The sun exploded into a million shades of orange. I sat, friends at each side, atop a
monstrous pile of boulders. I looked over the vastness of Joshua Tree National
Park, and saw a glimpse of myself. Love filled my soul; love of people, love of
family. The backcountry has always helped me find this love; it has been my personal
northstar, shepherding me toward research and medicine. I started backpacking at 13,
trekking across the winter harsh lands of Idaho and Montana. It was difficult, but
despite this, a feeling welled within me that pushed me forward. This feeling
warmed my numb fingers and soothed the ache in my thighs. It drew me close to
my friends, fostering the teamwork required. Each new trip allowed me moments of
introspection. The teamwork led to trust, trust led to caring, caring led to empathy;
eventually I understood the satisfaction of helping others. This is how the
backcountry shaped me. Over the next year many choices I made would be based

was found in unpasteurized milk at an organic dairy farm in Wisconsin and caused

story of the American motion picture industry begins with the eccentric
photographic artist , Eadweard Muybridge. In 1872, Eadweard Muybridge was
sought out by former governor of California and railroad tycoon, Leland Stanford,
because of his expertise with the camera. Stanford thought that if Muybridge could
capture equine motion in a series of photographs, it would be possible to discern
whether or not all four of a horse s legs were simultaneously aloft at any point when
running. However, initial series of photographs taken by Muybridge was

A con artist is someone who makes a profit through deceiving others. The word con
derives from confident meaning the belief in ones abilities. The word artist refers
to a person who is skilled in an art. When separated, the words confident and artist
are both appealing characteristics. When placed together to form the term con artist,
the characteristics immediately become undesirable. Con artists are manipulative
individuals that prey on the weaknesses of others. Similar to a profile of a
psychopath, they lack the ability to feel empathy towards their victims, and have
no remorse for their crimes. Vulnerability is a trait that con artists consciously
search for to ensure their schemes are successful. They seek out the elderly, the ill,
the isolated, and the lonely. Con artists are eerily witty and charming, which
makes it easy for elderly folk to believe their lies. The elderly grew up during a
time when they didn t have to worry about scams, especially via the internet and
telephone, therefore making them overly trusting by nature. Someone who is too
trusting can be easily taken advantage of by a con artist. A scam most often used to
trick the elderly begins with a call or email stating that a grandchild or other relative

Egypt. Abstract 5, 10, 15, 20 tetraphenylporphyrinatocobalt(II) showed good catalytic
activity towards oxidation of 3,5 di tert butylcatechol to 3,5 di tert butyl
benzoquinone by dioxygen in dimethylformamide. The oxidation reaction was
followed by measuring dioxygen uptake. The rate constant of oxidation reaction
showed a linear dependence on catalyst concentration and saturation kinetics in both
3,5 di tert butylcatechol concentration and dioxygen pressure. The kinetic parameters
have been determined using Michaelis Menten approach. A mechanism has been
