Communication Skills Needed Throughout A Child s...
The main form of communication in society is spoken language, supported and enhanced by the
delivery of gestures, facial expressions, body posture and movement (Fellowes Oakley, 2014, pp.
18 19). To be able to understand language a child will first need to understand speech. Both
expressive and receptive oral languageare important for communicationskills needed throughout a
child s schooling (2014, p. 19). Children learn to copy and produce meaningful speech gradually
and decode language used by people around them (2014, p. 20).
Joining both Semiotic systems are ways meanings are communicated between people, and both
spoken and written language are part of one semiotic system (Anstey Bull, cited in Fellowes
Oakley, 2014, p. 19).
Written
Depending on the purpose and audience, written genres can be either expressive/imaginative or
factual (Emmitt, 2010, p. 77). The expressive/imaginative genre delivers feelings in an imaginative
way including journals, poetic literacy and narratives (2010, p. 77). Factual types convey
information through reports, descriptions and textbooks (2010, p. 77). Digital technologies are
changing communication through written language with text messages, emails, Facebook and now
Twitter which has a limited 140 characters per tweet (2010, p. 77). Digital media are returning
language to conversational, interactive, here and now foundations as well as using metaphors,
concrete images in virtual worlds (Gee Hayes, 2011, p. 6).

Depreciation and New Equipment
Point of View
This case study is discussed from Paperco, Inc. point of view of whether they should avail the tax
benefits and cost savings in replacing the mechanical drying equipment.
Recommendation
Based on the analysis below in this memo, Paperco should purchase new mechanical drying
equipment now in advance in anticipation of the passage of new tax legislation. Purchasing the
equipment now maintains a positive Net Present Value for the capital project if the legislation is
not enacted, or if the new legislation is enacted and the capital project is contracted early enough
so that it is grandfathered in. With tax legislation grandfathered, the project gets the benefit of the
new lower corporate tax rate and the old ACRS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paperco would retain all tax credits due to the fact the machine has been in service for 84 months,
and use a 5 year ACRS depreciation model for the new equipment. This option has a positive NPV
of $2,619,745.
Option II in which the new tax proposal is enacted. The new equipment is installed in December
1986. Paperco signs a binding contract soon enough to be grandfathered , this allows Paperco to
receive the 8% tax credit and use ACRS depreciation. At the same time, their tax rate would fall to
34%. Paperco would benefit from this more favorable grandfathered tax approach. Option II has a
positive NPV of $3,414,104.
Option III in which the new tax proposal is enacted and Paperco installs the new equipment in
December 1986, but they do not sign a binding contract in time to be grandfathered and receive the
8% investment tax credit and use ACRS depreciation. The company will use MACRS and a
depreciation period of 7 years. The NPV of the project with this timing and structure is $3,228,044.
Without the grandfathered tax allowance, the new tax legislation makes the project unattractive
based on lower Net Present Value.
Calculations
Re affirmation
There are three options available to Paperco, Inc. with respect to this capital investment:
Option I: New legislation is passed and Paperco

The Importance Of Cultural Anthropology
Anthropology is the social sciences discipline that looks to understand humanity. In this discipline
there are subdivisions such as cultural anthropology and primatology, and the beauty of
anthropology is that you can more than you think, link some of your life event to some
anthropological context.
Cultural anthropology is one of the four fields of anthropology. It looks for patterns of beliefs or
behaviours in a group and how they are connected. Anthropologist looks at differences and
similarities between different groups and different cultures. They obtain their data through field
work. There is actually two method of for anthropologist to study a culture of a group; ethnography
and ethnology. Ethnography is a detailed description of a particular group based on the information
you get with field work. Most anthropologist actually go live with this particular group for a certain
amount of time to get the more information possible and write the most detailed and accurate
description of this group. The other method, ethnology, is a study of different cultures from cross
cultural comparison. In this method, they generalized a lot and they using the information of some
ethnographic studies already done.
Imagine that I have chosen to pursue research cultural anthropology and that I have received a
research grant to fund my study, I will choose to focus on the indigenous people in Canada
(MГ©tis and Inuit). I would like to know why this people have decides to live in particular

The s Control Theory And Merton s Strain Theory Essay
On the sunny day of June 4, 2014 in Monkton, New Brunswick, 24 year old Justin Bourque
loaded his rifle, drove his truck to a local gas station, and brutally murdered 3 RCMP officers. In
the aftermath of this shocking crime, criminologists ask themselves two questions: why did this
happen, and even more importantly, how can we prevent it from happening again? Hirschi s
Control Theory and Merton s Strain Theory suggest that Bourque s failure to properly bond with
our society and his inability to succeed within it directly led to the most extreme form of social
deviance: murder. Considered one of the worst crimes in Canadian history (The Canadian Press,
2014), on the day of June 4, 2016, 24 year old Justin Bourque of Moncton, New Brunswick killed
three RCMP officers, Const. Fabrice Gevauden, Const. Dave Ross, and Const. Douglas Larche. As
well as seriously injuring Const. Eric Dubois and Const. Darlene Goguen. (Daily Gleaner, 2014)
After shooting the officers, a thirty hour man chase ensued until Bourque was finally captured.
Once in captivity, Bourque was questioned about his motives and eventually admitted to the
interrogators that [he] wanted to set fire to three or four gas stations and then sit, shoot and scoot.
[Bourque] would have taken more Mounties down and just kept going from there (CBC
Television, 2014) Bourque lived alone in a trailer park after leaving his family home two years
previous and it was noted by family members that Bourque s emotional and mental

John F. Kennedy s Assassination
John F Kennedy grew up in a wealthy and very political family. His assassination was a shock to
many. It was a time of Cold War and the peak of US involvement in Vietnam. It is important to
understand the John F. Kennedy regime including both its national and foreign policy. You also
need to look into his personal life. This would help to create motives, and find the primary aspect
to consider when looking into any homicide, assassination or murder. He was the first president
who was a Boy Scout, the youngest ever to be elected president, He won the Pulitzer Prize in
history for the book Profiles in Courage, and He was credited in starting the Peace Corp. Would all
of this and perhaps more be the cause of his own death? Did Lee Harvey... Show more content on

had physiological issues as well. Psychologically, Oswald had always been a loner and an
outsider. He had always been attracted to things that would provide enhanced self esteem,
becoming a Marine, learning Russian, defecting to Russia, inventing a fictitious chapter of a
radical political organization. But it was the attacks on his psyche in childhood his father dying, his
experiencing only sporadic and detached associations with his mother s boyfriends, his relationship
with an angry, unstable and domineering mother that helped turn Lee s psyche in adulthood into an
embittered, angry misfit. (AYTON) At last the most basic and dooming story originated from

Drug Delivery Via The Nasal Route
Introduction
In the past years, drug delivery via the nasal route has established itself as a competitor and an
alternative route over other routes of administration. It provides a higher degree of patient
compliance and drugs can be painlessly self administered by the patient (Illum, 2003). Drugs
administered through nasal route are absorbed rapidly and can reach therapeutically effective
plasma levels quickly due to highly permeable membranes and rich vasculature of the nasal cavity
(Majithiya et al., 2006). In addition, the nasal route offers further advantages over the oral route,
especially for those drugs that have poor oral bioavailability due to high hepatic first pass
metabolism, pH instability and enzyme degradation in GIT (Ugwoke et al., 2001).
Nowadays, the intranasal route has gained more interest to target drugs to the brain and cerebro
spinal fluid by passing the blood brain barrier. Intranasal formulation of drugs for the treatment of
Parkinson s disease (Khan et al., 2010), Alzheimer s disease (Zhang et al., 2004) and psychosis
(Kumar et al., 2008) have been elaborated and their therapeutic efficiency over conventional oral
dosage form has been verified.
Rivastigmine tartrate (RV) is the drug of choice for the treatment of Alzheimer s disease that is
characterized by progressive memory dysfunction due to significant insufficient levels of
acetylcholine in the brain (Williams et al., 2003). RV is categorized in the class of reversible
cholinesterase

Implementing Alternate Technologies Improve The Power...
IMPLEMENTING ALTERNATE TECHNOLOGIES TO IMPROVE THE POWER HANDLING
CAPACITY OF ALL Si MEMS PHASE SHIFTERS
Abstract: This proposal paper analyze and suggest the alternate methods to reduce the heat
dissipation and power consumption of MEMS phase shifters while they are being used in the real
time environment i.e., in a closed loop operation. So many advancements in the MEMS technology
make the MEMS production very effective, but still there are some drawbacks in its structure and
in its performance, which pulls the system efficiency to down. Self and mutual inductions are the
two major run time defects which affects the performances of the MEMS devices and increases its
power consumption when there is a physical data link between two blocks. If the proper steps are
taken then, the measurement results can range up to 40dBm at 75 GHz or even more. Hence by
using alternate methods for the communication between the two blocks using PIC 16f778
controller we can reduce the temperature rise in all Si phase shifters, which is 20 30 times lesser
than the conventional MEMS phase shifters. Also by implementing this idea we can reduce the
fabrication cost and we can make a great revolution in the field of embedded systems.
Key terms: Microwave, phase shifters, optic fiber, radio frequency micro electro mechanical
systems.

