2. THE VILLAGE OF PORUMBACU DE SUS
The village of Porumbacu de Sus is located at the foot of
Negoiulu. The village hearth has an area of 91 hectares,
located in the southeastern part of Sibiu County. In the
east is the village of Sărata, at the west is the city of Avrig
and the north of Porumbacu de Jos commune.

3.  From the register of the conscription that was organized in
Transylvania, in 1733, at the request of the bishop united
Inocentiu Micu-Klein, we find that at Porumbacul de Sus 125
families were reviewed. The name of the locality, Felső-
Porumbak, was written with Hungarian spelling, since the
results of the conscription were for a committee of non-
Romanians, mostly Hungarians. The village dates from 1223.

4.  At present in Porumbacu de Sus there are also two
parishes, but besides these there is also the Catholic
Church, each with its priest.

5.  Traditional customs, specific to the locality of Porumbacu de
Sus, among which the leading soldiers are the winter solstice
by the bunch of sons. The customs and the customs have
always constituted the traditional village within the framework
of our entire spiritual production, the main moments of
materialization in the song and poetry of the hopes, joy and
pain of the Roman peasant. The most beautiful customs, with
their poetical implications, are related to the Christmas
celebration. The bridesmaids, in number two (Rasariteana and
Apuseana), usually consist of leaving the Christmas station,
when they choose by open vote the people who lead.

6. The bets have the following attributions:
 Caroling on Christmas night in exchange for gifts;
 Organizing gaming and party parties during the winter
holidays,
 Initiation of sons and girls at play

7. TOURISTIC OBJECTIVES

o The Cemetery of the Romanian Heroes-during the First World War
is located at the border of the commune, 1.5 km from the locality, to
the east. It was built in the 1920s and has an area of 2,400 sqm. In this
cemetery there are 72 individual tombs and a common pit where they
were buried approx 500 heroes.
