3. 1. This shot fitted the brief because in the video the actor is saying „bitch‟ at the
same time of the song. Therefore; showing a clear link between lyrics and
visuals.
2. I chose the specific picture of our actress looking down as a shot that typifies
how a record company would want their artist to be represented because
this particular image fits the convention and we see her pouring her heart
out into this song and the audience is able to sympathise with her.
3. I chose the scene in the toilet to represent our genre because indie-pop
videos are all about narrative and I feel that this particular shot shows that
narrative.
4. I chose the shot of the blackboard for an intertextual reference because this
is similar to the original „Foundations‟ video, because the editing is sped up in
both videos.
5. The camera shot I chose was at the table because we are using a panning
shot. We used this particular shot because we are able to track her and feel
like we are watching from a distance.
6. The lighting shot I chose was in the toilet because we used a light to help with
this shot and make the lighting more obvious.

4. 7. The mise-en-scene shot was at the table because you can see the full outfit,
location and the lighting reflects the mood of the song.
8. The other music video I chose was Taylor Swift‟s „We Are Never Ever Getting
Back Together‟ because this video is also about the struggle in relationships and
there is a particular argument scene that parallels to ours.

7. 1. The title of the song is called two fingers and this picture shows the mother
putting her two fingers up. This is linking the lyrics to the visuals of the song.
2. The record label would want their artist to be represented as a talented
musician that can play a guitar because this is a classic convention of the
indie-pop genre and we see guitar playing in the songs and on the album
covers like Amy Macdonald and Danielle Celeste.
3. In many indie-pop music videos we see a performance at a concert. Like
an Ed Sheeran video.
4. In the Mumford and Sons video – „I will wait’ they are performing to a crowd
of people, this parallels to Jake Bugg performing to a crowd in his video.
5. I chose this shot to show the use of camera because a long shot is being
used to emphasise the situation and possibly to highlight his isolation.
6. I chose this shot of lighting because although the scene is dark – a light and
blue colouring has been added to make the scene stand out from the rest.
7. This shot was used for the mise-en-scene because the background gives us a
clear indication of what the narrative of the video will be like.

10. 1. In one lyric she mentions “fast cars” and we are then presented with an
image of a toy car. This links the lyrics to the visuals, but in a quirky way by
showing a „toy‟ car rather than an actual fast car.
2. The record company wants to show Lilly as different to other female
artists, so this is done through the use of unusual items, like the caravan and
bright colours.
3. This particular shot shows the music genre of indoe-pop because it is very
conventional to have a performance-based video and many other artists
do this.
4. In Paloma Faith‟s music video – Upside down, she uses male dancers and
has the same coloured effects in this video. This is showing female
dominance.
5. This shot emphasises the camera because we are seeing it through her
perspective by being spun around.
6. This shot demonstrates the lighting used because there are a lot of bright
colours which are used to symbolise the mood and reflect the genre of the
video.

11. 7. This shot demonstrates mise-en-scene because there is a lot happening in this
clip and it may be used to symbolise how she has lots happening in her life.
However; the bright colours are also apparent which reflect the mood of the
song.
8. Paloma Faith‟s video – Upside Down also uses a similar setting and is also a
quirky performance based video with male dancers, again signifying the
dominance of women in these two particular videos.

14. 1. The song is called „starry eyed‟ so I have chosen this particular image
because she is using physical stars on her hands to emphasise the nature of
the song.
2. Ellie Goulding is a unique artist and the record company want to portray her
as different to other female artists, so this is done through the special effects
like the appearence of her floating.
3. A classic convention of the indie-pop genre is the use of close-ups, and this is
what this shot represents.
4. The opening shot begins with an extreme close up of the artist. This is also
similiar to Lianne La Havas opening of ‘Lost and Found’.
5. in this shot when the artist moves her head‟ the camera also does the same.
This makes the audience feel like they are there in the video.
6. In this shot the background is quite dark but the stars and her face are
illuminated – this re-enforces the name and theme of the song.
7. This shot represents the mise-en 0scene because we can see her outfit which
is very unique and stands out as a key indie-pop genre convention, and we
can also see the dancers and the setting both of which are unique and
should not work together – but do. Again emphasising the indie pop genre.

15. 8. Lianne La Havas‟ video – ‘Lost and Found’ also makes good use of the
conventional close-up. This emphasises the genre.
