9. Our village is also known as “Topoliani” and the habitants are called “Darnakes” because they used to say the words “ δάρι ”(dari) which means right now and “ νάκας ”(nakas) which means here.
12. Every September we celebrate “ Kritsmas”. It’s a celebration for the end of tobacco production. In this day we eat traditional halva.

14. ABOUT DARNAKOXORIA In the village there are 800 people but in summer our number rises to 1500. Our village and other four, Pantapoli, Agio Pneuma, Chruso and Neo souli are called ‘’Darnakochoria’’. There are many theories about the name ‘’Darnakas’’ but no one of this is sure.

17. Another place worth visiting are the monasteries. We have five and every one has a special day to be celebrated. In the left is the Agia Triada which is on the mountain in 900m high and 8Km away from my village. In the right picture is the Agios Xrustoforos and is just outside of the village.
25. LOCATION Neo Souli is a small town which is 8 1/2 km away from the city of Serres. The main occupation of the inhabitants of New Souli is agriculture and its main products are tobacco and grains.
26. POPULATION Neo Souli is the biggest village of the municipality of Emm.Pappas. In the census of 1991 the population was amounted to 2071 and it has been increased to 2700 till now.
28. LOCAL EVENTS Neosouliotes organize events many times a year. In spring, for example, the locals of Neo Souli are celebrating the St.George day, in the yard of St. George church. This event represents the time when St.George killed the dragon, a huge creature, that had been terrifying the villagers. Another event is this of the 15 th August. All the villagers are gathered at the square of n. souli and give honor to the name of panagia in many ways
29. TOURIST ATTRACTION In conclusion, the village of n. souli is a remarkable place for visitors. Tourists may go there and see its beauty and admire the culture and the believes and tradition of neosouliotes
