2. Definition of Noun
Noun is a word that refers to
 a person,---------- Ex- Nimal or Doctor
 an animal ---------- Ex – Tommy or Dog
a place or ------- Ex - Kandy or School
a thing, ------------- Ex – Mango or Tree
 a quality , ------- Ex – Sorrow , Anger
 an idea or------- Ex – Happiness , Decision
an activity. ------- Ex – Cricket , Karate

3. What nouns do ..?
Noun can serve as a subject or an
object in a sentence.
කිසියම් වාක්‍යයක්‍ ක්‍තෘ හ ෝ ක්‍ර්මය හෙසින් නාමපද භාවිත හ .
 Ex : -
Nimal plays cricket.
Doctor checks patient.
Mango is a fruit.

6. Singular and Plural nouns

7. Singular
Nouns can be singular or plural. When
we are talking about one person,
animal, place, or thing, we use a
singular noun.
නාම පද ඒක්‍ වචන ා බහු වචන වශහයන්
හදහක්‍ොටසකි. තනි පුද්ගෙහයක් ,සහතක්,
ස්ථානයක් හ ෝ හදයක් පිලිබඳ ක්‍ථා කිරීහම්දී
ඒක්‍ වචන නාම පද භාවිත ක්‍රමු.

9. Plural
When we are talking about two or more
people,animals, places, or things, we
use plural nouns.
පුද්ගෙයින් , සතුන් , ස්ථාන හ ෝ හද්වල්
හදක්‍ක් හ ෝ වැඩිහයන් ඇති විට ඒවා පිලිබඳ
ක්‍ථා කිරීහම්දී ඒක්‍ වචන නාම පද භාවිත
ක්‍රමු.

 How to make plural from singular ?
We are going to learn 8 different ways …
1. Add ‘S’ after nouns.( Regular
nouns )
2. Add ‘es’ after nouns.
3. change ‘y’ to ‘i’ and add ‘es’.
4. If a noun ends with “f”.
5. If a noun ends with “o”.
6. Irregular nouns.
7. Same as the singular.
8. Always plural.

12. How to pluralize nouns
1. Add ‘S’ after nouns.
Most nouns are made plural by adding an “s” at the
end.
- Apple = Apples
- Computer = Computers
- Table = Tables
- Desk = Desks
- Book = Books

13. There are some plural nouns that
we can make plural adding only
“s”

14. 2. Add ‘es’ after nouns if it ends with
ch,sh,s,ss,x and some times “o”.
