Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing and Office Services
AFFINION GROUP - Stamford, CT - 2011 to Present
Strategic Sourcing - Hired to develop and transform the global Strategic Sourcing function from reactive and
transaction oriented into one that is strategically focused and a true business partner. Focused on exposing my
team and stakeholders to tools, processes, and procedures that instill discipline and rigor around key sourcing
activities. Responsible for all category sourcing activities within Affinion's global operations. Sourceable spend
across a broad spectrum of categories, including IT, HR, Business Operations, Marketing, Facilities, and
Finance, is approximately $300MM per year.
• Work with key functional leaders to understand organizational goals and drivers in order to identify and
prioritize strategic opportunities for Sourcing to deliver maximum value in the timeliest fashion
• Lead cross-functional sourcing teams to obtain a result that provides the optimal balance of internal/external
customer support, executive direction, product/service value, and speed to market considerations on behalf
of Affinion's global operations.
• Build relationships with all levels of management.
• Mentor, educate, and provide guidance to increase capabilities, broaden focus, and expand sphere of
influence of team members.
Office Services/Facilities - Responsible for managing a $20MM budget, 11 employees, and 789,000 square
feet of leased space in 12 buildings.
• Negotiate tenant and subtenant leasing agreements. Represent Affinion's interests during negotiations to
ensure achievement of optimal financial and commercial terms.
• Ensure real estate strategy remains aligned with company objectives.
• Ensure facilities are appropriately maintained and comply with all state/federal laws.
• Optimize vendor costs without sacrificing quality and service delivery requirements.
Project Highlights
• Managed a multi-vendor Procurement Card program that yielded approximately $16MM in rebates on
$800MM of volume.
• Negotiated 5 year agreement to outsource US print and mailing operations, including labor and equipment, to
a 3rd party firm which will reduce operating costs by $2MM per year ($8MM annual spend reduced to $6MM).
• Led an internal cross functional team comprised of business stakeholders from Database Marketing, Statistics
and Modeling, Insurance and Membership Services, and IT in an RFP for a replacement marketing analytics
platform and application hosting provider. This resulted in the negotiation and execution of a 5 year agreement
worth $12.5M and projected savings of $1.5MM per year.
• Negotiated a Microsoft SQL server license agreement that reduced costs by $302K ($1.170M to $868K) and
included preservation of the 19.5% discount to cover one additional future order of SQL licenses planned for
end of year.
Director of Sourcing, Professional Services
CAESAR'S ENTERTAINMENT, INC - Las Vegas, NV - 2001 to 2011
Created new service offering focused on sourcing within previously untapped areas of corporate spend,
including IT, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Security and Investigations, Risk Management, Travel
Services, Gaming, Communications, and Finance. Created appropriate marketing tools to introduce and sell
the value of partnering with Strategic Sourcing for contracting and vendor management efforts.
• Directly managed team of 2 Sourcing professionals (1 Contract Manager and 1 Contract Director) responsible
for sourcing activities within the IT, Marketing, and Professional Services categories. These categories
represented approximately $500MM in annual spend.
• Worked with key functional leaders to understand organizational goals and drivers in order to strategically
identify and prioritize opportunities for Sourcing to deliver maximum value in the timeliest fashion.
• Provided consultative advice and counsel around the creation of relevant and aggressive negotiation
strategies with the objective of maintaining Company's leverage and flexibility while reducing the overall
operation risks for both simple and complex requirements.
• Partnered with internal Legal Counsel and Risk Management to ensure business terms and requirements
were considered during the creation and negotiation of contractual terms and conditions. Facilitated the overall
working relationship and communication process flow between the user group/stakeholder, internal Legal and
Risk Management, and Supplier to ensure the achievement of mutually desirable outcomes.
Project Highlights
• Negotiated multiyear enterprise agreement with Staples for Office Supplies that yielded an incremental 10%
aggregate savings even though projected annual spend was reduced by 50% from the prior year. Implemented
demand management practices to reduce the available core list of items from 4000 to 1100 SKUs by redirecting
spend from high dollar items to less expensive functionally equivalent alternatives.
