This document summarizes Cédric Mainguy's work facilitating an agile transition at Palo IT, a large bank with operations across multiple European and Asian countries. The transition process involved 4 waves: 1) Assessing the current process through interviews and workshops, 2) Identifying problems and areas for improvement, 3) Providing training on agile best practices, and 4) Co-creating an implementation plan through activities like a "$100 game" to prioritize practices and develop an initial project roadmap. The goal was to help the large, structured organization move toward more agile and lean processes to reduce time to market while engaging teams in the transition.
The major criteria standing in the way of agile adoption or improvement are in the hands of managers, not the teams themselves. But many managers have been trained to think in ways that are a century old.
Agile organisations require a new mode of management and a new style of leadership. This talk discusses why this is and what this new paradigm might be like for your organisation.

Leading in VUCA: Principals for Emerging Leaders Eva McLellan
Many new graduates will be walking into industries and organizations that are in the throes of VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity). The leading expertise and perspective from tmany graduate programs will be a brilliant foundation. At the same time VUCA requires new attitudes and new skills, many of which are non-traditional and some of which are downright counter-intuitive. In this presentation I share a set of principles for thriving in the new VUCA-based healthcare environment that she has observed among the strongest and most inspiring leaders.
This is a strategic leveraging slide presented under the DBA course of Strategic Issues and Management. It discusses the means by which the company can develop or improve its strategic position thru the human resources and the value chain.
We outline a fundamentally different approach for organizational change: one where valuing people is integral to building lasting success.
Agile and Lean are a means to an end. Once we are clear what our goals are and our approach is consistent with what we truly value, then we may hope for success.
When we simplify the Agile Manifesto’s “Individuals and Interactions over Processes and Tools” we get “People over Process”. Agile is about people. It’s about a people-first culture. Lean is simliar.
Sadly, many organizations are mired in organizational debt: mistrust, politics and fear. Changing the process won’t fix this. We need to go to the root of it - to find a way to talk about and shift to a healthier culture: one that values people.
The VAST (Vulnerability, Authentic Connection, Safety and Trust) model makes the dynamics of human systems visible and clarifies where we may apply leverage to foster lasting change.

Ideas are never a problem. Each team working on a software project knows how easy is to fill the backlog with 100 new things to build. The most challenging part comes when it’s necessary to make decisions about what to include or exclude. How can we connect the work to high-level business results, and at the same time, leave the space for exploring uncertainty? This talk describes an outcome-first approach to strategy and prioritization. With examples coming from the real-life experience, it shows how it’s possible to balance team autonomy and a global product direction. How a value-based prioritization creates an adaptive, learning culture, enabling cross-functional and collaborative decision making.
