The document is a transcript from an interview between a band member, Alfie, and an interviewer. It discusses the formation of Alfie's band Laplace's Angels during lockdown out of boredom. Their breakout hit single "I/Me/Myself" was inspired by gender expectations and bullying, depicting someone's struggles through a school day. The music video was filmed at their old school with members wearing school uniforms and colorful outfits to represent restrictions and self-expression. Alfie enjoyed exploring the song's themes through a familiar school environment and using bright costumes for the ending.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

Read| The latest issue of The Challenger is here! We are thrilled to announce that our school paper has qualified for the NATIONAL SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE (NSPC) 2024. Thank you for your unwavering support and trust. Dive into the stories that made us stand out!

Mid shot of the room, camera on a tripod, interviewer and Alfie are sat opposite each other,
side on to the camera
Interviewer -
I'm sure our viewers know who you are by now, but just in case anyone out there doesn’t,
[Turns to face camera] today I am speaking with the lead singer of the promising new band
Laplace’s Angels, who skyrocketed in popularity after releasing their video for their hit single
I/Me/Myself. [Turns back to face Alfie] Now this interview has been a long-time coming, so
thank you for taking the time to sit down with me today.
Alfie -
It’s my pleasure, thank you for bringing me on here
Interviewer -
Let’s get straight into it shall we; why did you guys decide to start the band?
Scene 1, Shot 2: Int/Midday kitchen
Close up shot at a slight low angle of Alfie
Alfie -
Well, we had been thinking about it for a while, but lockdown was the push we needed. We
were all bored with every day being the same over and over again so we decided to make the
leap, with most of our sessions just being messing around over zoom for a while. We found our
style through this, so once we were together in person finally it really didn’t take long to get
going and produce.
Interviewer -
That’s great, I’m sure a lot of our viewers can relate to wanting a new outlet during the
boredom of lockdown. Now, we already mentioned your breakout single I/Me/Myself, but what
was the inspiration for it?
Scene 1, Shot 3: Footage from music video
Audio from the interview overlayed on footage from the music video. Uses footage from the
bullying scenes at the school
Alfie -
Steven and I wanted it to show the frustrations that come with the rigid gender boundaries and
boxes that people are put into. When coming up with the video, we chose to follow a school
2. day of someone struggling with these expectations and the bullying that many people face for
not following them. We decided to not really give the story of the video an ending in a way as
we didn’t want to give the usual ‘it’ll get better message’. Because while it most likely will get
better, that doesn’t stop the situation from being awful while it’s happening.
Scene 1, Shot 4: Int/Midday kitchen
Cut back to the mid shot of the interviewer and Alfie sitting across from each other.
Interviewer -
Speaking of the video, was there any particular reason for the choice to follow someone
through a day at school?
Alfie -
We had all just left school, so we wanted to speak to people around our age and show that
they’re not alone and other people understand what they’re going through. It let us explore the
song's themes and message in an environment that our audience are familiar with, which made
it seem like the perfect way to connect with those who had taken our song and saw themselves
represented in the lyrics. Also, we were on a tight budget and our old school let us use the site
for free!
Interviewer -
Now, many of our viewers picked up on the costumes used in the video and want to know the
intentions behind them.
Scene 1, Shot 5: Footage from the music video
Footage from the scenes of Alfie in school uniform, uses walking to school sequence
Alfie -
It was fairly simple really, we all still had our school uniforms and they were a great way for us
to show how people are restricted in how they can express themselves.
Scene 1, Shot 6: Footage from the music video
Footage from the end of the video
Alfie -
For my other costumes, we choose the brightest, most colourful outfits we owned to show the
joy that can come from dressing and acting the way you want. It was really fun doing the final
scene with all the outfit changes. I was a bit surprised at some of the clothes the others brought
with them, a lot of those didn’t make the final cut lol
3. Scene 1, Shot 7: Int/Midday kitchen
Mid shot of the interviewer and Alfie sat across from each other
Interviewer -
I’m sure that was a lot of fun to do. Unfortunately, I think that’s all we have time for, but I’m
sure our viewers loved hearing about the process behind the video. Thank you for joining me
today.
Alfie -
