Sr + Network Systems Engineer
My Client is a leading player in their field. They specialise Security products and Storage solutions
and they are currently looking for a Senior/Platform Network Engineer to join the team in
Gloucestershire. This is an amazing opportunity to work for a leading global organisation. You will
also have the opportunity to provide technical training sessions of new products and areas where
you are considered the subject matter expert. You must poses excellent knowledge of Juniper,
Checkpoint and have the ability to demonstrate problem solving.
Currently the Network Operations team is made up of a small number of specialists who are
responsible for the delivery and maintenance of my client’s backbone network. The role manages
networks both in and between their 20+ global datacentres and performs a range of tasks. These can
be anything from day-to-day management of the network, through to in depth troubleshooting,
major incident management processes and project delivery.
Responsibilities:
• Support the backbone network through the timely resolution of incidents and events
• Own the resolution of incidents and major incidents from beginning to end
• Implement changes to the backbone network
• Write technical documentation and training for other staff
• Perform training sessions in the office and over phone and webex
• Monitor and carry out preventative maintenance and general administrative tasks relating to the
backbone network
• Build good working relationships with staff from all areas of the business to achieve best results
Location : GBR - Gloucestershire, Gloucester - Landsdowne
Qualifications: Minimum Requirements:
• Proven Networking Experience.
• Must have an in-depth knowledge of network protocol analyzers/sniffers and use in
troubleshooting.
• Must have an in-depth knowledge of heterogeneous networking components along with
knowledge of routing/switching involving native LAN and VLAN technologies including network
Accelerators.
• Expert level knowledge of TCP/IP, Network switching and routing protocols and VPN technologies.
• Experience with Load Balancing on F5/Cisco technologies.
• Experience with Cisco/Juniper/Checkpoint firewalling.
• Switching/Routing/Firewalling on multi-vendor platforms – specifically Cisco and Juniper.
• Excellent trouble shooting skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability and desire to cross train outside own area of technical expertise.
• Experience of prioritising workload in high pressure and time constrained environments.
• Certified CCNA or better.
• Preferably Certified Checkpoint Security Administrator.
