Short Film Script - Friday the 13th:



Good         •   The clip will start off with a panning shot of the calendar to show the days he has
Feeling -        crossed off so far. An over the shoulder shot of the protagonist shows him crossing off
                 the 12th of April on the calendar so the audience can tell that it is Friday the 13th. (the
Florida
                 setting could show a bright sunny day to show the connotations of hope for the
playing in
                 protagonist)

             •   Get a point of view shot of him grabbing some money and putting it in his back pocket.
background
             •   Have a long shot of the protagonist running down the stairs grabbing his coat and
                 putting it on outside the door.
             •   Have a wide shot of him walking to the shop and going inside.
             •   Then skip to the setting of inside the shop where the protagonist asks for a millions
                 lottery ticket. Hands the money from his back pocket to the shopkeeper where he
                 receives the ticket. A close up on the ticket will be taken here and an over the shoulder
                 shot will be used when placing the numbers on the ticket until the ticket is put into his
                 back pocket.
             •   Fade in from the shop to where the protagonist sits down in the chair to watch the
                 lottery on the TV.
             •   Zoom into the person placing their hand on the button and cut to the anticipation on the
                 protagonists face.
             •   Have his fingers crossed as a sign of good luck to try and win the lotto.
             •   The first ball is released and the protagonist repeats the number out loud, whilst a close
                 up of the ticket showing the same number, this is repeated until the last number.
             •   Slow motion as the last ball is revealed to a shot of the protagonist’s eye looking at his
                 ticket.
             •   A close up of the celebration on his face, which zooms out to the low angle shot of him
                 staying up to show that he is in control of the situation.
             •   The protagonist says “Friday the 13th unlucky for some eh?” and the camera does a close
                 up of him kissing the ticket and takes his celebration outside.
             •   Wide shot of the calm and silent street, as he starts jumping up and down and doing a
                 Billy Elliot signature move (clap feet together).
             •   A cut to show the trees blowing in the wind to the protagonist letting go of the ticket as
                 it gets blown out of his hand.
             •   Close up of ticket and follow its trail as it goes to the drain. As following the ticket a
                 passer by is visible in the background but not clear.
             •   Close up of the devastated face of the protagonist shouting “noooooo!” and has a high
                 angle shot of him crouching down to see if he can spot the ticket down the drain. This is
Bad day          to show that he has lost control of the situation and is in a powerless position.
-Daniel      •   As he goes on the passer by seen in the previous shot who has observed the incident is
Powter           shown and closes up on her clover necklace (if have one, if not ignore the necklace part)
playing in       and says “Friday the 13th, unlucky for some eh?”
the          •   And fades out as she walks away with her head high as the protagonist has his hands in
background       his head in the foreground (shallow focus).
