SharePoint’s next Billion Dollar Market -
Understanding How SharePoint and Paper Work Together.
SharePoint can handle paper very effectively.
SharePoint can be used as a repository for paper based assets. The design aspects can range from simple to complex and can scale from a few dozen pages to thousands of pages to millions of pages. The innate capabilities of the SharePoint platform are perfect for capturing, extracting data, launching workflow tasks and storing paper based assets.
This demo for this session shows the basics of Document Scanning and Data Extraction. It will also discuss and show One Touch scanning operations where paper is scanned and stored as Searchable PDF files within a SharePoint environment.

Libraries today frequently struggle with identifying the best strategy to maximize resources, systems and staff. As collections shift from print to electronic resources, the need for new ways to manage workflows becomes more critical. With the introduction of new web-scale management systems and the looming question of when to migrate away from the traditional ILS, librarians must determine how much automation is desired vs. required – and how to balance the value of technology and human interaction.

Working with Millennials in the Partner CommunityJeff Shuey
Millennials are the Future of Partnership. Many of them are already in the working world and more are entering the workforce every day.
- 10,000 Millennials are reaching the age of 21 every day
- By 2025, 3 out of every 4 workers globally will be Millennials
- Today there are 55 million Millennials in the workplace
Helping them become understand the opportunities with partnering is the responsibility of today's generation. Microsoft needs to play a role as a platform provider. Current partners, which are often comprised of Baby Boomers and Gen X'ers have a role to play too.
Baby Boomers play a big role here:
- 10,000 Baby Boomers are reaching retirement age every day.
- They aren't (necessarily) retiring ... they have Big Plans.
- The bring The FEM Factor
In this presentation you'll see some of the factors that are impacting the partner community and what collectively we can do about it ... together.
Note: Millennials and Gen Z's are starting business every day. This is a good thing. The challenge is ... How do we get them to consider doing this in the Microsoft partner ecosystem.
Microsoft is enabling Collaborative Disruption ... there are (at least) 7 applications that everyone should have on their devices ... and they are all FREE.
Every SharePoint and Office 365 deployment has immense capabilities right at their fingertips and most of it is FREE. In this session I will discuss 7 Tips that will improve anyone's ability to get more done, do more with data, and share it with the team.
I'll discuss some tools that many people have never heard of or didn't realize were available across all devices - Android, iOS and Windows.
I'll discuss Office Lens, SWAY, OneNote, Yammer, Outlook, Power BI and Delve and two bonus points.
If you are serious about your business you need to be on LinkedIn. This session will cover 6 of the most critical elements every LinkedIn Profile needs. 5 Questions you should ask before starting a corporate blogJeff Shuey
Before touching a keyboard, there are 5 important questions you should ask yourself and your company before beginning a blogging effort. If your company already has a corporate blog this session might expose a few new ideas to spice things up. Originally presented at #WPC15 in Orlando on 7-14-2015
SharePoint can do a lot of things. As an out-of-the-box (OOTB) product there are a lot of solutions that can be developed. But, there is an entire partner ecosystem that has grown up around and with SharePoint. These partners can make your SharePoint deployments more efficient, easier to use and often times more cost effective.
This session will highlight a few real-world deployments and will talk about some of the challenges related to OOTB functionality and how partners have filled gaps to add extended capabilities for things like scanning paper documents, adding workflow processes, declaring records and storing content for long term archiving. Customers in every market segment often end up needing one or more of these to provide a complete solution.
This is a business oriented session and will not dive into the details of how to configure SharePoint or how to integrate partner solutions. Attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas and business challenges. With time permitting we will talk about possibilities for building out your own Real-World SharePoint deployment.

It\'s easy to give back. Everyone can do something. The provocative title of "It\'s Only a Little Prick" is intended to highlight the 3 lives that are saved for every 1 pint of blood that is donated when someone endures the minor little prick of a needle. A few minutes of your time and the ability to save 3 lives --- it\'s as easy as that. Even if you cannot donate blood you can still volunteer to coordinate a blood drive or even join the Donor Party and swim across Lake Washington. Everyone can do Something.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
