6. Geneva City School District, BY THE NUMBERS
In 2017, the Geneva City School District was ranked in the
top 3 percent of the most diverse school districts in New York
State.* The Geneva City School District is considered a
minority majority school district. *Ranked by Niche.com
Over the past four years, the District has welcomed a 5
percent increase in the enrollment of Hispanic students.
To respond to the student needs with changing
demographics, Geneva City Schools have added 3.5 English
as a New Language teachers and created a Dual Language
Immersion program to increase literacy in English and
students’ home languages.
The school district and the community have seen an increase
in students who are displaced due to a variety of reasons.
These students (averaging 64 students increase per year)
qualify for services under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act.
