Self-Reflection Video Class 4
Kindergarten
During this lesson, a video was used. That video was related with the topic (parts of
the face), so not only in this class but also in the most of them, I activated the prior
knowledge making some questions about different topics that they have been
learned such as what color is it? How many…? (And I mimed with my fingers that I
counted to they realize), etc.
As Aurelia marked, while the students were playing ‘Simon Says’ the most of them
repeated the part of the face in Spanish. I consider that this is not useful, and I
would have liked that this situation was different, but as I mentioned in the
previous self – report, they used to speak in Spanish, so they repeated the
vocabulary in their mother tongue and I repeated it again using English to
encourage them to do the same. During the whole class I stayed positive and in
spite of their behavior, always smiled and congratulated when they said something
in English, using expressions such as “very good”, “excellent” and so on.
On the other hand, I know that I have to work more on transitions, to present a
video or song to catch the student’s attention. So during the next classes, I changed
that using different transitions and they could know what would be the next
activity.
During this class, the aims were completely achieved, students could produce the
vocabulary and they recognized them correctly. Here I interacted with the learners
all the time, asking them to answer some questions to check comprehension,
asking to repeat the structures o vocabulary after me, etc.
Last but not least, during the classes I responded positively to every student’s
contribution and valued them, offering them a positive feedback and
congratulating them. This is very important because in that way they felt highly
motivated, willing to participate, and actively involved.
