This document provides instructions for selecting the correct coordinate reference system (CRS) when starting a new mapping project. It advises going to the project properties settings and choosing the New Zealand Coordinate Reference System (NZGD2000 NZTM) from the coordinate reference system menu. It also recommends enabling on-the-fly CRS transformation in case any layers are not already in NZGD2000 NZTM.
