All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior Project. Some
projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form must be completed and
returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, 2012. You will not be allowed to
change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview High
School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
I will be assisting a Canine Assist volunteer so I can learn how to train service dogs for the disabled.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
My previous experience includes volunteering at Canine Assist a few years ago and I was able to
watch volunteers train these dogs to serve people with disabilities. I have also worked with
hippotherapy for two years and have seen service dogs on the job.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I will connect this project to the career of training canines for people with special needs.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary.
During this project, I will be assisting two Canine Assist volunteers and training these dogs to do
daily activities that people with special needs cannot do. I will be attending event with these dogs
(dog camps and graduation), football games to train these canines around people, and training events
at Canine Assist. My product will be a video of myself working with these canines as well as bringing
these dogs in to display their new abilities.
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
This project is a “learning stretch” and challenge for me because I will learn how to have patience
with this time consuming training and making sure that these dogs are trained correctly.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
My estimated cost for this project is about one hundred dollars. I will be using this money for gas,
football tickets, necessities for the dogs, and my presentation.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
I have chosen Pam and Daryl Law as my project facilitators.

2. 8) What is this person’s expertise in this field?
Pam and Daryl Law have been volunteers at Canine Assist for years. They have been training these
dogs and have an abundant amount of knowledge in this field. They take in many dogs in just a
matter of months to train and prepare them for their new lives with a person with disabilities.