• Led internal cross functional team to negotiate a long term multifaceted contractual relationship with The
Hertz Corporation that yielded incremental savings and revenue opportunities for Harrah's because of our
ability to leverage multiple business areas. Relationship included discounted rates for employee business and
personal travel and an onsite retail offering at 11 properties in the Central and Western Divisions, which will
yield a guaranteed total fixed rent amount of $1.5M each year for 5 years. Additional opportunities will continue
to be explored in the areas of Strategic Alliances/Marketing, Loyalty Marketing, Convention Services, and
Revenue Management.
• Negotiated multiyear agreement for Managed Print Services that established processes to control how
printing activities were considered. Initial implementation targeted 9 properties in the Las Vegas Region.
Program projected to yield a 49% reduction on an estimated $18.5M total spend over a 5 year term for
the redesign, management, and support of print devices (printers, copiers, multifunction devices). First year
savings results have actually yielded an additional 34% above target. Additional cost reduction opportunities
will be realized as more properties are implemented into the program and continuous improvement and
business process re-engineering activities are identified.

Directly supervised 3 Buyers specifically responsible for developing, negotiating, and executing software
development contracts for the HR and Legal departments.
Project Highlight
• Planned, developed and executed a short-term aggressive project plan to close a $30M budget gap within
the CIO organization in 1999. Goal was $10M in rebates; actual results totaled $21.6M.

Represent Affinion's interests during negotiations to ensure achievement of optimal financial and commercial terms. • Ensure real estate strategy remains aligned with company objectives. • Ensure facilities are appropriately maintained and comply with all state/federal laws. • Optimize vendor costs without sacrificing quality and service delivery requirements.   • 2. • Managed a multi-vendor Procurement Card program that yielded approximately $16MM in rebates on $800MM of volume. • Negotiated 5 year agreement to outsource US print and mailing operations, including labor and equipment, to a 3rd party firm which will reduce operating costs by $2MM per year ($8MM annual spend reduced to $6MM). • Led an internal cross functional team comprised of business stakeholders from Database Marketing, Statistics and Modeling, Insurance and Membership Services, and IT in an RFP for a replacement marketing analytics platform and application hosting provider. This resulted in the negotiation and execution of a 5 year agreement worth $12.5M and projected savings of $1.5MM per year. • Negotiated a Microsoft SQL server license agreement that reduced costs by $302K ($1.170M to $868K) and included preservation of the 19.5% discount to cover one additional future order of SQL licenses planned for end of year. Director of Sourcing, Professional Services CAESAR'S ENTERTAINMENT, INC - Las Vegas, NV - 2001 to 2011 Created new service offering focused on sourcing within previously untapped areas of corporate spend, including IT, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Security and Investigations, Risk Management, Travel Services, Gaming, Communications, and Finance. Created appropriate marketing tools to introduce and sell the value of partnering with Strategic Sourcing for contracting and vendor management efforts. • Directly managed team of 2 Sourcing professionals (1 Contract Manager and 1 Contract Director) responsible for sourcing activities within the IT, Marketing, and Professional Services categories. These categories represented approximately $500MM in annual spend. • Worked with key functional leaders to understand organizational goals and drivers in order to strategically identify and prioritize opportunities for Sourcing to deliver maximum value in the timeliest fashion. • Provided consultative advice and counsel around the creation of relevant and aggressive negotiation strategies with the objective of maintaining Company's leverage and flexibility while reducing the overall operation risks for both simple and complex requirements. • Partnered with internal Legal Counsel and Risk Management to ensure business terms and requirements were considered during the creation and negotiation of contractual terms and conditions. Implemented demand management practices to reduce the available core list of items from 4000 to 1100 SKUs by redirecting spend from high dollar items to less expensive functionally equivalent alternatives. • Led internal cross functional team to negotiate a long term multifaceted contractual relationship with The Hertz Corporation that yielded incremental savings and revenue opportunities for Harrah's because of our ability to leverage multiple business areas. Relationship included discounted rates for employee business and personal travel and an onsite retail offering at 11 properties in the Central and Western Divisions, which will yield a guaranteed total fixed rent amount of $1.5M each year for 5 years. Additional opportunities will continue to be explored in the areas of Strategic Alliances/Marketing, Loyalty Marketing, Convention Services, and Revenue Management. • Negotiated multiyear agreement for Managed Print Services that established processes to control how printing activities were considered. Initial implementation targeted 9 properties in the Las Vegas Region. Program projected to yield a 49% reduction on an estimated $18.5M total spend over a 5 year term for the redesign, management, and support of print devices (printers, copiers, multifunction devices).
