Morgan Zoufal proposes to create a handbook and style mannequin heads for her senior project on learning healthy hair care and proper hair styling. She has limited previous experience observing her mother, a hair stylist. Morgan will connect her project to pursuing a career as a hair stylist. Her product will include steps for healthy hair care, styling tips, pictures and explanations in a handbook. She will work with her facilitator Callie Glover, a licensed hair stylist with 7 years of experience, to learn professional hair styling techniques.

Creekview Senior Hair Styling Project
1. Creekview Senior Project Proposal Form 2012-13
Student Name (please print): Morgan Zoufal
Teacher: Ms. Lester Date: 17 August 2012
All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior Project. Some
projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form must be completed and
returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, 2012. You will not be allowed to
change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview
High School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
I will be learning the steps to achieve healthy hair and how to properly style my hair.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
My previous experience with hair styling would be observing my mother and her coworkers,
even though my mother is a hair stylist; I grew up only observing, but never really learning. I
have always been fascinated by the proper way to care for my hair and a proper, professional
way to style my hair.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I will connect this career with being a hair stylist.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the back
of this sheet if necessary.
My final product will include a handbook that will give the steps and details to healthy hair and
also tips on ways to style your hair. This handbook will include pictures, detailed explanations,
and a calendar. I also will have mannequin heads with examples of hair styles. My first step will
be finding the proper products I need throughout the next few months (supplied from my
mother’s salon). Next I will organize this process on a calendar so I know how much to use, how
long to use, and when to use. Another step to keeping healthy hair is getting a trim every few
weeks; this will also be recorded on the calendar. Also while I am building the steps to healthy
hair, I will be simultaneously observing Callie (project facilitator) on the proper way to do a
professional hair style. From Callie I hope to learn how to keep my hair healthy and how to make
myself look professional for my future career.
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
2. With this experience, I will be expanding my knowledge on how to properly maintain healthy
hair. I also expect to learn how to style my hair in a “professional” manner.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
I have estimated my cost to be between one hundred and two hundred dollars for commuting and
seventy to one hundred and fifty dollars for miscellaneous items. I will be paying for this by
using the money I make from my after school job.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
I have chosen Callie Glover, who is a current hair stylist, as my project facilitator.
8) What is this person’s expertise in this field?
Callie attended a cosmetology school for a year and has been a licensed hair stylist for seven
years.
