Mr. Onuma will be concluding a four-hour program with a discussion that includes description of his award-winning BIMStorm business processes related to the earlier presentations.
In 1984, TED was established to stimulate "ideas worth spreading." Events were held like conferences organized by not-for-profit. TEDx is designed to help communities, organizations and individuals with TED experiences organized at the local level in a semi-independent manner.
The TED Prize, which is usually given to an individual, was awarded to the idea of planning the "City 2.0" in 2012. Presentations on the future of cities will be given all over the world on the same day.
The San Diego TEDx City2.0 presentations will be at the NewSchool of Architecture and Design, 1249 F Street from 1 – 5 pm on Saturday, October 13.

The Invention of the Sensor
Santino Medina currently works for Gehry Technologies (GT) as a Senior Project Manager. He’s trekked the world over for project integration, advanced digital, construction technologies and methodologies. He’s consulted for GT in Los Angeles for Frank Gehry on projects like the Brooklyn Arena, on the Museo Soumaya in Mexico City with Fernando Romero and the Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi with AECOM, for Laing O’rourke in Hong Kong and is now managing 2 projects for Disney; the entire BIM integration for the Shanghai Disney Resort as the overall Parkwide BIM Manager and an incoming future project. He aids in implementing advanced technological processes, such as 3D Scanning and Unmanned Aircraft Systems analysis. Additionally, he is collaborating with the Shanghai Disney Research Lab to develop future building methodologies. He believes that the hybrid integration of Man, Technology and Robotics is not the future, but the Now.
In this presentation Santino talks about the Invention of the Sensor. We are able to record real-time sensory data from the world around us with UAVs, CCTVs and various other technologies that transform the physical into the digital. How do we as Architects utilize that information to improve our designs, to improve our world?

Among the digital agoras of the Internet, one in particular defies that pervasive dreamless state of politics. Blockchain enthusiasts not only are eagerly engaged in a lively debate over the future of society, they are also actively pursuing their collective dreams. They seek as much to remake the institutions central to modern society, as to embody a new kind of public digital freedom. However, in the pursuit of their dream, blockchain enthusiasts are constrained by the harsh reality of everyday choices. In those choices, they are forced to interact with current organizations and institutions. A dialogue is already developing between blockchain more radical proposals and traditional government institutions, as less radical visions are more and more also populating the blockchain space. So, despite the naive discourse of disregard of the State that blockchain utopia seems to cling to, their solutions to their everyday legitimacy and due process problems may lead to interesting new ways of organizing representation and dialogue in collective decision-making. We should therefore look carefully into those initiatives and try to evaluate them for what they are: a laboratory for new ways in which political collective action can take place.

In an ideal IT world we might start all over again –move entirely to public cloud providers, build applications in real time, run everything as services, and pay only for what we need. Indeed, this is exactly what some businesses are doing. However, many businesses have a ‘legacy’ of existing IT investments that generate revenue, manage cost and risk, free up people, and generally deliver a lot of value. They have plenty of challenges, but their significant and positive investment in IT does make their business better. In his session at the Up 2010 Cloud Computing Conference, Andi Mann, vice president of virtualization product marketing for CA Technologies, provided actionable advice for these businesses, covering ROI opportunities, realistic challenges and expectations, and real world examples in a step-by-step evolution from virtualization to cloud, which leverages their valuable investments in existing IT systems.

This study focuses on the influence of cloud computing adaption on organization performance with particular reference to selected Commercial Banks in Ilala Municipality. Specifically, the study aimed to assess how cloud computing increases efficiency of bank operations, to examine the effectiveness of cloud computing on enhancing customer satisfaction and to identify the challenges and opportunities encountering Commercial Banks in adopting and using cloud computing services. A sample of 70 respondents was drawn from the study population using simple random and purposive sampling techniques. Research questionnaire was applied in data collection and the collected data were analyzed using quantitative research techniques. Frequencies and percentages were computed to establish descriptive information of the collected data. Multiple regression statistical analysis with the help of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was employed to analyse the collected data. Results revealed that cloud computing is easy to use in banking operations, it shows that cloud computing in banks is accurate in data processing whereby to improve efficiency cloud technology can bring together multiple data and operational systems and increase efficiency in bank operations. Basing on the findings the study recommends that cloud computing service providers solve the issues that hamper the adoption of cloud computing. The government should create policies on cloud computing to be taught from schools so that people become aware of cloud computing. Seminars and events should be organized so that different kinds of individuals can be educated and informed about different ideas concerning cloud computing adaptation. The study recommends for further studies that cloud computing is a rapidly emerging technology in many companies. It would be interesting to concentrate on other industries that may have a greater demand for information management and so need the usage of cloud computing.
Billion Node Cloud

2) Within 5 years, small data centers will disappear as services are automated and orchestrated in the cloud using SDN. SDN will distribute loads optimally across different cloud vendors.
3) SDN will change economics by shifting costs from fixed infrastructure to usage-based models and allowing loads to be distributed flexibly across networks and partners. This will lower capacity planning costs for providers.
