job-specific training for those lacking skills.
 Employers need reliable, responsible workers
who can solve problems and who have the
social skills and attitudes to work together
with other workers and creative thinking.
Employability skills are those basic skills
necessary for getting, keeping, and doing
well on a job.
Employability skills are generic in nature.
Employability skills implies something about
the capacity of the graduate to function in a
job and be able to move between jobs, thus
remaining employable throughout their life.
Skill enhancement provides the opportunity
and knowledge for a client to develop and
strengthen the necessary skills to gain,
maintain, and advance in a chosen area.
Skill enhancement programs are focused
around training that combines the best

 career counseling
 sports and
 technology training
 Assessment

 Parents need to be involved in goal setting
and modeling behavior for in-school youth.
 Teach employability skills using a democratic
approach
 Supervisors, trainers and teachers should set
good examples of the desired behavior.
 When possible, classrooms should replicate
the features of real work setting.
Skill enhancement provides the opportunity
and knowledge for a client to develop and