Reflection On The Dubuque Community Ymca

unfamiliar! But despite my fear, I swam across the entire pool all on my own and I was actually
pretty good. I was encouraged by great Y staff to keep swimming, and shortly thereafter, I ended up
joining the Y s swim team. Being a Y kid growing up, I have experienced firsthand the type of
impact the Dubuque Community YMCA/YWACA has on its young members. After graduating
from college with a degree in Nonprofit Administration, I jumped at the opportunity to join the staff
here. I am currently the Aquatics Director Associate Youth Sports Director. My main goal is to

Plea Bargains In Prisons
American prison food was already subpar to begin with, but with budget cuts and efforts to save
money, many prisons and companies chose to make cuts with the quality and amounts of food
given to the prisoners. The Schuylkill County Prison in Pennsylvania was sued for not feeding
their inmates enough to feed a child (Santo Iaboni, 2015). Some prisons, and private companies,
generally go by a calorie minimum that must be provided, which sometimes allow for prisoners
to only get two meals a day, these meals can cost as low as 56 cents per meal, and supposedly these
menus are being reviewed by a nutritionist (Santo Iaboni, 2015). One of these meal programs

A more common practice would be fines, followed by suspended sentences (Subramanian Shames,

penalties can also be a possible sentence, like suspended sentences, the offender is still in the
community and under a supervisor, but is also required to complete a work order, which can be
training or another community based activity which teaches the offender different behavioral or
communication skills (Subramanian Shames, 2014). These penalties are allowing offenders to

Summary Of Chapter One Of Thomas Friedman s The World Is Flat
Chapter Eight of Thomas Friedman s The World is Flat explains six dirty secrets when it comes to
America s standing as a competitive nation, six truths that reveal that America will not maintain its
relative wealth if the world continues to flatten. The first of these secrets is what Friedman calls the
numbers gap , referring to the declining number of Americans who are training to become scientists
and engineers compared to citizens of other nations. Friedman posits that scientists and engineers
are paramount to an economy that wishes to be flourish and be competitive. Before the world
began to flatten, citizens of foreign nations would have to emigrate to America if they wished to be
a scientist or an engineer, because their home country had no equivalent labs to those of America.
Now, with the effects of flattening and the Internet, researchers can collaborate over the Internet,
and globalizationallows labs to have multiple, international locations. Adding onto this, as Eric
Stern explains, Americans don t see the fun in science and engineering jobs. Most Americans are
turned off by the difficult and unentertaining... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The funding gap refers to the decline in Federal spending on scientific research, which is also
imperative to innovation. The infrastructure gap refers to the poor American Broadband Internet
infrastructure. Broadband Internet is essential to allowing collaboration and equal access to
information across the nation. Instead of attaining developed research and Broadband
infrastructure, Congress and President Bush have resorted to pork barrel legislation and less
necessary line items, such as defense. Congress and the President each need to begin initiatives to
increase funding going to research, and set up a strong Broadband infrastructure so that all
Americans can have cheap access to fast Internet, joining the rest of the flat world in doing

Differences Between Types of Mouth Guards
In dentistry there are three main types of mouth guards. The first one is the Stock mouth protector.
This protector is preformed and it comes ready to wear immediately. These ones can be bought at
department stores and are fairly inexpensive. When you get one of these guards it is not easy to
adjust or fit in the mouth since they are sold at stores. In some instances they do not offer or
provide much safety or protection, and with this dentist do not recommend these for their patients.
Some other names for guards include; bite plane, bite splint, gum guard, gum shield, mouth piece,
mouth protector, night guard, and occlusal splint. The second protector is the Boil and bite mouth
protector. This one is a little more fitting and helps protect the teeth. This one you can also get at a
store, but the difference between this protector and the stock mouth protector is that this mouth
piece is made out of a thermoplastic material. This means that when you get this guard you put it
into hot bowling water and then put the piece in your mouth and it makes an impression around the
teeth using your finger and tongue to put pressure on it to form to your mouth. The third protector
that is used in dentistryis the Custom Fitted mouth protector. This protector is highly recommended
by dentist due to the fact that it is fitted and formed to your mouth in a direct way. This is made
inside a dental office after the assistant and or dentist make a mold of your teeth and mouth.

Pros And Cons Of President Trump s Economic Growth
Summary: The end of 2016 had 2% economic growth, that continues to slowly grow. The growth
of economy means that there is an increase of goods and services. President Trump has tried to
make proposals, such as the growth of GDP (gross domestic product), but many of these proposals
seem to possibly cause a trade war. A trade war would have a bad result for America, because of the
cost it would cost the economy, government and taxpayers. The slower growth of the economy has
different explanations, like the internet bubble, but no sure answer. Trump s more bigger plans for
economy growth is to invest in new automated plants, worker training, fuel growth and retraining
should improve long term productivity, helping with more mass production.

Deat Death Research Paper
God s original intent is that dominion be expressed through a relationship with God and others. It
is not surprising that Satan, as part of his agenda to rob God of His glory, would do what he can to
promote division within humanity. This division is seen all across humanity including the church.
Conflict originated in the Garden of Edenwhen Adam and Evesinned. As stated earlier, Adam and
Eve lived in perfect harmony with God and each other. Their relationship had great freedom. God
s only stipulation was that they were not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
God said if you eat of it, ...in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die (Gen. 2:17b). When they
sinned against God by eating the fruit, death became a reality.... Show more content on

The Bible does not support this; rather it supports a definition of separation. The Kregel
Dictionary of the Bible and Theology states, Scripture emphasizes that death is a separation
rather than cessation, except that the physical body ceases to function until resurrected in a
different form. Adam and Eve were separated from their relationship to God and paradise (Gen.
3:23 24). They died or were separated with respect to their covenant privileges and suffered the
indictment and judgment of their Sovereign. Death as separation is also a physical separation
between the body and spirit and soul (1 Cor. 15:21 22). Eternal death is an endless separation
from the presence of God 1Cor. 6:9 10). Adam and Eve felt the immediate effects of death because

Too much Tolerance Essay
Too much Tolerance
Dogmatic Tolerance = Hypocritical
Tolerance. It is a word synonymous with peace, good will, brotherly love, acceptance and
forgiveness. It is a virtue that is essential in a world filled with racial and religious discrimination.
But at the same time tolerance, or, more specifically, the modern, politically correct definition of
tolerance, holds some very dangerous pitfalls which, if our government, and we, as a people are
not careful of, could be crippling to the individualism, and the religious diversity of Canada, and the
world.
The dictionary definition of tolerance is: The capacity for, or the practice of recognizing and
respecting the beliefs or practices of others , but the definition has become much, ... Show more

But incompatibility will be wiped away, and anything that is sure, or real will be snuffed out as
narrow mindedness.
You see, complete tolerance is impossible. By being so dogmatically tolerant as to state that there is
no complete truth, is to, because of the nature of that statement, exclude, or be intolerant towards
those whose beliefs state otherwise. Complete tolerance is an oxymoron, and is incompatible with
many religious beliefs including Christianities, whose bible clearly states that it is the only true
religion . In that case, total tolerance is not only impossible, it also limits the ability of many to
worship fully in their religion. The government is passing through various bills and amendments
that are pushed through in the name of tolerance, but, in fact, according to the true definition if it is
still permissible to say such a thing these bills are decreasing the amount of tolerance that our
government has towards groups whose ideas qualify as hate literature.
That is why we need to act. Tolerance is good, but tolerance under the label that society has given
it will become harmful to the public, and to the church. Racism is horrible, yes. Religious
discrimination is illegitimate, of course. Words and names such as Apartheid , the Catholic
Crusades and Bloody Mary will not be forgotten or missed, but if our path continues down the road
it is traveling, tolerance will be grouped into a section of the English language that

Use Of Foreshadowing In William Goldman s The Princess Bride
William Goldman the author of The Princess Bride uses the foreshadowing technique
anticipation both within the story and in his asides to create an edge of your seat reading

the interjections of Goldman. In the first chapter of the book when Buttercup is seventeen, she
and Wesley declare their love to one another followed by the immediate departure of Wesley with
these parting words I ll send for you soon. Believe me (64). Buttercup eagerly awaits the return of

One of my theories, he said somewhat later, is that pain involves anticipation (259). Count
Rugen says this to Wesley in the Zoo of Death before leaving Wesley with the machine that had

anticipation. Wesley resides on the fifth floor of the Zoo of Death, the one Humperdink left the

Object Permanence In Children
From birth to the age of two, children have to develop in many more ways than almost any other
age. These years are spent using their sense and movements to properly understand what the
environment is. In order for children to begin this recognition period of the world, they utilize the
little abilities that they are born with: sucking, looking, grasping, and listening. During this stage,
children begin to learn object permanence. Object permanence is realization that objects continue to
exist even when they are out of sight. Such as the startle that a child receives when you play peek a
boo with them. When they cannot see you, they sincerely believe that you are no longer there, and
when you reappear, that are stunned that you have returned.

David Kolb s Framework Of Experiential Learning
A big proponent of ESL learning, what my case study consists of, can be compared to David Kolb s
framework of experiential learning. Kolb s experiential learning cycle features four stages: the
concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation, and active experimentation.
The first stage, concrete experience, involves doing or having an experience. The second stage,
reflective observation, involves reviewing or reflecting on the experience. The third stage, abstract
conceptualisation, involves concluding or learning from the experience. The fourth stage, active
experimentation, involves planning or trying out what you learned. ISLA, which stands for

outcomes and process (Mastrofski, 1998). The overall image of police reflects perceptions, feelings
and evaluations about the police in general. As Gallagher, Maguire, Mastrofski, Reisig (2001)
stated, this area includes various general descriptions and analysis of the confidence and trust in the
police (e.g., Hough, Jackson Bradford, 2013; Stanko, Jackson, Bradford Kohl, 2012), satisfaction

The original form proposed by Osgood et. al (1957) was structured on three dimensions: Evaluation,
Potency and Activity, and has been confirmed by previous pan cultural studies (e.g. Heise, 1970;
Osgood, May Miron, 1975, etc.). Evaluation relates to goodness or badness, morality, utility, etc.,
Potency to magnitude, social power, strength, expansiveness, etc., whereas Activity relates to speed,
animation, spontaneity, etc. (Heise, 2010).
Although it was frequently used to measure attitudes (Osgood et al., 1957) or the meaning of
concepts (Doyle Bottomley, 2010; Mindak, 1961), SDS has proven useful in many areas, including
in the assessment of organizational image (de ex. Bonner George, 1988; Van Heerden Puth, 1995),
corporate image, advertising image, brand or service image, also (Smith Albaum, 2005).
In order to measure the meaning of the concept, the semantic differentiator usually uses a five or
seven point scale, based on a list of bipolar paired terms, with opposite meaning. According to their
disposition, attitude or image of the assessed construct, respondents select a point on the interval
for each contrasting pair. Each interval is expressed by quantifiers with certain magnitudes, with a
neutral point as central quantifier (Lopes, Nogueira Martins, Andrade Barros, 2011).

