How It WorksWorkflow Designer creates or modifies a job template by laying out job template components in a sequence and mapping inputs to outputs.Sequence and mapping inputs to outputs. The job templates is saved in the job template library database.A job is created from a job template by: a) an operator supplying job parameters and a schedule, through the administrative interface or b) an external trigger. External triggers include media exchange package submissions and third party applications calling Signiant’s job scheduling APIs.Scheduler monitors system for jobs to run and tells the Supervisor to run a job using a specific job template and job parameters.Supervisor requests and receives the job template from the job template library database and merges this with the job parameters.Supervisor passes relevant job template components and job state information to Agents for execution. In the case of a file transfer components, the supervisor contacts the controlling agent who in turn connects with one or more slave agents to perform the data transfer.Agents report the execution status of each component back to the manage.

  • #26 Before I get started discussing Media Gateways I’d like to explain a few concepts which should help explain how the Media Gateway is positioned and why it is so important. Starting with the top diagram. Signiant’s first product set was really about system to system file movement. Key points: Automated, System to System and Files. The simplest case is dropping files in a directory at one location, accelerating them across the network and placing them in a target director. This we call Drop Box.Looking at middle diagram the next thing Signiant built was an interactive web based person to personpackage movement. More key points: interactive, person to person and packages. Packages are a collection of files. I will explain more in a few minutes. This is our product that looks similar to email and it’s our Media Exchange product. What happens when someone want to initiate in Media Exchange and deliver to a directory – I call that upload to Directory? Or conversely what if a system drops content into a directory and it is sent to Media Exchange user for delivery. I call it push to Media Exchange. It can be done but it requires professional services to build custom workflows linking the 2 systems. What if this could be done by our customers without professional services? See the bottom diagram. This is how Media Gateway was born. Media Gateway allows for Media Exchange end users to easily take advantage of automation.
