INTRODUCTION
โ€ข Seasonal diseases arise due to
the change in the environmental
conditions during different
seasons.
โ€ข To avoid the seasonal diseases
like monsoon diseases, winter
diseases & summer diseases
stay informed about its causes
& symptoms to detect it at
early.
โ€ข Seasonal change in the incidence of infectious
diseases is a common phenomenon in both temperate
and tropical climates.
โ€ข Seasonal infections of humans range from childhood
diseases, such as measles, diphtheria and chickenpox,
to faecalโ€“oral infections, such as cholera and
rotavirus, vector-borne diseases including malaria and
even sexually transmitted gonorrhoea.
โ€ข Three main seasons are-
โ€ข 1. Summer
โ€ข 2. Winter
โ€ข 3. Rainy
SUMMER DISEASES
โ€ข Diseases are quite common during hot
summers & can affect us in many ways.
โ€ข Some of the common summerโ€™s diseases are
typhoid, diarrhea, measles/chicken-pox, heat
stroke etc.
โ€ข But rather than wait for such diseases
prevent summer diseases by preparing in
advance is always better.
โ€ข .
SUMMER DISEASES
โ€ข Causes of Dehydration:-
Summer is not the only culprit for this condition but
definitely the biggest risk season.
The mismatch in the amount of water inside the body can
happen because of several reasons
โ€ข Diarrhoea:-
This is the commonest reason when a person loses excess
water. Frequent, watery stools lead to heavy water loss
from the body.
Summer time is host to several bacterial and viral infections
causing loose stools.
โ€ข Vomiting:-
Another huge water drain out from the body is by vomiting
which are usually accompanied by loose stools as a result of
any infection.
DEHYDRATION
PREVENTION
Dehydration can be prevented by observing
some measures-
๏ƒผAvoid heavy, strenuous workouts in hot
climate
๏ƒผKeep drinking water and other fluids at regular
intervals
๏ƒผDiarrhoea and vomiting should be kept under
check
๏ƒผFluid replacement should be done, if loose
stools become frequent
๏ƒผAvoid high salt & high protein diet
HEAT
STROKE
โ€ข Heat stroke happens due to prolonged exposure to the
sun, when the weather is exceptionally hot and humid.
โ€ข When body's cooling system fails and it becomes
overwhelmed with excessive heat, the condition occurs
โ€ข Dehydration due to excessive water loss (because of
sweating) causes the maximum damage in this situation.
โ€ข When body's need of fluid is not replenished quickly, it
begins to show symptoms of dehydration and may
result in damaging effects.
SYMPTOMS OF HEAT
STROKE
โ€ข The symptoms of heat stroke include-
๏ƒผHigh body temperature
๏ƒผNausea, vomiting,
๏ƒผHeadache, fatigue and dizziness
๏ƒผAltered orientation
๏ƒผFlushed & red skin
PREVENTION &
TREATMENT OF HEAT
STROKE
๏ƒผAvoid direct sun exposure and being in a hot
and humid atmosphere for long durations
๏ƒผCover head and face, wear loose fitting and
light coloured clothes and drink plenty of
fluids
๏ƒผTry to remain indoors between 11 am to 4 pm,
when heat is at its peak
๏ƒผAvoid becoming dehydrated
๏ƒผStay away from vigorous physical activities
during hot days
WINTER DISEASES
Common health problems like cold, cough, fever,
dryness, asthma, joint pain are widely noticed.
So to stay safe in winter know here easy tips like healthy
winter diet, home remedies for winter health problems,
winter skin care tips, winter diseases causes &
symptoms, etc.
These problems are-
1. Flu:-
๏ƒ˜Winters are commonly known as the flu season.
๏ƒ˜The flu viruses spread through the air and during winters, your
immune system might get little slower than usual.
๏ƒ˜In order to avoid this most common winter disease, make sure to
eat a healthy and nutritious diet, drink enough water and exercise
regularly.
โ€ข Dry Skin:
It is one of the most common problems faced during winters.
Cracked skin, bleeding, pain and infection are apparent due to
dryness.
A few winter tips for skin like using moisturizers, mild
moisturizing soap rather than regular one or applying hand
lotion or petroleum jelly can help you in avoiding this problem.
โ€ข Joint Pain:
It is most commonly seen in arthritis patients. Drastic fall in
temperature can trigger joint pain leading to immobility in some
cases.
Make sure you wear warm clothes. Please exercise especially
during the winter season to keep the body warm.
โ€ข Cold Sores:
The reason for cold sores to occur in winter is majorly because of
the harshness of the dry and cold environment.
The dry and cold air dries out the lips; which make them more
susceptible to the herpes virus.
Adequate nutrition, regular exercise, Home Remedies for Cold
and rest will help reduce the chances of getting cold sores
โ€ข Asthma:
Cold weather triggers asthma attacks.
Winters come with a lot of allergens in the
air, which is the main causative factor for
asthma.
Wear an air purifying mask outside to avoid
inhaling any allergen.
Seasonal Affective Disorder
(SAD):
This may sound funny to most of us, but there are a
lot of people out there who complain about feeling
stressed during the winter season.
This is called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and
it can lead to a lot of health issues related to stress.
Make sure not to stay alone and join a support group
to keep your mind healthy and active.
MONSOON DISEASES
๏ƒผMonsoon is a most beautiful season but it
also opens door to diseases brought by
bacteria & viruses.
๏ƒผThe chances of spread of water-borne
diseases increase due to temperature
changes & polluted water.
๏ƒผThe best thing to do is to take right
precautions that keep these diseases at
bay.
COMMON MONSOON
DISEASES
โ€ข Dengue:
The monsoon is perhaps the best time for the
mosquitoes to breed, as there is stagnant water in
several places, because of that, the mosquito-borne
diseases increase. The fever caused by dengue can
be dangerous for your health.
โ€ข Cough & Cold:
The rise and fall of the temperature, which takes
place during this rainy season, makes our body
prone to bacterial/viral diseases which then result
into cold and flu.
โ€ข Cholera:
It's a water-borne disease caused by bacteria called
Vibrio cholera. Cholera has a gastronomical effect
on your body, which leads to severe dehydration.
HOME REMEDIES FOR
MONSOON DISEASE
PREVENTION
โ€ข Protection Against Mosquitoes
โ€ข Prevention Against Cold & Flu
โ€ข Prevention Against Cholera:-
Ginger helps in boosting your immunity. It is a
natural antibiotic, which can be useful in
curing cholera. It is widely used for both
medicinal and culinary purposes.
THANK
YOU