Two Tough Calls Case Study
1.A. How would you describe the HR practices and beliefs of the program manager, the narrator of
this case?
For the most part, I believe the narrator had a good outlook with her HR practices and beliefs. She
understood the company did not always do the right thing, but she wanted to make sure she did the
right thing to make her a better manager. The narrator had the ability to be honest with the people,
which would help to make the department stronger. There is not need to lie to people to make
them happy. If people need additional training or development, then they should be aware of what
is expected and what they need to improve. It is better to be up front with the people, because

little or no experience. This will actually hinder the performance of the groups.
3. A. Who s to blame for the program manager s work difficulties with Terry top management, HR
department, prior managers, or the program manager in this case? Discuss. The blame for the
program manager s work difficulties with Terry are a direct result of the handling of Terry by
the previous program manager. While some people would say the blame should lie on the upper
management for hiring Terry, the previous manager was the one that constantly gave Terry above
average grades on performance reviews. If the previous manager was giving Terry above average
grades on performance reviews due to upper management, then I would say it is both the previous
manager and upper management s fault. The previous manager had an obligation to ensure the
performance grades were in line with the performance of the individual. If the manager did grade
accordingly, and the upper management changed the grading, then it is

Harvesters Judgement Act Analysis
Social Legislation at the turn of the twentieth century made Australia a more reformed and
progressive nation as a whole. Social Legislation was the result of Federation and made Australia
more developed compared to other countries as their identity was stronger and Australia had a high
standard of living at the time. Social legislation had three main acts which were Harvester
Judgement (1907), Invalid and Old AgePensions (1908) and Maternity Allowance (1912), these
schemes mainly benefited white Australians. The Harvesters judgement act was established in
1907 and was made so male workers would have an appropriate wagethat could support their wife
and three children. It was created by Justice Henry Bourne Higgens who was the president of the
commonwealth conciliation and arbitration court at the time. Before the act workers would work
very long hours with very little pay. Working conditions were hard and dangerous and due to the
low wage protective clothing and hygiene was an issue. In the 1890 s there were industrial
disputes due to conditions and wage which as a result meant that the new federal government at
the time of federation had to resolve this without turning to violence. In conclusion they found
wage the biggest issue after listening to worker s testimony s about their issues. It was only fair
that a minimum wage was to be made which consisted of seven shillings a day or 42 a week
which is roughly $4.20. This was the first time that employers were

U.s. Covert Operations Enacted During The Soviet...
In the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, former President George W. Bush gave a
speech that resonated with millions of people. America was targeted for attack because we re
the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world, said Bush. This rhetoric became
a popular opinion which still lasts today. However, it is misleading. The true events that
produced the 9/11 attacks are not realized by most Americans. In reality, the September 11th
terrorist attacks were a product of the history of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East,
particularly regarding the covert operations enacted during the Soviet occupation of
Afghanistan. To understand the complicated sequence of events that led to 9/11, one first must
understand how United States foreign policy is made and enacted. U.S. foreign policy is largely
made by a very select group of officials, including the President. This is referred to as the deep
state . The deep state is the idea of a government within the government that enforces federal
actions and has the ability to override public policy. No one is elected for the position, and there
are certainly no checks and balances. These actions include covert operations, which are secret
operations that may even be illegal. The illegality of these operations and the entire organization
are protected via cover up. Ultimately, the deep state allows special interests to dominate and
corrupt U.S. foreign policy. The impact of these special interests is

The Presentation Of Conformity And Subversion Of Gothic...
Discuss the presentation of conformity and subversion of gothic archetypes
The gothic genre has been a prominent literary style throughout many eras, a popular example
being The Castle of Otranto . I have studied three texts; Emile Bronte s novel Wuthering Heights
, published in December 1847, The Selected Poems of John Keats , published in 1817 and the
later The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter, published in 1979. They all use gothic elements in
different ways to create a variety of effects and reflect on their own personal views, Carter in
particular as a post modern writer and Keats confusion of sexuality.
The three texts I have studied all conform to the gothic genre in similar ways such as, the use of
setting (use Gothic conventions to develop setting). For example in The Eve of St Agnes the
primary setting is a medieval castle which is portrayed as being sinister and isolated, Keats
describes a lowly arched way , the adjective lowly suggests the insignificance and unimportance of
the castle. The cobwebs could further highlight the fact that the castle is old and has remained
uninhabited for a number of years suggesting an ominous presence. In addition to this, it could also
suggest the prescence of insects and spiders within the castle connoting danger and eeriness
creating a spine chilling atmosphere. Keats further makes use of the gothic setting within Madeline
s bedroom Similarly, Bronte creates a highly gothic setting in Wuthering HeightsLockwood

Robert Frost s Home Burial
In Home Burial, Robert Frost uses language and imagery to show how differently a man and a
women deal with grief. The poem not only describes the grief the two feel for the loss of their
child but also the impending death of a marriage. Frost shows this by using a dramatic style set in
New England. In his narrative poem, Frost starts a tense conversation between the man and the wife
whose first child had died recently. Not only is there dissonance between the couple, but also a
major communication conflict between the husbandand the wife. As the poem opens, the wife is
standing at the top of a staircase looking at her child s grave through the window. Her husband is

Looking at lines 3 9 you are able to see that the wife looks at her world through eyes of fear:
Looking back over her shoulder at some fear.
She took a doubtful step and then undid it
To raise herself and look again...
And her face changed from terrified to dull. (l. 3 9)
Even though the wife may feel that her husband does not understand her grief, he does try to reach
out to her. He implores her, Help me, then (l.46). He knows that he has a difficult time
communicating with her and observes:
My words are nearly always an offence. I don t know how to speak of anything. So as to please
you. But I might be taught. I should suppose. I can t say I see how. A man must partly give up
being a man. With women folk. (l.48 53) The husband acknowledges that she is grieving and
asks her, Let me into your grief (l.62). He pleads with her, Give me my chance (l.64). He asks
for help in such a way that his wife pushes him away again. She throws the accusation at him,
There you go sneering now! (l.70). This starts a second argument between the two. The argument
now is whether the husband can grieve for the child, in the way that he is allowed without society
looking down on him? The husband wants the world to know that he is hurting too, but how can
he do this? The husband was never taught to grieve, so he is in the process of learning how to do
this. The wife does not

REVIEW OF LITERATURE:
Sugar is a highly concentrated in sugar cane sugar beets. Sugar is mainly used to sweeten food
and to prevent micro organisms from growing and spoiling food. Salt is a mineral composed of
sodium chloride. Its a crystallized mineral from rock salt and halite. Salts main usage is for
cooking, cleaning, and many health uses. While doing this project we discovered that 99.95 % of
sugar is pure sucrose. Although salt is used for cooking it is also used for cleaning. The ocean has
35grams of salt per liter which equals salinity of 3.5% We started this project to see the crystal

of sugar and salt into the pots. When they are finally dissolved you add the salt water to one
container and the sugar water to its own container but make sure you don t fill it up all the way
leave 1in. Then you let it sit until it is warm. Next you stick a stick into the jars without the stick
touching the bottom. Mix it. Then you put the cover on with the stick through the cover then clip it
with the clothespin so the stick does not move. Then you put it on the side and let it sit where it
will not be hit. Check it daily until it is fully formed. Mark down observations.
RESULTS:
The end result of our project was that the salt formed a crystal before sugar did. On day seven the
crystal formation was 2 ВЅ inches for salt. For sugar it took ten days until it reached 2 ВЅ inches.
Although the crystals did not form on the stick because we messed up it formed around the
container therefore that is how we measured the growth.

India s An Imposition Of Western Culture
This essay will explore the phenomenon of Bollywood and analyze it as a product of
consumerism in India that reflects both the fault lines of globalization and the failures of
commercial culture. This will be done by providing a historical context to globalization; an
overview of India s independence movement and emergence as a nation, a brief overview of
Bollywood as a commercial entity and identify parallel cultural and economic trends. This essay
will proceed to reveal Bollywood as an imposition of Western culture, the product of an intense
commercialization of indigenous art forms, and a lens that reflects the dualities in Modern day
India. Globalization is a term to describe the increasing wave of globalized markets and the
institutions and regimes that uniformly determine access to such markets; namely privatization,
free flow of capital, deregulation and foreign investment rights. India currently stands as the world
s largest democracy; a parliamentary system inherited from the British Commonwealth tradition
where approximately 700 million citizens enjoy enfranchisement. The fault lines of India s
democracy run parallel with the country s economic divisions; a profound disparity of wealth is
widespread. The large class divisions in Indian society, rooted in the traditional caste system,
exacerbated and exploited during the colonial era, have been further entrenched with the rise of
Globalization. India s cultural and religious fabric is a complex and often

The American Jim Crow Laws And South African Apartheid
As a result of racial segregation in both the United States and South Africa, the coloured people s
resistance escalated. In truth, this time of division strengthened nationalism their weapon that
[transformed their] common suffering into hope for the future (Mandela, Notes to the Future 2012,
84). Moreover, the American Jim Crow Laws and South African apartheid led to discrimination,
activism, reform and most importantly reconciliation.
In both America and South Africa, the schism between Africans and their government worsened.
Even though both nations gained independence from Britain, the colonial mindset was persistent
and continued to victimize other races. Despite the Emancipation Proclamation ending slavery, the
United States Congress passed the Jim Crow Laws. In other words, these laws ensured that blacks
. . . had more in common with African American slaves . . . than with the [Caucasian
businessmen] (Bausum 2012, 19). Similarly, South Africa s National Party in 1948 legalized
apartheid South Africa s brand of segregation. More specifically, these laws isolated races into
separate buildings and enforced racial purity. To make matters worse, segregation ensnared
coloured people in poverty by depriving them of quality government services. For instance, in both
countries intermarriage was a crime. Also, the African American garbage men received insufficient
salaries that [were] based on their garbage routes rather than an hourly wage (Bausum 2012, 14). In

