returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, 2012. You will not be allowed to
change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview High
School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
A non-profit to aid street girls in Eldoret, Kenya
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
Volunteer for non-profit, Precious Pearls, which is also based in Eldoret, Kenya
I have also been to Africa and worked closely with African missionaries there
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I plan to work with the organization UNICEF when I am older. This project will prepare me to be a
project organizer, financial adviser, overviewer, etc. for UNICEF.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary.
For this project I am going to work with other members of the organization Jesus Love Ministry (they
currently help support school children and street girls) and focus on the care of the older street girls.
Through fundraising I hope to raise around $500-$1000 to send to the girls in order to buy them food
and sowing machines which will give them a sustaining job. I will raise the money through sale of
self-designed t-shirts, artwork, African jewelry and applying for grants. My project facilitators will
help me make decisions and create ways to make a profit.
5) How is this projecta “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
I have never before been the leader of a project such as this one; rather I have always been the
volunteer. This project will help me to exit my comfort zone and take charge as an individual. I expect
to learn valuable lessons in confidence, leadership, and community.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
The cost of t-shirts will be around $150 and all my other materials I can get for free. Hopefully I will
not break even but will instead make a profit.
