Flexibility is the most interesting aspect

   Motorway networks are not static
approx. 100 changes per quarter occur in Germany
   Examples:
newly built junctions and tolled sections respectively sections
        that are no longer tolled
modified courses of interchanges, highway sections or access roads
Construction works on sections leading to temporary modifications, etc.

Changes of junctions Changes of highway sections

                                                                                      Page 6

Optimisation and Cost Reduction

                                         System Optimisation

                                            Cost savings through technical
                                            improvements and process development
                                               Communication (OBU to Central System)
                                               Increased accuracy of positioning

Monthly communication costs per OBU Number of support beacons
                                                  Number of support beacons

Value-Added Services

Basic needs of telematic services:
        Positioning signal
        Communication channel

Many trucks have now an OBU with GPS/GSM
one can localize & communicate with them
business cases can be made for VAS
        anybody could develop VAS

Possible Value-Added Services
        Tracking/Tracing
        Central Monitoring of in-car
        sensor systems
        etc.

                                                   Page 11

 Interoperability.

Our NG solution meets EU-directive 2004/52/EC for Interoperability

From 2007 on - new charging systems must be based
 on:
        Satellite positioning or DSRC 5.8-GHz
        GSM/GPRS for the data communication

Operators must provide interoperable services and On-
Board Units. This means for the user:
        One Registration
        One On-Board-Unit
        One Invoice Page 19

  • 6. Flexibility is the most interesting aspect Motorway networks are not static approx. 100 changes per quarter occur in Germany Examples: newly built junctions and tolled sections respectively sections that are no longer tolled modified courses of interchanges, highway sections or access roads Construction works on sections leading to temporary modifications, etc. Changes of junctions Changes of highway sections Page 6