Discussion:
MSUD is a disorder of BCAAs metabolism with a frequency of 1/185,000 live newborns all over
the world, while incidence is quite high in Eastern part Pennsylvania as high as 1 in 200(1). It is
an autosomal recessive hereditary metabolic disorder is due to defective oxidative
decarboxylation of the branched chain alphaketoacids (BCKAs) derived from transamination of
the the BCAAs, valine, leucine and isoleucine. The oxidative decarboxylation of this BCKAs is
catalyzed by the branched chain alphaketoacid dehydrogenase (BCKDH) complex(2). These

exchange transfusions, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous hemofiltration have been utilized in
neonates with MSUD. All this modalities has varying success in reducing systemic BCAA
levels(6). MSUD is very rare in most populations worldwide, published reports of diagnosis and
treatment of MSUD usually involve only a few patients and most have focused on management of
the acute illness. As a result, reaching an agreement about various management issues has been

Female Characters Overthrowing Gender Roles
Throughout the world of writing, including short fiction, women are portrayed as good, evil, funny,
dry, smart, stupid, almost any adjective you can think of. Kate Chopin, a primarily short story
writer, does not fall short of this statement. Through her stories, The Storm, and The Story of an
Hour, the women seem to be trapped in confining genderroles. By the conclusion of each story all
the women find a way to challenge their everyday roles and overthrow them in some matter.
Although these stories are dissimilar from each other, both show the struggle that women have
against one or several antagonists in their lives. Chopin shows hardships through internal and

Although her way of avoidance was not harsh, Calixta still was trying to leave the restraints of her
husband and family. Aside from The Storm, Kate Chopin shows a different side of a gender
confining role in her succeeding short story.
The Story of an Hour, is an ironic love story of a newly widowed woman finding a struggle for her
own freedom. The story begins with a friend of Mr. Mallard, Richard, finding out that he has
been killed in a train wreck. Mrs. Mallard s sister Josephine hesitates to tell her of the news
because she knows of her heart condition. Mrs. Mallard finds out that her husband has died; she
is sad, but for only a briefs period of time. Something is different; Mrs. Mallard should feel sad
and not filled with an inner sense of happiness. At this junction, Chopin begins to hint to the read
that this woman is feeling happy about the death of her husband. It is almost like a burden has
been lifted of her shoulders. The un named woman goes to her room and sinks into a chair, only
then does she start to realize her internal joy about the situation. She gets up from the chair and
focuses her body towards the window and begins to notice all the wonderful things about life she
never say before. An open square before her house, the tops of trees that was all aquiver with the

Comparing The Massachusetts Bay Colony And The Virginia...
The Massachusetts Bay colony and the Virginia colony were both English colonies founded around
the same time period in the early 17th century. The Virginia colony somewhere between 1607 and
1611, and the Massachusetts colony in 1629. Though similar they faced different challenges, such
as the Massachusetts colony in King Philip s waror the Virginia colony dealing with Bacon s
rebellion. .
The Massachusetts Bay colony was originally founded by a group of Puritans who were led by
John Winthrop. John Winthrop was a wealthy and educated Puritanwho helped fund the colony on
its voyage to the new world and for supplies. He would eventually serve four terms as the
governor of the colony. For their efforts King Charles I granted the Massachusetts Bay company a
royal charter.A royal charter was a signed order by the King which granted special privileges and
powers to either a single person or in this case to the company. This officially made the colony part
of the empire and encouraged migration to the settlement.
For managing and the general running of the settlement the Massachusetts colony was done by
two elected officials. The Governor of the colony was an elected official who was elected by the
members of the London company. John Winthrop would be the Governor and implemented a
voting system for the colony. For elected officials, a secret ballot would be held and all freemen
were allowed to vote in this election. For lawmaking, John thought that holding a vote over every

Theme Of The Rose That Grew From Concrete
Imagine you were attempting to succeed overcome challenges in your life. In the two text The
Rose that Grew from Concrete and Mother to Son. It explains how life can be hard for anyone.
The poem The Rose that Grew from Concrete is about how life is not easy and the poem Mother
to Son is about how life is not easy for everyone. Both poems share the theme of there is no easy
way in life, but they way the authors developed the theme was similar and different.
First, the poem The Rose that Grew from concrete uses Figurative Language and Symbols to
develop the theme of there is no easy way in life. First, the author uses Figurative Language to
develop the theme by showing us that the Rose can walk without having feet. It says, it learned
to walk without having feet. The author uses Figurative Language to develop the theme of there
is no easy way in life because the author is giving the rose human like features, like walking. This
shows the theme because the author described that the rose was walking without having feet.
Second of all, the author uses characterization to develop the theme by showing us that the
mother is telling her son to persevere through life because it is not easy. She is also telling him
that her life is not easy. It says in the text And boards torn up, And places with no carpet on the
floor. This proves which somehow she needed to step over to arrive where she stands now. This
shows the author used Symbols to develop the theme of there is no easy way in life because the
rose symbolises hope and to never give up on your dreams. This is important to notice because the
rose represents his dreams. To sum up, the author revealed the theme through Figurative Language
and Symbolism which develops the theme there is no easy way in life.

My Happiest Moment
Have dinner with your family or walk in the park with friends. If you re so inclined, put in some
good hours at the office or at your favorite charity, temple or church. Work on your jump shot or
your child s model trains. With luck, you ll find happiness by the by. If not, your time won t be
wasted. You may even bring a little joyto the world, (McMahon Par 12). One of the happiest
moments of my life was when I was with my family, sitting around the tv watching a funny movie.
We were all having a good time and were very happy. This made me loveto spend time with my
family, because we shared laughter and enjoyed each other s company. So therefore, I agree with
McMahon that being less selfish and spending time with the people you love and doing what you
love brings happiness. Someone who is a good example of doing what you love and surrounding
yourself with people you love to make you happy, is Sam Berns. was an American teen who had
progeria and helped raise awareness about the disease. He aired a showing of How to live a
happy life. He talked about how he was sick and told he was going to die. Sam told a story about
how he wanted to be in band and play the drum but because the illness made him weak and small,
he was not able to lift the drum let alone march with it. But this did not stop sam from doing what
he loves, in fact he and team of engineers designed a drum so light that sam could march and play
in the band. He did not let little setbacks affect him from doing

RBBS Phenom Analysis
The RBBS is reported to cause systemic envenoming, local envenoming, anticoagulant
coagulopathy and myotoxicity (Churchman et al., 2010). Although neurotoxicity by RBBS venom
has been demonstrated in in vitro models, there have been no cases of neurotoxicity in human
envenoming (Hart et al., 2013; Ramasamy et al., 2005). Hence RBBS envenoming have not been
regarded as severe and antivenom therapy is only recommended for patients with major systemic
envenomation (White et al., 2001). In addition, hypersensitivity reactions and anaphylaxis to
antivenom administration has been previously described (Churchman et al., 2010; Isbister et al.,
2008, et al., 2012a). The rate of antivenom administration did not appear to have any association

(Pearn et al., 2000; White et al., 2001). The rebound of venom concentrations post TSAV
administration in our patient was very unusual. It is the current understanding is that one vial of
antivenom is sufficient to bind all venom as the venom levels were undetectable in patients post
antivenom administration (Churchman et al., 2010; Group et al., 2012; White et al.,

Bull Trout Research Paper
Introduction: The Bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus) in the family Salmonidae and are a char
native to Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Montana and western Canada. Compared to other
salmonids, bull trout have more specific habitat requirements that appear to influence their
distribution and abundance (USFWS, 2015). Bull trout were historically regarded as pests due to
their voracious predatory behavior. It was thought that bull trout depleted populations of more
desirable game fish by feeding on them when they were very small thus supposedly depleting the
numbers. In fact at one point there was a bounty placed on bull trout tails in Canada to encourage
fisherman to rid the waters of this Bully, which effectively eliminated them from certain watersheds
(Donald, D. B., and D. J. Alger. 1993). At one time in the early 1900 s the Bull Trout thrived in the
waterways of the Northwest. The Upper Snake Recovery Unit for the Bull trout occurs within
central Idaho, northern Nevada, and eastern Oregon. Major drainages include: the SalmonRiver,

Suckley in 1859 as Salmo confluentus, and later Linnaeus gave the Char the genus name
Salvelinus. The bull trout s species name (confluentus), which translates roughly from Latin to
mean flowing together, presumably refers to the larger rivers and streams which they inhabit
(Moyle, 2002). Bull trout are considered char and are native to the Pacific Northwest and western
Canada. The historical range of bull trout includes major river basins in the Pacific Northwest at
about 41 to 60 degrees North latitude, from the southern limits in the McCloud River in northern
California and the Jarbidge River in Nevada to the headwaters of the Yukon River in the Northwest
Territories, Canada (Watson, G. and T. Hillman. 1997) More westward the bull trout s current range
includes Puget Sound, various coastal rivers of British Columbia, Canada, and southeast Alaska

Deviance Examples
Reading Reflection Number One: The Good, the Bad, and the Change of Deviance GO TO
JAIL: Go directly to Jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Community chest, Monopoly.
Unlike board games, deviance in life is extremely complex. It is not as simple as picking up of
an unwanted card, and is certainly not as of straightforward as spending three turns in jail.
Instead, in society today, deviance is portrayed over many different situations, and it arises for
many contrasting reasons based on society s opinions and views. However, over time society s
thoughts and assessments change leading to a transformation of deviant behavior. First and
foremost, there are many devenant actions that over time go through a moral passage. A moral
passage is defined as a change of society s viewing on a deviant behavior. Simply, a once seemed
deviant act becomes socially acceptable. This change can come about for many different reasons
usually ending with the majority of people coming to an agreement that the act is not worth the
demming of deviance. The most common examples of this is the change of the law of achole.
However, there are many other examples of acts deemed socially acceptable with in time. Most
recently, being a homosexual has become in the social norm as well as even within legal rights.
There are many examples of deviant behaviors becoming less deviant and even considered within
the social norm. Further, there are many social norms that over time seem to turn backwards

