This document summarizes the creation of online information literacy tutorials by an academic librarian without much time or technical skills. It describes how they created initial tutorials using PowerPoint, Camtasia, and a flip camera to model research processes for nursing students. A survey of students found that while the tutorials provided useful information, students preferred longer, in-depth videos with more interaction. The librarian is now exploring creating more advanced interactive tutorials using software like Camtasia and Panopto.
This presentation was given at the KSAALT Al Khobar Chapter Mini Conference in December 2015. It aims to give EFL teachers, who know they must embrace technology, but who are reluctant, a starter on how they can use technology in the classroom. The presentation is by no means exhaustive. You may think that you have better tools, in which case feel free to do another presentation, I will watch with interest! Also it does not take into account any software issues that may have developed since it was given. If I have time, I may write a sequel, so . . . . Watch this space!

Kaltura Digital Media Hub Launch - Graham McElearney et. al.telshef
This session sees the launch of the Kaltura Digital Media Hub, a new platform that supports the increasing use of video across learning and teaching, research, public engagement and communications. Hear from academics who have been piloting this new platform to share and create media resources and enable students to submit video assignments.
This presentation was completed by the participants of "Alternative Professional Development" session at the Powering Up With Technology 09 conference in Prince George's County, MD.

Our campus introduced faculty “Bootcamps” as a way to engage faculty in redesigning face-to-face courses for online delivery. Bootcamps were 3-day workshops developed to overcome factors contributing to technology anxiety among faculty, such as time constraints and lack of rewards. I will demonstrate how our approach to Bootcamp can be applied in other faculty development scenarios as provided by the audience. Participants will leave with ideas of how to overcome obstacles to faculty development efforts.

Pick Up The Pace: Creating Quality Rapid E LearningEnspire Learning
Business moves quickly. New products hit the market. New skills are needed. Training programs must keep up with the pace of change. Increasingly, organizations are turning to the tools and processes of rapid e-learning. Slides from Keynote Presentation by Janine Bowes. In this presentation Janine will explore the skills and attributes that an online teacher needs in the 21st century to stay on top of the game. In considering the past two decades of online learning, it is useful to note some underlying principles that are timeless but also to be open to new possibilities.
Using NVivo QSR Theory and Practice for Qualitative Data Analysis in a PhDKEDGE Business School
Session from Salford Business School http://www.salford.ac.uk/business-school doctoral school at the Digital Business Centre. This explain the rationale and some of the basic concepts when it comes to using NVivo QSR for data analysis.
NVivo is a tool for helping to you analyse qualitative data but it does not replace the thinking process - there is a need for you to consider the bigger picture of how NVivo will fit into your research project and this presentation offers some themes you should explore before you commit to the use of NVivo.

Yes/No, 1 – 5 scale or Comment
June 2012Only 46% responded to the survey – not a great number 13 out of a possible 28. Action research, therefore used Convenience sampling
Eighty five per cent of the survey respondents rated the tutorial as very or quite easy to understand and 77% found that the tutorial clearly explained how to explore keywords. Keene et al. (2010) have articulated how difficult it is to learn to identify keywords, so this response is very reassuring in supporting the value of the tutorial. However, fifteen per cent left the question blank. It is unclear whether this is because they were missing out the questions or unwilling to respond to the question negatively. Eight percent found the tutorial a bit unclear. I think this might be related to comment 5 [Figure 7] that the pace of the tutorial may have been a bit too fast. This is a result of my editing skills – something I need to work on in the future.
