The marie project aims to enhance energy efficiency in Mediterranean buildings by addressing barriers and fostering political, institutional, and financial commitments. Specific goals include supporting SMEs, promoting investment in energy renovations, and developing a comprehensive energy efficiency strategy (medbees) through pilot activities across various regions. The initiative seeks to create synergies between public and private sectors, ultimately contributing to sustainable development in the Mediterranean area.

MARIE OBJECTIVES
The strategic vision of MARIE is to achieve the professional, social and economic conditions for Energy
Efficiency (EE) improvement in the MED Building Stock in the framework of EU policies, p g

standards, overcoming legal, financial and market barriers.
The MARIE specific objectives are:
- To reach effective political and institutional commitments in MARIE regions in order to coordinate

and harmonize the implementation of EU buildings and energy related policy.
- To support local SMEs involved in the supply of innovative, efficient solutions for MED building stock
energy renovation
- To ensure effective external projection in Mediterranean countries and regions not involved as

partners
- To promote new investment formulas and fiscal measures that facilitates an effective and
positive increase of building energy renovation projects implementation.
Pilot activities will test the solutions and measures developed ensuring direct territorial impact.
The resultant MED Buildings EE Strategy (MEDBEES) will generate public/private synergies beneficial to
sustainable development of the MED region.