Concept Of A Multiage Classroom And The Process Of Looping
For one to fully appreciate the concept of a multiage classroom and the process of looping, one
must understand first what it is, secondly, why it is, and thirdly, how it works. Understanding of
what multiage classrooms and looping are is due in large part to veteran and proactive teachers
willing to mix old schoolteaching styles with today s learners and methods. The idea of a multiage
classroom and the concept of looping are directly related to the classic 19th century setting of a one
room schoolhouse (Aina, 2001). In a one room school house, a single teacher was responsible for
educating an entire town s children, all of which varied in ages, grade levels, and abilities.
Providing the teacher remained unmarried or worked in a town where a married teacher was
permitted to teach, children often returned to the school house each year to the same teacher. This
is where the concept of looping and multiage classrooms originate. Imagine it s the first day of
kindergarten and you are walking your child to their classroom for the first time. Rather than a
room full of shy, teary eyed kindergartners, you enter a room that is alive with activity with students
in grades kindergarten through second grade gathered around the room at various tables working on
morning work and getting reacquainted with old friends. Among these students are returning first
and second graders with new kindergarteners mixed into every group. These students are part of an
ongoing learning adventure

Nuclear Power And Nuclear Facilities
In 2014, it was reported that nuclear reactors provided 2411 billion kWh, over 11% of the world s
electricity (Plans for Reactors). During that year, the International Energy Agency held special
attention toward hazardous scenarios. Minus the conspiracy, World Energy Outlook 2014 had a
special focus on nuclear power, and extends the scope of scenarios to 2040 (Plans for Reactors).
In 2030, it is noted that there will be sixty percent capacity growth among nuclear reactors.
Countries with existing nuclear power plant count will increasingly expand their nuclear
stations. China will have an increase of 46%, while Korea, Russia and India will have 30% all
together, whereas the US will have a 16% expansion of nuclear capacity. The plan in motion for
2030 is to have nuclear power plants to have low carbon pollution. It is noteworthy that in the
1980s, 218 power reactors started up, an average of one every 17 days (The Nuclear
Renaissance) today, there are more than 400 nuclear power plants already made and used, now
in the process of expanding their count. In the 1980s, the US had 47 reactors in their base, 18 in
Japan and 42 in France. Now, the generating capacity increased in various countries such as
USA, Belgium, Germany and Sweden. Many countries have power plants which increase in
capacity each year, ...in Switzerland, the capacity of its five reactors has been increased by 13.4%

is authorized to insure bank deposits in eligible banks up to a specified maximum amount that has
been adjusted through the years. Having begun in 1934 with deposit insurance of $5,000 per

Julius Caesar Betrayal In Othello Essay
The greatest enemy of the trusting and the loyal, betrayal is friend only to the greedy and
ostentatious. Historically, betrayal has brought about some of the most significant changes the
world has ever seen. Julius Caesar was betrayed by not only his fellow senators but his own
adopted son Marcus Brutus as well. This would lead to the tyrant s death and as a result, Rome
would suffer. In Othello by William Shakespeare, a powerful man is brought down by those he
believed trustworthy. Betrayal is the only truth that sticks a quote by Arthur Miller that applies
quite well to this literature in that ultimately Iago s deeds to mislead Othello led to the many
untimely deaths of many characters. Within the play, it quickly becomes clear the most... Show

While this does serve as a means to further the plot it also sheds light upon the theme of

he could see. He could not wade past the difference in skin colors to their love. Even going as far

Implementing A Sustainable Society Out Of Our Own Country
For my sustainable society I redesigned the central United States and set up new rules,
regulations and a code of responsibility for U.S citizens to start abiding by in order to become
sustainable by reducing carbon emissions and becoming more of a community based society. I
choose to do the U.S because I thought I was an interesting task to think about what it would take
to make a sustainable society out of our own country. The U.S is the second top producer of CO2
emissions in the world and it directly correlates without dependency on fossil fuels for producing
energy. (EPA, 2008). This is why my first thought about creating a sustainable society out of the
U.S then we would have to greatly reduce, and if not that, totally abolish natural gasproduction in
the U.S. Obviously in a real life setting this would seem that it would tear the country apart however
I think the solution would be to start encouraging and rewarding those individuals and organizations
that a using renewable energyand give them things such as take breaks and government funding.
At the same time we would need to stop subsidizing gas slowly over time in order to make it
more appealing to the average American to switch from natural gas. Renewable energy companies
would be able to create enough jobs to replace those in the natural gas industry. According to the
International Renewable Energy Association renewable energy has already created over 7.7
million jobs worldwide (IRENA, 2016). The U.S gas and oil

Justice and The Crucible While justice is meant to be directed with upmost fairness and equality,
Arthur Miller s film The Crucible demonstrates that this does not always succeed, and in many
situations the forces of injustices are exposed. From different points of views, justice can be formed
or destroyed. In the film The Crucible, Arthur Miller convinces his audience that reason, emotion,
and character shows injustice throughout the social hardship in a Puritan community. Justice is one
of the main themes that is shown throughout The Crucible. Justice is meant to be administrated
with upmost fairness and equality. It is also supposed to be based on ethics, rationality, law, natural

Abigail Williams is one of the characters who uses reasoning to get people put in jail or put to
death. The court uses inaccurate reasoning to kill people and to get people sent to jail. The court
also wants to see the reactions of the people. They make a big deal of killing witches to make the
people of the town feel more safe and to help the people trust the court. In the end, it is just the
opposite effect. Emotion is how anyone reacts to a certain event or to what someone has to say.
In The Crucible, Miller shows emotion by the way he uses certain characters to over exaggerate
things to get the audience s attention in the court. By using emotion, he shows that through
different points of view, justice can be served or destroyed. In the film, Miller uses Abigail
Williams to show how using emotion can make someone get what they want. Abigail over
exaggerates things to get the audience and the judges to have a larger reaction than normal. In the
court, she and her fellow sisters do things to get the audience s attention. She acts like she sees
things and acts like people are torturing her to get them killed or put into jail. To the court, they
feel bad for Abigail which makes them believe that justice will be served once they put the
convicted witches in jail to be put to death. If you looked from the convicted witches point of view,
then justice would not have been served. Character

Exploring Structured And Developmental Learning
Setting a child up for success has always been a common motto within America as the term
Children are our future can be heard in speeches and rallies all across the world. Although ambition
in America has hit an all time low, the Ready by 5 program should continue to remain a priority to
our younger generation because it opens up the door for numbers of children with fresh, curious
and passionate minds who now have the opportunity to explore structured learning habits;
mastering the art of Learning how to Learn. With the primary goal for Ready by 5 being
intervention and education, the hope is to set poverty stricken children up for academic success far
beyond elementary school and to send them off into the world with a strong start. Now, children
will be afforded the opportunity to be exposed to a structured and developmental learning
environment. The ready by 5 program was initially brought to the Yakima in 2009 and has since
educated more than 600 children with that number continuing to grow. Research shows that the first
5 years of a child s life are the most important because they shape a child s health, happiness,
development, learning achievement at school within the family and community, and in life in
general. Personally, I couldn t agree more with that statement as I have seen firsthand, the
progressive development of my own children within that very critical stage. Thomas L. Friedman,
author of The World is Flat, believes that before our world became a

Maggie A Girl Of The Street Essay
Maggie a Girl of the Street is a classic novella written by Stephen Crane in 1893. It is a story filled
with irony, hypocrisy, and most importantly feminism. While the title of Crane s novel implies that
the story is going to focus on Maggie, it actually deals more directly with the Bowery, and how that
environment shapes those who reside there. The setting of the story plays a very important role in
this novella, not only is it responsible for shaping the characters in the story, it is also what creates
the aspects of ecofeminism that a frequently over looked within this story. Ecofeminism has been
defined as a movement that sees a connection between the exploitation and degradation of the
natural world and the subordination and oppression of women. We can see the earlier mentioned
irony, hypocrisy, biblical illusions, and feminism manifest into oppression of multiple characters
within the story, just as we can see the oppression in the environment they live in. Feminism... Show

Ecofeminism is a relatively new activist and academic movement. It focuses on critical connections
between the exploitation of women, and the domination of nature. It takes from the green
movement a concern about the impact of human activities on the non human world and from
feminism the view of humanity as gendered in ways that subordinate, exploit and oppress women.
(Feminism Ecology). Ecofeminism also suggests that women are in fact hurt more then men by
the exploitation of the earth, mainly because women are more vulnerable. The main focus of this
theory are women who are at a higher risk because they are suffering a type of double oppression,
be it race, education, poverty, or the nation they reside in. While ecofeminism does focus on nature
and women being equally oppressed, feminism in general plays a role in the creation and

The Events That Helped Build Spain s Foundation After The...
There were many important people and events that helped build Spain s foundation after the
Spanish Civil War. One of the people I m going to write about is Juan Carlos I, an event that I m
going to write about is the Olympic games in Barcelona in 1992, and last is the education in
Spain. Spain has come a long way since the Spanish Civil War and today is one of the more
beautiful tourist spots for people around the world. Spain is the second largest country in the
EU, from the beautiful Spanish language they speak, to the amazing cultural foods. Spain has
become an amazing country and the history to how they got here was hard fought. First, Juan
Carlos I has played a pivotal role in the transformation of Spain from an arguably state of
repression into what it has become today: a thriving vibrant democracy (Afzali 3). Juan Carlos I
s full name was Juan Carlos Alfoso Victor Maria de Borbon y Borbon Dos Sicilias. He was born
January 5, 1938 in Rome. His grandfather is Alfonso XIII had a blood line that produced kings
of France since Henri IV so Juan Carlos I was pretty much destined to be a king because it ran in
the family. Another important person that played a big role in the transformation of Spain is
Francisco Franco. Francisco Franco was interested in young Juan Carlos. He decided to move
Juan Carlos to Spain to receive a pro Franco education. Once Juan Carlos received his bachelor s
degree he got military training at the Zargosa General Military Academy from

A Feminist Analysis Of Batman s Wonder Woman
Moulton created Wonder Woman to fight the ideals of hypermasculinity in the comic book
industry by introducing a character who would fight with compassion and grace rather than
brute force. At the same time, DC was trying to expand their audience to a female centric
readership. So just 2 years after Batman s introduction Wonder Woman made her first appearance
in All Star comics (1941), she got her solo series in June 1942, in the post first wave feminist era.
Wonder Woman #1 (1942) mainly focuses on Diana s origin story and the history of Amazonia,
familiarizing the reader with her character and setting out a franchise that would be revered for its
strong feminist views, but is wonder woman really the feminist icon we make her out to be? Is...

