This tool is based on proven research and offers the opportunity to accelerate leadership development – enhancing leaders’ ability to learn from experience at all levels. Values are what drive and motivate us. We can make better choices when we’re clear about what really matters to us. Values underpin our authenticity and help shape our leadership style. Values Explorer is intended to help you “dig deep” and think about your values in a new way. You will be equipped with a powerful lens through which to evaluate various aspects of your life and the choices you make. And if you stay aware of these core values – and honor them – you can make even better decisions in the future.

Transformations Activities January 2017 SU Lead6060, from George SharpCharles Palus
From George Sharp Ed.D., Stockton University
"I engaged the 23 leaders in the first cohort in a six-hour adventure involving the Transformation and Catalyst cards I purchased from The Center for Creative Leadership in November.(www.ccl.org/transformations). During class as well as after the class in the form of email messages, I received very positive feedback from a number of the participants about the use of the cards. Keep in mind that we have integrated a vertical leadership perspective and reflection into each course in the program. So, this was the sixth time that the 23 leaders in this cohort worked in this arena, in some way, and from some perspective. But, it was the first time they were introduced to the cards. (Based upon the feedback, it is apparent that my challenge now is to create several new reflective adventures to reinforce and expand their understanding as they continue their respective growth journey's.)"
Human Resources. A sweet and sour contribution to the agile journey in big organizations
HR is usually the owner of processes and tools related to people and their growth: these tools should not just align with the agile transformation but act as enabler for it. Easier said than done.
Both in big and small companies, we’ve seen different scenarios: from cases where HR was not directly involved in the transformation (and chasing afterwards what was happening) to cases where it is leading the change, but sometimes struggles to challenge its own status quo. The impact is big, both in positive and negative terms.
Which practices can HR adopt and promote to become an effective agent of change during an Agile transformation?
The DiSC model of behavior is one of the most popular in the workplace today. The TEAM Approach has been a part of the evolution of this product for the past 30 years and continues to help in-house practitioners take this tool from the classroom to day-to-day application. In this brief overview you will see how this product has evolved from Marston's 1920 theory to today's powerful relationship tool.

The Drift Deck (Analog Edition) is an algorithmic puzzle game used to navigate city streets. A deck of cards is used as instructions that guide you as you drift about the city. Each card contains an object or situation, followed by a simple action. For example, a situation might be — you see a fire hydrant, or you come across a pigeon lady. The action is meant to be performed when the object is seen, or when you come across the described situation. For example — take a photograph, or make the next right turn. The cards also contain writerly extras, quotes and inspired words meant to supplement your wandering about the city.
Processed in collaboration with Dawn Lozzi who did all of the graphic design and production.

When we say HR Business Partner, do you think, "strategic"?PeopleFirm
More than one business leader in our orbit has recently questioned the value of the Human Resources Business Partner in today's organization. They wonder if the HRBP — traditionally a liaison between the business unit and HR centers of excellence — should be phased out.
Well, we think there's still a uniquely valuable role for the HRBP in the organization... but some changes need to be made. In fact, we felt strongly enough about it that we put together a 3 minute postcard on the subject. Enjoy!

Playing with hierarchies and circles - Experimenting holacracyAlexandra Lederer
In May 2011, I thought about experimenting a new concept to get things done in the L&D space: engage different experts to deliver outcomes, with no hierarchical reporting, no minimum required contributions and no monetary reward. On paper it looked like it was doomed to fail.
By end the end of 2012 the results were mind blowing and kept improving in 2013, so in March 2014, I thought to extend this concept of 'circles' to drive employee engagement and develop a relevant employee value proposition for our staff.
In Oct 2014, I've been told this may be called 'holacracy' - one of the latest management trend - an approach where we "grant special protection to employees to experiment with ideas. It is governance of the organization, through the people, for the purpose. It enables the organization to find and express its deepest creative capacity."
Presented at Organisational Learning Consortium, Sydney 26 November 2014.
Special thanks to Guillaume Kozinski and Marie O'Brien for their inspiring guidance and support, Fiona McCallum and Andy Brown for trusting me with this experiment.
The purpose is to explore the opportunity to embed the Human‐Centred Design in business models culture. It aims to embody nimble business mind-‐sets to equip the organizations with the understanding of customer needs as a real competitive advantage.
Design Thinking creates a high quality bond of engagement and loyalty between the company and employees. The open‐minded discovery process in the Design Thinking can be a strategic landscape where learning environment and innovation thrive.
Understanding the customer through the use of empathy and to nourish the co‐creation process are the lenses to create a design-‐driven culture. This also implies a learning driven culture with the ability to reframe business challenges to solve customers’ problems.

Make L&D Count - Shape a strong business case for L&DAlexandra Lederer
Workshop at Forward Government Learning Conference, July 2016 - Canberra, Australia
How often have we heard "demonstrate me the value of L&D"? or "the L&D budget will be cut this year" or seen little or inappropriate staffing levels in L&D?
Based on lessons learnt from experiences in large, mid-sized and start-up private organisations, the objective of this workshop is to take you through a pragmatic journey to shape a strong business case for your L&D.
By the end of the session you will have acquired hands-on processes and tools to help you:
- Assess the critical knowledge issues of your organisation and how to address them
- Get buy-in from stakeholders to support and sponsor your L&D strategy
- Measure and demonstrate the ROI of your learning initiatives
