southern. Including China Airlines from Taipei, these four members will cement SkyTeam's No. 1 position in the Greater China region.
Garuda Indonesia, the flag carrier of Indonesia, signed an agreement to join SkyTeam in 2012.
 Effects:
- Garuda has a broad Indonesian and regional network and is able to offer additional coverage and improved connections to the Asia Pacific.
Garuda's consideration to expand its intercontinental network to Frankfurt,

Paris, London and Rome will make the airline an increasingly attractive option for business and leisure travelers. Garuda Indonesia was named the 'World's Most Improved Airline' at the Skytrax 2010 World Airline Awards.
Aerolíneas Argentinas, the flag carrier of Argentina, signed an agreement to join SkyTeam in 2012.
 Effects:
- Aerolíneas will be SkyTeam's first South American member. SkyTeam is actively working to strengthen its presence in Latin America, a region with strong growth figures and a positive outlook for the future.
- The extensive domestic and regional service of Aerolíneas Argentinas brings 38 new destinations to the SkyTeam network, including Córdoba, Mendoza, Asunción and Montevideo.
With Buenos Aires serving as a Latin American hub with flights to and from key destinations in the region, SkyTeam customers will benefit from improved access to the southern part of South America and Patagonia in particular, popular destinations with travelers from all over the world.
2011
January
Saudia from Saudi Arabia, signed an agreement to join SkyTeam in 2012
 SkyTeam’s first member from the Middle East
 Effects:
- Access to destinations across the Middle East not currently served by SkyTeam members
- Through Saudi Arabia’s major hubs, travelers can connect to new destinations on the Arabian Peninsula, the Indian subcontinent and Northern Africa, including 26 domestic destinations and international routes such as Alexandria, Aden and Islamabad.
- Access to Saudia’s customers who fly to Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA by providing transfer-hubs such as Paris, Rome, Nairobi and New York.

Middle East Airlines – Air Liban (MEA), of Lebanon signed an agreement to join SkyTeam in 2012
 2nd member from Middle East
 Effects:
- SkyTeam will be able to compete more efficiently to and from Western Africa.
- In return, MEA customers will be able to connect to the world through traffic flows from the SkyTeam hubs in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.

- SkyTeam appointed Michael Wisbrun as its new Managing Director and Mr. Su Liang as deputy Managing Director. They are responsible for implementing the future strategic plan:
- expand the SkyTeam network and enrich the alliance proposition with new customer-centered products and service
- reaffirm SkyTeam's growing presence in the region and help in solidifying SkyTeam's #1 position in the greater China region

China Eastern officially joined SkyTeam.
 Effects:

Requirements to become a member of Skyteam
Airline member requirements In order to become an official member of SkyTeam, aspiring members need to meet strict safety, quality, IT and customer service standards, such as:
• IOSA registration
• Lounge access
• Elite recognition.
Teams of expert auditors from member airlines perform audits, checking in detail whether the membership requirements are fulfilled before an airline can join SkyTeam.
IV. Vision and strategy of Skyteam alliance 1. Vision of Skyteam alliance - With Skyteam, the mission is to inspire people to fly away, for each journey in every life. Although Skyteam is undoubtedly an airline with a rich tradition, they chose not to make this distinctive element. They believe in modern information, elegance and tranquility. 2. Strategy of Skyteam alliance
- Creating efficiency and seamlessness With more than 30 million passengers transferring among the members annually, closer cooperation between airlines and airports has been developed under the SkyTransfer initiative. Focus is on improving customer transfers from one member to another by developing new efficiencies, as well as transfer and service recovery standards, starting with SkyTeam's largest hubs.
- Improved customer service SkyTeam launched its flagship customer-focused initiative, SkyPriority, in March 2012. Offering a series of premium airport services for Elite Plus, First and Business Class customers, SkyPriority has now been implemented throughout 75% of SkyTeam's global network and will be available at each of SkyTeam's 1,000 global destinations by the end of 2013. In addition, the program is being extended to include, amongst others, more dedicated security lanes, and dedicated SkyPriority call centres to provide essential

support to high value customers. Other additions include dedicated SkyPriority baggage desks at arrival halls.
- Delivering synergies With its global network almost complete, SkyTeam is working to fast-track initiatives that augment benefits offered to members. These include SkyPort, which is focused on increasing co-location of airport facilities to ease the customer experience while reducing costs. SkyTeam will open 3 more co-branded lounges with Istanbul being opened; Sydney before the end of 2013 and Beijing in early 2014. The new lounges will reduce combined costs by approximately 10% at these airports.
To get the most out of travelling with SkyTeam, travel products have been developed and upgraded to meet customer needs. Booking facilities will be added to the online Round the World planning application before year's end. The recently enhanced Global Meetings product offers more convenience and more attractive pricing, through a new online booking tool for a minimum of 50 delegates featuring a wide range of fare discounts off published fares.
"Every initiative SkyTeam develops has benefits both for its members and most importantly for the customers," continued Wisbrun. "It's not about simply being the biggest in scale, we must evolve and facilitate in the development and implementation of such customer focused initiatives.