  • 2. Communication Skills Needed Throughout A Child s... The main form of communication in society is spoken language, supported and enhanced by the delivery of gestures, facial expressions, body posture and movement (Fellowes Oakley, 2014, pp. 18 19). To be able to understand language a child will first need to understand speech. Both expressive and receptive oral languageare important for communicationskills needed throughout a child s schooling (2014, p. 19). Children learn to copy and produce meaningful speech gradually and decode language used by people around them (2014, p. 20). Joining both Semiotic systems are ways meanings are communicated between people, and both spoken and written language are part of one semiotic system (Anstey Bull, cited in Fellowes Oakley, 2014, p. 19). Written Depending on the purpose and audience, written genres can be either expressive/imaginative or factual (Emmitt, 2010, p. 77). The expressive/imaginative genre delivers feelings in an imaginative way including journals, poetic literacy and narratives (2010, p. 77). Factual types convey information through reports, descriptions and textbooks (2010, p. 77). Digital technologies are changing communication through written language with text messages, emails, Facebook and now Twitter which has a limited 140 characters per tweet (2010, p. 77). • 3. Depreciation and New Equipment Point of View This case study is discussed from Paperco, Inc. point of view of whether they should avail the tax benefits and cost savings in replacing the mechanical drying equipment. Recommendation Based on the analysis below in this memo, Paperco should purchase new mechanical drying equipment now in advance in anticipation of the passage of new tax legislation. Purchasing the equipment now maintains a positive Net Present Value for the capital project if the legislation is not enacted, or if the new legislation is enacted and the capital project is contracted early enough so that it is grandfathered in. With tax legislation grandfathered, the project gets the benefit of the new lower corporate tax rate and the old ACRS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paperco would retain all tax credits due to the fact the machine has been in service for 84 months, and use a 5 year ACRS depreciation model for the new equipment. This option has a positive NPV of $2,619,745. Option II in which the new tax proposal is enacted. The new equipment is installed in December 1986. Paperco signs a binding contract soon enough to be grandfathered , this allows Paperco to receive the 8% tax credit and use ACRS depreciation. At the same time, their tax rate would fall to 34%. Paperco would benefit from this more favorable grandfathered tax approach. Option II has a positive NPV of $3,414,104. Option III in which the new tax proposal is enacted and Paperco installs the new equipment in December 1986, but they do not sign a binding contract in time to be grandfathered and receive the 8% investment tax credit and use ACRS depreciation. The company will use MACRS and a depreciation period of 7 years. The NPV of the project with this timing and structure is $3,228,044. Without the grandfathered tax allowance, the new tax legislation makes the project unattractive based on lower Net Present Value. • 4. The Importance Of Cultural Anthropology Anthropology is the social sciences discipline that looks to understand humanity. In this discipline there are subdivisions such as cultural anthropology and primatology, and the beauty of anthropology is that you can more than you think, link some of your life event to some anthropological context. Cultural anthropology is one of the four fields of anthropology. It looks for patterns of beliefs or behaviours in a group and how they are connected. Anthropologist looks at differences and similarities between different groups and different cultures. They obtain their data through field work. There is actually two method of for anthropologist to study a culture of a group; ethnography and ethnology. Ethnography is a detailed description of a particular group based on the information you get with field work. Most anthropologist actually go live with this particular group for a certain amount of time to get the more information possible and write the most detailed and accurate description of this group. The other method, ethnology, is a study of different cultures from cross cultural comparison. In this method, they generalized a lot and they using the information of some ethnographic studies already done. • 5. The s Control Theory And Merton s Strain Theory Essay On the sunny day of June 4, 2014 in Monkton, New Brunswick, 24 year old Justin Bourque loaded his rifle, drove his truck to a local gas station, and brutally murdered 3 RCMP officers. In the aftermath of this shocking crime, criminologists ask themselves two questions: why did this happen, and even more importantly, how can we prevent it from happening again? Hirschi s Control Theory and Merton s Strain Theory suggest that Bourque s failure to properly bond with our society and his inability to succeed within it directly led to the most extreme form of social deviance: murder. Considered one of the worst crimes in Canadian history (The Canadian Press, 2014), on the day of June 4, 2016, 24 year old Justin Bourque of Moncton, New Brunswick killed three RCMP officers, Const. Fabrice Gevauden, Const. Dave Ross, and Const. Douglas Larche. As well as seriously injuring Const. Eric Dubois and Const. Darlene Goguen. (Daily Gleaner, 2014) After shooting the officers, a thirty hour man chase ensued until Bourque was finally captured. Once in captivity, Bourque was questioned about his motives and eventually admitted to the interrogators that [he] wanted to set fire to three or four gas stations and then sit, shoot and scoot. [Bourque] would have taken more Mounties down and just kept going from there (CBC Television, 2014) Bourque lived alone in a trailer park after leaving his family home two years previous and it was noted by family members that Bourque s emotional and mental ... • 6. John F. Kennedy s Assassination John F Kennedy grew up in a wealthy and very political family. His assassination was a shock to many. It was a time of Cold War and the peak of US involvement in Vietnam. It is important to understand the John F. Kennedy regime including both its national and foreign policy. You also need to look into his personal life. This would help to create motives, and find the primary aspect to consider when looking into any homicide, assassination or murder. He was the first president who was a Boy Scout, the youngest ever to be elected president, He won the Pulitzer Prize in history for the book Profiles in Courage, and He was credited in starting the Peace Corp. Would all of this and perhaps more be the cause of his own death? Did Lee Harvey... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He learned very early in life to hate the world, learned early that he had to sink or swim on his own resources. It is sad that a child had to go through this at a young age but that is no excuse for him to do what he did If he did it or is this a conspiracy too? According to Mel Ayton Oswald s mental state does not have crisp, sharp edged concepts . It has also been said that he Shot John F Kennedy because he looked similar to his wife (marina s) ex boyfriend. Marina states that Lee had no moral sense at all . . . only egotism, anger at others on account of his failures. Lee Oswald had physiological issues as well. Psychologically, Oswald had always been a loner and an outsider. He had always been attracted to things that would provide enhanced self esteem, becoming a Marine, learning Russian, defecting to Russia, inventing a fictitious chapter of a radical political organization. But it was the attacks on his psyche in childhood his father dying, his experiencing only sporadic and detached associations with his mother s boyfriends, his relationship with an angry, unstable and domineering mother that helped turn Lee s psyche in adulthood into an embittered, angry misfit. (AYTON) At last the most basic and dooming story originated from Marina Oswald, Harvey s wife. In addition, her English was extremely poor and so some contend that it would not have been ... • 7. Drug Delivery Via The Nasal Route Introduction In the past years, drug delivery via the nasal route has established itself as a competitor and an alternative route over other routes of administration. It provides a higher degree of patient compliance and drugs can be painlessly self administered by the patient (Illum, 2003). Drugs administered through nasal route are absorbed rapidly and can reach therapeutically effective plasma levels quickly due to highly permeable membranes and rich vasculature of the nasal cavity (Majithiya et al., 2006). In addition, the nasal route offers further advantages over the oral route, especially for those drugs that have poor oral bioavailability due to high hepatic first pass metabolism, pH instability and enzyme degradation in GIT (Ugwoke et al., 2001). Nowadays, the intranasal route has gained more interest to target drugs to the brain and cerebro spinal fluid by passing the blood brain barrier. Intranasal formulation of drugs for the treatment of Parkinson s disease (Khan et al., 2010), Alzheimer s disease (Zhang et al., 2004) and psychosis (Kumar et al., 2008) have been elaborated and their therapeutic efficiency over conventional oral dosage form has been verified. Rivastigmine tartrate (RV) is the drug of choice for the treatment of Alzheimer s disease that is characterized by progressive memory dysfunction due to significant insufficient levels of acetylcholine in the brain (Williams et al., 2003). RV is categorized in the class of reversible cholinesterase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Implementing Alternate Technologies Improve The Power... IMPLEMENTING ALTERNATE TECHNOLOGIES TO IMPROVE THE POWER HANDLING CAPACITY OF ALL Si MEMS PHASE SHIFTERS Abstract: This proposal paper analyze and suggest the alternate methods to reduce the heat dissipation and power consumption of MEMS phase shifters while they are being used in the real time environment i.e., in a closed loop operation. So many advancements in the MEMS technology make the MEMS production very effective, but still there are some drawbacks in its structure and in its performance, which pulls the system efficiency to down. Self and mutual inductions are the two major run time defects which affects the performances of the MEMS devices and increases its power consumption when there is a physical data link between two blocks. If the proper steps are taken then, the measurement results can range up to 40dBm at 75 GHz or even more. Hence by using alternate methods for the communication between the two blocks using PIC 16f778 controller we can reduce the temperature rise in all Si phase shifters, which is 20 30 times lesser than the conventional MEMS phase shifters. Also by implementing this idea we can reduce the fabrication cost and we can make a great revolution in the field of embedded systems. Key terms: Microwave, phase shifters, optic fiber, radio frequency micro electro mechanical systems. I. INTRODUCTION Wireless communication is nowadays widely utilized in many high performance devices and remote sensing systems, comprising radar sensors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But despite my fear, I swam across the entire pool all on my own and I was actually pretty good. Being a Y kid growing up, I have experienced firsthand the type of impact the Dubuque Community YMCA/YWACA has on its young members. After graduating from college with a degree in Nonprofit Administration, I jumped at the opportunity to join the staff here. I am currently the Aquatics Director Associate Youth Sports Director. Plea Bargains In Prisons American prison food was already subpar to begin with, but with budget cuts and efforts to save money, many prisons and companies chose to make cuts with the quality and amounts of food given to the prisoners. The Schuylkill County Prison in Pennsylvania was sued for not feeding their inmates enough to feed a child (Santo Iaboni, 2015). Some prisons, and private companies, generally go by a calorie minimum that must be provided, which sometimes allow for prisoners to only get two meals a day, these meals can cost as low as 56 cents per meal, and supposedly these menus are being reviewed by a nutritionist (Santo Iaboni, 2015). Task penalties can also be a possible sentence, like suspended sentences, the offender is still in the community and under a supervisor, but is also required to complete a work order, which can be training or another community based activity which teaches the offender different behavioral or communication skills (Subramanian Shames, 2014). The first of these secrets is what Friedman calls the numbers gap , referring to the declining number of Americans who are training to become scientists and engineers compared to citizens of other nations. Friedman posits that scientists and engineers are paramount to an economy that wishes to be flourish and be competitive. Before the world began to flatten, citizens of foreign nations would have to emigrate to America if they wished to be a scientist or an engineer, because their home country had no equivalent labs to those of America. Now, with the effects of flattening and the Internet, researchers can collaborate over the Internet, and globalizationallows labs to have multiple, international locations. Adding onto this, as Eric Stern explains, Americans don t see the fun in science and engineering jobs. Most Americans are turned off by the difficult and unentertaining... • 13. Differences Between Types of Mouth Guards In dentistry there are three main types of mouth guards. The first one is the Stock mouth protector. This protector is preformed and it comes ready to wear immediately. These ones can be bought at department stores and are fairly inexpensive. When you get one of these guards it is not easy to adjust or fit in the mouth since they are sold at stores. In some instances they do not offer or provide much safety or protection, and with this dentist do not recommend these for their patients. Some other names for guards include; bite plane, bite splint, gum guard, gum shield, mouth piece, mouth protector, night guard, and occlusal splint. The second protector is the Boil and bite mouth protector. This one is a little more fitting and helps protect the teeth. This one you can also get at a store, but the difference between this protector and the stock mouth protector is that this mouth piece is made out of a thermoplastic material. This means that when you get this guard you put it into hot bowling water and then put the piece in your mouth and it makes an impression around the teeth using your finger and tongue to put pressure on it to form to your mouth. The third protector that is used in dentistryis the Custom Fitted mouth protector. This protector is highly recommended by dentist due to the fact that it is fitted and formed to your mouth in a direct way. This is made inside a dental office after the assistant and or dentist make a mold of your teeth and mouth. