During the pre-production of the film, the document author created the storyboard and updated it based on feedback. They attended meetings but felt they could have contributed more to writing the script. They also aim to complete work to a higher standard.
While filming, the author operated the second camera and acted in the film. They helped position the camera and check for continuity issues between shots.
Finally, during post-production the author took turns editing the film. Their main role was matching cuts to the beat of the song, which they felt they accomplished. However, they note there could have been more shots filmed to allow for more editing techniques.
1. Self-Evaluation
Per-production
During the pre-production of the film my main contribution to the group was the
creation of the storyboard and changing it when asked my drawing skills. I
followed my instructions and tasks that the group leaded gave out. I turned up to
every meeting on a Monday morning. I feel I could have improved on my
involvement in the writing of the script and not just the ideas behind it. I also
should have pressured myself to complete work to a higher standard to make it
easier for the rest of my group as they would have had to change less of my
work. My punctuality to lessons was poorin the pre-production and I would be
late to receive my task for the lesson. Some task’s that I was given I did not
complete and I felt less part of the group.
Production
During the production of the film my main roles were the second camera
operator and acting as Philip Barnes. As I was not in most of the video I helped
with the positioning and using of the camera more. My other roles included
continuity manager and checking shots matched up, although I felt as though I
could have done a better
job at continuity checks as
during the editing process
I noticed parts that didn't
match up during cuts
which were hard to edit
round.
In this part he goes to pick
the leaflet up with his right
hand, but the close up is
on his left hand.
During the filming I set up and packed away the tripod and made sure that the
camera was properly level for each shotI was successfulat this as none of the
shots in the film were lopsided. I carefully packed up the equipment after each
shooting and made sure that it went back the way it came out of the packet
2. when the camera was given back it was not damaged or missing any pieces
which was a positive.
Postproduction
Finally when we started editing each of us tookturns in the main chair of the
editing suite so that we all had a fair amount of time putting the video together.
My main role during editing was matching the cuts to beats of the song. The
cutting to the beat was on time which was a plus. I think that we could have
done more shots as a group as when it came to the editing process there was a
lack of shots for match cuts and other types of cuts to show a range of editing
skills in the video. Like per production I found myself turning up late to some of
the lessons at the start of editing but I changed and started arriving early and
making up lost time by coming in my free time.