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The growth of economy means that there is an increase of goods and services. President Trump has tried to make proposals, such as the growth of GDP (gross domestic product), but many of these proposals seem to possibly cause a trade war. A trade war would have a bad result for America, because of the cost it would cost the economy, government and taxpayers. The slower growth of the economy has different explanations, like the internet bubble, but no sure answer. Trump s more bigger plans for economy growth is to invest in new automated plants, worker training, fuel growth and retraining should improve long term productivity, helping with more mass production. ... • 15. Deat Death Research Paper God s original intent is that dominion be expressed through a relationship with God and others. It is not surprising that Satan, as part of his agenda to rob God of His glory, would do what he can to promote division within humanity. This division is seen all across humanity including the church. Conflict originated in the Garden of Edenwhen Adam and Evesinned. As stated earlier, Adam and Eve lived in perfect harmony with God and each other. Their relationship had great freedom. God s only stipulation was that they were not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God said if you eat of it, ...in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die (Gen. 2:17b). They died or were separated with respect to their covenant privileges and suffered the indictment and judgment of their Sovereign. Death as separation is also a physical separation between the body and spirit and soul (1 Cor. 15:21 22). Eternal death is an endless separation from the presence of God 1Cor. 6:9 10). It is a virtue that is essential in a world filled with racial and religious discrimination. But at the same time tolerance, or, more specifically, the modern, politically correct definition of tolerance, holds some very dangerous pitfalls which, if our government, and we, as a people are not careful of, could be crippling to the individualism, and the religious diversity of Canada, and the world. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But incompatibility will be wiped away, and anything that is sure, or real will be snuffed out as narrow mindedness. You see, complete tolerance is impossible. By being so dogmatically tolerant as to state that there is no complete truth, is to, because of the nature of that statement, exclude, or be intolerant towards those whose beliefs state otherwise. Complete tolerance is an oxymoron, and is incompatible with many religious beliefs including Christianities, whose bible clearly states that it is the only true religion . In that case, total tolerance is not only impossible, it also limits the ability of many to worship fully in their religion. The government is passing through various bills and amendments that are pushed through in the name of tolerance, but, in fact, according to the true definition if it is still permissible to say such a thing these bills are decreasing the amount of tolerance that our government has towards groups whose ideas qualify as hate literature. That is why we need to act. Tolerance is good, but tolerance under the label that society has given it will become harmful to the public, and to the church. Racism is horrible, yes. The overall image of police reflects perceptions, feelings and evaluations about the police in general. As Gallagher, Maguire, Mastrofski, Reisig (2001) stated, this area includes various general descriptions and analysis of the confidence and trust in the police (e.g., Hough, Jackson Bradford, 2013; Stanko, Jackson, Bradford Kohl, 2012), satisfaction with ... Social Legislation was the result of Federation and made Australia more developed compared to other countries as their identity was stronger and Australia had a high standard of living at the time. Social legislation had three main acts which were Harvester Judgement (1907), Invalid and Old AgePensions (1908) and Maternity Allowance (1912), these schemes mainly benefited white Australians. The Harvesters judgement act was established in 1907 and was made so male workers would have an appropriate wagethat could support their wife and three children. It was created by Justice Henry Bourne Higgens who was the president of the commonwealth conciliation and arbitration court at the time. Before the act workers would work very long hours with very little pay. Working conditions were hard and dangerous and due to the low wage protective clothing and hygiene was an issue. In the 1890 s there were industrial disputes due to conditions and wage which as a result meant that the new federal government at the time of federation had to resolve this without turning to violence. Bush gave a speech that resonated with millions of people. America was targeted for attack because we re the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world, said Bush. This rhetoric became a popular opinion which still lasts today. However, it is misleading. The true events that produced the 9/11 attacks are not realized by most Americans. In reality, the September 11th terrorist attacks were a product of the history of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East, particularly regarding the covert operations enacted during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. To understand the complicated sequence of events that led to 9/11, one first must understand how United States foreign policy is made and enacted. U.S. foreign policy is largely made by a very select group of officials, including the President. This is referred to as the deep state . The deep state is the idea of a government within the government that enforces federal actions and has the ability to override public policy. No one is elected for the position, and there are certainly no checks and balances. These actions include covert operations, which are secret operations that may even be illegal. Discuss the presentation of conformity and subversion of gothic archetypes The gothic genre has been a prominent literary style throughout many eras, a popular example being The Castle of Otranto . I have studied three texts; Emile Bronte s novel Wuthering Heights , published in December 1847, The Selected Poems of John Keats , published in 1817 and the later The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter, published in 1979. They all use gothic elements in different ways to create a variety of effects and reflect on their own personal views, Carter in particular as a post modern writer and Keats confusion of sexuality. The three texts I have studied all conform to the gothic genre in similar ways such as, the use of setting (use Gothic conventions to develop setting). For example in The Eve of St Agnes the primary setting is a medieval castle which is portrayed as being sinister and isolated, Keats describes a lowly arched way , the adjective lowly suggests the insignificance and unimportance of the castle. The cobwebs could further highlight the fact that the castle is old and has remained uninhabited for a number of years suggesting an ominous presence. In addition to this, it could also suggest the prescence of insects and spiders within the castle connoting danger and eeriness creating a spine chilling atmosphere. Keats further makes use of the gothic setting within Madeline s bedroom Similarly, Bronte creates a highly gothic setting in Wuthering HeightsLockwood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. India s An Imposition Of Western Culture This essay will explore the phenomenon of Bollywood and analyze it as a product of consumerism in India that reflects both the fault lines of globalization and the failures of commercial culture. This will be done by providing a historical context to globalization; an overview of India s independence movement and emergence as a nation, a brief overview of Bollywood as a commercial entity and identify parallel cultural and economic trends. This essay will proceed to reveal Bollywood as an imposition of Western culture, the product of an intense commercialization of indigenous art forms, and a lens that reflects the dualities in Modern day India. Globalization is a term to describe the increasing wave of globalized markets and the institutions and regimes that uniformly determine access to such markets; namely privatization, free flow of capital, deregulation and foreign investment rights. India currently stands as the world s largest democracy; a parliamentary system inherited from the British Commonwealth tradition where approximately 700 million citizens enjoy enfranchisement. The fault lines of India s democracy run parallel with the country s economic divisions; a profound disparity of wealth is widespread. The large class divisions in Indian society, rooted in the traditional caste system, exacerbated and exploited during the colonial era, have been further entrenched with the rise of Globalization. India s cultural and religious fabric is a complex and often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The American Jim Crow Laws And South African Apartheid As a result of racial segregation in both the United States and South Africa, the coloured people s resistance escalated. In truth, this time of division strengthened nationalism their weapon that [transformed their] common suffering into hope for the future (Mandela, Notes to the Future 2012, 84). Moreover, the American Jim Crow Laws and South African apartheid led to discrimination, activism, reform and most importantly reconciliation. In both America and South Africa, the schism between Africans and their government worsened. Even though both nations gained independence from Britain, the colonial mindset was persistent and continued to victimize other races. Despite the Emancipation Proclamation ending slavery, the United States Congress passed the Jim Crow Laws. In other words, these laws ensured that blacks . . . had more in common with African American slaves . . . than with the [Caucasian businessmen] (Bausum 2012, 19). Similarly, South Africa s National Party in 1948 legalized apartheid South Africa s brand of segregation. More specifically, these laws isolated races into separate buildings and enforced racial purity. To make matters worse, segregation ensnared coloured people in poverty by depriving them of quality government services. For instance, in both countries intermarriage was a crime. By the conclusion of each story all the women find a way to challenge their everyday roles and overthrow them in some matter. It explains how life can be hard for anyone. The poem The Rose that Grew from Concrete is about how life is not easy and the poem Mother to Son is about how life is not easy for everyone. Both poems share the theme of there is no easy way in life, but they way the authors developed the theme was similar and different. First, the poem The Rose that Grew from concrete uses Figurative Language and Symbols to develop the theme of there is no easy way in life. First, the author uses Figurative Language to develop the theme by showing us that the Rose can walk without having feet. It says, it learned to walk without having feet. The author uses Figurative Language to develop the theme of there is no easy way in life because the author is giving the rose human like features, like walking. This shows the theme because the author described that the rose was walking without having feet. Second of all, the author uses characterization to develop the theme by showing us that the mother is telling her son to persevere through life because it is not easy. She is also telling him that her life is not easy. It says in the text And boards torn up, And places with no carpet on the floor. This proves which somehow she needed to step over to arrive where she stands now. Bull Trout Research Paper Introduction: The Bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus) in the family Salmonidae and are a char native to Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Montana and western Canada. Compared to other salmonids, bull trout have more specific habitat requirements that appear to influence their distribution and abundance (USFWS, 2015). Bull trout were historically regarded as pests due to their voracious predatory behavior. It was thought that bull trout depleted populations of more desirable game fish by feeding on them when they were very small thus supposedly depleting the numbers. In fact at one point there was a bounty placed on bull trout tails in Canada to encourage fisherman to rid the waters of this Bully, which effectively eliminated them from certain watersheds (Donald, D. B., and D. J. Alger. 1993). At one time in the early 1900 s the Bull Trout thrived in the waterways of the Northwest. Unlike board games, deviance in life is extremely complex. It is not as simple as picking up of an unwanted card, and is certainly not as of straightforward as spending three turns in jail. Instead, in society today, deviance is portrayed over many different situations, and it arises for many contrasting reasons based on society s opinions and views. However, over time society s thoughts and assessments change leading to a transformation of deviant behavior. First and foremost, there are many devenant actions that over time go through a moral passage. A moral passage is defined as a change of society s viewing on a deviant behavior. Simply, a once seemed deviant act becomes socially acceptable. This change can come about for many different reasons usually ending with the majority of people coming to an agreement that the act is not worth the demming of deviance. The most common examples of this is the change of the law of achole. However, there are many other examples of acts deemed socially acceptable with in time. Concept Of A Multiage Classroom And The Process Of Looping For one to fully appreciate the concept of a multiage classroom and the process of looping, one must understand first what it is, secondly, why it is, and thirdly, how it works. Understanding of what multiage classrooms and looping are is due in large part to veteran and proactive teachers willing to mix old schoolteaching styles with today s learners and methods. The idea of a multiage classroom and the concept of looping are directly related to the classic 19th century setting of a one room schoolhouse (Aina, 2001). In a one room school house, a single teacher was responsible for educating an entire town s children, all of which varied in ages, grade levels, and abilities. Providing the teacher remained unmarried or worked in a town where a married teacher was permitted to teach, children often returned to the school house each year to the same teacher. This is where the concept of looping and multiage classrooms originate. Imagine it s the first day of kindergarten and you are walking your child to their classroom for the first time. Rather than a room full of shy, teary eyed kindergartners, you enter a room that is alive with activity with students in grades kindergarten through second grade gathered around the room at various tables working on morning work and getting reacquainted with old friends. • 55. Implementing A Sustainable Society Out Of Our Own Country For my sustainable society I redesigned the central United States and set up new rules, regulations and a code of responsibility for U.S citizens to start abiding by in order to become sustainable by reducing carbon emissions and becoming more of a community based society. I choose to do the U.S because I thought I was an interesting task to think about what it would take to make a sustainable society out of our own country. The U.S is the second top producer of CO2 emissions in the world and it directly correlates without dependency on fossil fuels for producing energy. (EPA, 2008). This is why my first thought about creating a sustainable society out of the U.S then we would have to greatly reduce, and if not that, totally abolish natural gasproduction in the U.S. Obviously in a real life setting this would seem that it would tear the country apart however I think the solution would be to start encouraging and rewarding those individuals and organizations that a using renewable energyand give them things such as take breaks and government funding. At the same time we would need to stop subsidizing gas slowly over time in order to make it more appealing to the average American to switch from natural gas. Renewable energy companies would be able to create enough jobs to replace those in the natural gas industry. According to the International Renewable Energy Association renewable energy has already created over 7.7 million jobs worldwide (IRENA, 2016). The U.S gas and oil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Crucible Essay Example Justice and The Crucible While justice is meant to be directed with upmost fairness and equality, Arthur Miller s film The Crucible demonstrates that this does not always succeed, and in many situations the forces of injustices are exposed. From different points of views, justice can be formed or destroyed. In the film The Crucible, Arthur Miller convinces his audience that reason, emotion, and character shows injustice throughout the social hardship in a Puritan community. Justice is one of the main themes that is shown throughout The Crucible. Justice is meant to be administrated with upmost fairness and equality. It is also supposed to be based on ethics, rationality, law, natural law, religion, or equity. In The Crucible, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abigail Williams is one of the characters who uses reasoning to get people put in jail or put to death. The court uses inaccurate reasoning to kill people and to get people sent to jail. The court also wants to see the reactions of the people. They make a big deal of killing witches to make the people of the town feel more safe and to help the people trust the court. In the end, it is just the opposite effect. Emotion is how anyone reacts to a certain event or to what someone has to say. In The Crucible, Miller shows emotion by the way he uses certain characters to over exaggerate things to get the audience s attention in the court. By using emotion, he shows that through different points of view, justice can be served or destroyed. In the film, Miller uses Abigail Williams to show how using emotion can make someone get what they want. Abigail over exaggerates things to get the audience and the judges to have a larger reaction than normal. In the court, she and her fellow sisters do things to get the audience s attention. She acts like she sees things and acts like people are torturing her to get them killed or put into jail. To the court, they feel bad for Abigail which makes them believe that justice will be served once they put the convicted witches in jail to be put to death. If you looked from the convicted witches point of view, then justice would not have been served. Character ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Exploring Structured And Developmental Learning Setting a child up for success has always been a common motto within America as the term Children are our future can be heard in speeches and rallies all across the world. Although ambition in America has hit an all time low, the Ready by 5 program should continue to remain a priority to our younger generation because it opens up the door for numbers of children with fresh, curious and passionate minds who now have the opportunity to explore structured learning habits; mastering the art of Learning how to Learn. With the primary goal for Ready by 5 being intervention and education, the hope is to set poverty stricken children up for academic success far beyond elementary school and to send them off into the world with a strong start. Now, children will be afforded the opportunity to be exposed to a structured and developmental learning environment. The ready by 5 program was initially brought to the Yakima in 2009 and has since educated more than 600 children with that number continuing to grow. Research shows that the first 5 years of a child s life are the most important because they shape a child s health, happiness, development, learning achievement at school within the family and community, and in life in general. Personally, I couldn t agree more with that statement as I have seen firsthand, the progressive development of my own children within that very critical stage. Thomas L. Friedman, author of The World is Flat, believes that before our world became a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 58. Maggie A Girl Of The Street Essay Maggie a Girl of the Street is a classic novella written by Stephen Crane in 1893. It is a story filled with irony, hypocrisy, and most importantly feminism. While the title of Crane s novel implies that the story is going to focus on Maggie, it actually deals more directly with the Bowery, and how that environment shapes those who reside there. The setting of the story plays a very important role in this novella, not only is it responsible for shaping the characters in the story, it is also what creates the aspects of ecofeminism that a frequently over looked within this story. Ecofeminism has been defined as a movement that sees a connection between the exploitation and degradation of the natural world and the subordination and oppression of women. We can see the earlier mentioned irony, hypocrisy, biblical illusions, and feminism manifest into oppression of multiple characters within the story, just as we can see the oppression in the environment they live in. Feminism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ecofeminism is a relatively new activist and academic movement. It focuses on critical connections between the exploitation of women, and the domination of nature. It takes from the green movement a concern about the impact of human activities on the non human world and from feminism the view of humanity as gendered in ways that subordinate, exploit and oppress women. (Feminism Ecology). Ecofeminism also suggests that women are in fact hurt more then men by the exploitation of the earth, mainly because women are more vulnerable. The main focus of this theory are women who are at a higher risk because they are suffering a type of double oppression, be it race, education, poverty, or the nation they reside in. While ecofeminism does focus on nature and women being equally oppressed, feminism in general plays a role in the creation and application of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 59. The Events That Helped Build Spain s Foundation After The... There were many important people and events that helped build Spain s foundation after the Spanish Civil War. One of the people I m going to write about is Juan Carlos I, an event that I m going to write about is the Olympic games in Barcelona in 1992, and last is the education in Spain. Spain has come a long way since the Spanish Civil War and today is one of the more beautiful tourist spots for people around the world. Spain is the second largest country in the EU, from the beautiful Spanish language they speak, to the amazing cultural foods. Spain has become an amazing country and the history to how they got here was hard fought. First, Juan Carlos I has played a pivotal role in the transformation of Spain from an arguably state of repression into what it has become today: a thriving vibrant democracy (Afzali 3). Juan Carlos I s full name was Juan Carlos Alfoso Victor Maria de Borbon y Borbon Dos Sicilias. He was born January 5, 1938 in Rome. His grandfather is Alfonso XIII had a blood line that produced kings of France since Henri IV so Juan Carlos I was pretty much destined to be a king because it ran in the family. Another important person that played a big role in the transformation of Spain is Francisco Franco. Francisco Franco was interested in young Juan Carlos. He decided to move Juan Carlos to Spain to receive a pro Franco education. Once Juan Carlos received his bachelor s degree he got military training at the Zargosa General Military Academy from ... • 60. A Feminist Analysis Of Batman s Wonder Woman Moulton created Wonder Woman to fight the ideals of hypermasculinity in the comic book industry by introducing a character who would fight with compassion and grace rather than brute force. At the same time, DC was trying to expand their audience to a female centric readership. So just 2 years after Batman s introduction Wonder Woman made her first appearance in All Star comics (1941), she got her solo series in June 1942, in the post first wave feminist era. Wonder Woman #1 (1942) mainly focuses on Diana s origin story and the history of Amazonia, familiarizing the reader with her character and setting out a franchise that would be revered for its strong feminist views, but is wonder woman really the feminist icon we make her out to be?
